SCP 2966 is a Keter Class anomaly also known as InfiniTP.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2966 is to be contained at Outpost 117, and at no time shall any other SCP objects be contained with it. A liquid-fluoride thorium reactor is to be powered at all times, with the heat exchange directly in thermodynamic contact with SCP-2966's housing. Before usage of SCP2966 , monitors will ensure that there are at least 2.04×1017 joules of heat energy available to thermodynamically transfer into SCP-2966's housing. During use, this heat energy transfer will be carefully monitored to match the rate of matter removal.

Ahh! Original author here. So proud to see my only SCP have an animation of its own from my favorite Foundation themed channel! Makes my day to see it brought to life in this way. For context, I came up with this story in 2016 during summer school at engineering Uni. And yes, it was while I was in my dorm's bathroom. Perhaps I'll need to finally follow up with some of my half finished SCPs now!

@@FinalHeroesTV my thinking while writing was that it doesn't really explode like a bomb, more just sheds energy so fast that it might as well be an explosion. The main reason it's difficult to take apart is that the Foundation doesn't want to for fear of disturbing the system's energy balance inside. Which is a convenient way to have the plot allow the reader to put whatever they want in there. I mentioned a bunch of nonsense technologies like the hyperbaric containment field that don't really need to make sense in order for the story to work. The reader's mind can fill in the gaps, what's important is what the SCP does and the laws it obeys.

Well, it was engineering university, and does come off as trying to flaunt my recently gained knowledge with six years of retrospect. "Learning" is a strong word, as a bunch of the math was wrong in the original article and probably still is since I've forgotten my login info. If I write another, it'd be more supernatural than this one.

1000 megatons doesn't sound too bad considering the KT extinction event (aka Chixculub) had 100 million megatons of tnt packed on it. Still, the resulting shockwave would likely travel around the world multiple times. For comparison, the Tambora explosion in 1815 produced 800 megatons of tnt. Yeah 1k megs is a lot. I retract what I said.

Well there's a scp that's can stop this one and nutrlize it which is a teleporting kids pool that can send stuff between the earth and moon. Also the dinosaurs ending astroid had around 100 megatons of TNT having that 10x is this scp's power. Also as it doesn't send the non funni rays space would save are asses

The strength of a nuke reduces by the square of distance. So really it is only about 4.5x as strong as the Tsar Bomba. Just shoot it into space, not even that far and everyone's fine.

See, this is what really gets me thinking. With anomalous objects like SCP-2966 existing in the same universe with other dangerous anomalies, it got me thinking. If any of the really dangerous anomolies caused an end of the world scenario, SCP-2966 would be right behind it if everyone in Site 117 was taken out in the scenario. If SCP-001(When Day Breaks) were to occur, then, a day and a half after site 117 falls, SCP-2966 would probably wipe out most of, if not, the entire earth. So, unless the the blobs of human amalgamations are indestructible, I'd be way more worried about being blown off the face of the planet than anything that SCP - 001 proposal has to offer.

That's one of the reasons to see SCP as many separate canons. A lot of them can't coexist. Especially when you have a containment breach or attack happen but then remember that half of your sites hold something that ends reality as we know it if not looked after.

Most of those towers you see are cooling towers for spent rods.. Being a thorium reactor that wouldn't even be needed.

@@GimmeMyHandleBack Reactors don't really use water to cool themselves, their thermal reaction is controlled by adjusting how many neutrinos are allowed to bounce around. The water is really used to take up the heat generated by the process to create steam as in the end they are little more than big steam boilers used to power a turbine.

Too many SCPs have XK-class worst case scenarios. It would've been better if it teleported toilet paper from around the world to replenish itself, with an anomalously high chance of taking from nearly empty rolls in porta-potties, stadiums, and concert venues.

Little late here but I think it has something to do with it being created early on before major popularity, serialization or the -J craze. It having a more fleshed out story helps but it probably didn't make sense to go through all the SCP articles to recategorize some that might be a bit sillier to -J status. Especially since lots of articles weren't meant for -J status, they just were meant to expand the universe with more than world ending monsters and violence. Variety is good. Same as that toaster that makes everyone think they're a toaster. Kind of jokey but not all anomalies can be completely serious.

So technically, you can let it store energy, generate heat, contain it inside an energy generating station aka maybe a ultra large water boiler dynamo core energy station and let it produce energy, you only have to contain it with an indestructible armored personnel that isn't a less trustworthy D class, a researcher who has to go in and do the job or regulating it just below explosion point or pure alpha radiation, since all you need os protection, a rudimentary version of an ironman suit would work, hell any radiation suit will work. You literally have unlimited energy if it observes the same laws. - if you pull it out too fast too many - it absorbs a lot of energy so everything goes cold - if you leave it it will just grow more potent until it radiates like the sun .... COMBINE IT WITH THE HAND DRYER THAT SPRAYS UNLIMITED FIRE!! SEE WHAT THAT DOES

@@blueberrymk.1091 i don't see how bad it can get overall, with the exception of the hand dryer having the tendency to break the wall and fly away with it while mounted. You have: The TP that absorbs all matter of energy and waves of electrons even as fuel to generate toilet paper within the vicinity. The dryer that produces unlimited heat They literally can be used to counteract one another, you just need an anomalous base building technology to set up a site under say...the Mariana trench, where the dryer will be under too much pressure to fly away if it tears the walls down, it produces a lot of heat while doing so in a - 180°c water, while the excess heat, controlled by say....a robot automated to take out a piece of toilet paper every like 8 hours just below radiation/alpha radiation explosion point... You are pretty safe. And the energy generated can be extracted rather safely.

The idea of having an endless supply of something like TP 🧻 sounds awesome right? Well this is a demonstration of what would happen if that “magic” went wrong. This is just like the the pen with infinite ink (SCP-505) or Desert in a Can (SCP-622) were the idea is sound but the end result is terrifying! Also, suppose this didn’t react badly? You’d still need a significant power source to keep it supplied! Look if it sounds to fantastical then you just might end up causing an anomaly someone else will need to deal with. Stupid well meaning scientists!

write error: reducing neutonian matter to "absolute zero" doesn't just make things "super cold." it often changes it's state of matter into a bose-einstein condensate, pretty much melting the physical structure of anything with lots of nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen for sure. It would just... fall apart at the subatomic level.

One problem: infinite toilet paper would be bad for toilet paper companies. Once buying the first toilet paper roll, they wont buy anymore, and sales would drop. So, they probably wouldn't develop it.

@@TrueLadyEvilChan ya, eventually. doesnt mean a robot cant harvest it and have it taken for usage in the site bathrooms. 16 people will go through alot more then 30 sheets a day. thats barely 2 per person!
