Short version, SCP object classes are based on how difficult they are to contain. "Safe" (as in lockbox, basically if you can put it in a box and forget about it, and then nothing happens as long as the box remains closed, it is in this category, for example SCP 500). "Euclid" (the middle difficulty for containment and re-containment, and the default for sentient beings due to the inherent unpredictability that comes with self-aeareness. Also the "minimal threat" Interdimensional SCPs if I recall, for example SCP 173, SCP 3008). "Keter": incredibly high danger level and/or incredibly difficult to contain, keep contained, re-contain and or keep track of (could have one of these traits, a few, most, or even all depending on the SCP 682). "Thaumiel" basically the anti-keter, these are SCPs that are actively used by, actively aiding or are straight up protected by the Foundation and/or humanity as a whole (for example, SCP 343 and SCP-2000) "Apollyon" (the SCP is an apocalyptic or near-apocalyptic event that already happened, and the entry is written as a survivor's journal entries, for example A World Gone Beautiful and When Day Breaks) And then there's "esoteric" classes where you can extrapolate their meaning based on the articles themselves. Of course, Joke SCPs are also a thing, albeit of dubious canonicity. for example, SCP 420-J is one that gets referenced in other SCP media such as the game SCP Containment Breach (which has some good lore of its own and references another Joke SCP), and on the other hand there's SCP 666 ½ J, one that's blatantly non-canon for reasons that become clear at the very end of the article, but it's still a hilarious read, aka The Roaring Gates of Hell (it's a crab cake that (spoiler redacted). But then again, a common saying in the SCP fandom is "there is no true canon", so take that as you will. Edit: another iconic Joke SCP is called "THE BALL", (the all caps being part of the title). A good one that really makes you question is 682 cross test with the 001 Proposal "The Gate guardian" after you watch the Gate guardian itself. For those just discovering the SCP here, the Euclid he's mentioning? It's Safe, Euclid, and Keter, but there's a catch, that's not safety to humanity, that's ease of controlling. Safe objects could be something like a salt shaker that turns the blood of anyone that looks at it into salt, which is of course deadly, but if someone wearing a blindfold can put it in a kitchen drawer, lock it up, and that's it, that makes it Safe anyway. Meanwhile a walking ice cream maker that can pass into dimensions and go about its day serving up soft serves to children everywhere can be considered Keter even though it just wants to give you a chocolate cone. All because it can't be contained.

The thing about THe Plague Doctor is is that it feels the disease of human life is death itself, so he is trying to cure it by making it to where no one can die but, instead, it makes zombies. It feels that you being undead means that you are completely cured of death itself, or he is still trying to perfect its cure, by doing more research and think it is close to a breaking point, so it never gives up.

Lesson learned: if SCP-049 offers to let you see inside his bag, refuse the offer and run the other way.

My issue with everything SCP is that you could go through and randomly delete 99% of all content and you would massively improve the overall project. It's not that there are just too many that aren't that good, it's that there are so many that never should have made it through the first draft.
