Welcome to the Electric City, Scranton Pennsylvania.
This city is well known for a few things, one of which is a television show called The Office. The Office is a comedy sitcom based on the city of Scranton and although it was never filmed in the city, several businesses and landmarks were featured in the show.
So in this video we're doing an Ebike tour showing you many of the places known from the show and a few others places as well. This will not only allow us to see different parts of the city, but we'll also learn more about it as well, including checking out something Brand New to the city. Whether you're a fan of the show or not, you will hopefully enjoy what I show you on this tour.

Loved that show. The Office antics were like offices I've worked in. The characters were all hysterical.

Grew up in Southside, bowled in leagues as a youth, and cruised the "flats" as as a teenager(Alfredo's parking lot, which wasn't there back in the 80's). Great food inside bowling alley at Poor Richard'sPub(they sell a bunch of different "Office " merchandise!) , especially their wings!!

Awesome tour of Scranton! Cooper's looks like a great seafood place. So unique! Even the outside landscaping! The vintage car showroom had a 1950 Nash with the original Flying Lady hood ornament. I Googled that, based on the grill design & very unique hood ornament, designed by George Petty for the 1950 Nash Airflyte. Very Cool! I really liked your first-hand history knowledge of several of the buildings, from Tink's, to the huge warehouse that burnt down, along with historical photos. Nice homage to The Office, and Steam Town was impressive! Great video, Jay!! Thanks for hosting us!💙💙💙

I know someone said that the tower at 13:15 was a switch tower, but it was not uncommon for those towers to be used for traffic control - a gentleman would come down from the tower with a sign or lantern to stop car traffic to allow a train to pass by, especially where it was impractical to have a crossing gate.

13:50 Sandone was my favorite place to buy tires. The employees were always so friendly and helpful. I remember the warehouse fire, but didn't know about the sawdust "insulation." Nice to see you reviewing a different type of ebike, as not everyone needs or can handle a fat-tire, off road ebike. My daughter is a huge fan of The Office. She likes the awkward, quirky humor but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I liked some of the episodes, such as when Michael Scott drives into Lake Scranton because the GPS told him to turn right.😄

And the hotel has a gorgeous interior. Ive stayed there many times as well and have taken the train when I was younger from there when it was the station. Thanks again❤

I became a huge fan of the show, but it was after the series finished. Hard to say which character I liked the most. The favorite seemed to change with each episode. Michael, Dwight & Jim were probably top of the list. The female may have been Angela. She was very different from the others. Thank you for memory lane!

Thanks. For another interesting video. I worked out of several offices in the Scranton area and saw many areas I used to visit including the old mall. As for that small structure you showed near the railroad tracks, it most likely was a maned railroad crossing control building. In days past especially in areas where trains would do local switching, railroad crossings gates were manually operated by a man stationed in one of these structures. When the crossing needed to be closed he would operate the gates and sometimes also exit the structure with flags or lanterns to warn car drivers of the train approaching. When all was clear he would raise the gates so cars could go through again.

This was so interesting with some awesome history, you did some extensive research! I have seen bits and pieces and some clips and so forth of the show too but have never seen an episode all the way through. It was kind of cool when you got interrupted by the train horn. lol Fascinating to learn about Scranton with the first electric streetcar service and to hear about your places of employment. The Cooper's Seafood House looks like it would be a fun place and the classic cars were awesome to see, I hope they are able to remove them before they get damaged. The mural at the end is really a fantastic way to showcase both the show and Scranton! Love your shirt! lol What a wonderful and fun tour and I enjoyed seeing, hearing, and learning about all these locations of this amazing city! Great video JP, thank you! 💙
