Just as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett included plenty of similarities to Wes Craven's original in Scream 5, here are 10 similarities between Scream 6 and Scream 2 that you'll see in this trailer. SPOILERS AHEAD!
1. The Scream 6 opening scene has two victims: Laura - Samara Weaving and Jason - Tony Revolori. The first kills in Scream 2 are Maureen (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Phil (Omar Epps).
2. Four survivors from the previous film helming both movies. Sidney - Neve Campbell, Randy (Jamie Kennedy), Dewey (David Arquette), and Gale - Courteney Cox are all alive by the end of Scream. The new generation of survivors consists of Tara - Jenna Ortega, Sam - Melissa Barrera, Mindy - Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Chad - Mason Gooding.
3. Panico 6 brings the characters to college in a new city. Scream 2 took Sidney and Randy (Jamie Kennedy) to Windsor College, making it the first scream movie in the franchise to not take place in Woodsboro. Scream 6 followed those steps by taking Tara, Sam, Mindy, and Chad to Blackmore University in New York City.
4. Scream 6 Ghostface kills in public. In Scream 2, Maureen is killed in a movie theater packed with witnesses. Not only does Ghostface go after Sam and Tara in the scream 6 bodega scene, but they attack Mindy in a subway car.
5. Luring Ghostface in a park. In Scream 2, Ghostface calls Gale's cellphone while she's in the park with Dewey and Randy, and the three of them decide to use the opportunity to track down the killer. In Scream 6, Sam tries a similar plan - this time with help from Kirby and the FBI.
6. Death by falling. In Scream 2, Ghostface throws Cici - Sarah Michelle Gellar from the roof of Omega Beta Zeta. The panico 6 Anika (Devyn Nekoda) death scene involves Ghostface shaking her off a ladder until she falls to the ground.
7. In Scream 6 Gale Weathers has a chase scene.
8. The boyfriend is a suspect, but not the killer. Scream 5 repeated the same Ghostface killer formula of the original movie by revealing that one of the killers was the Final Girl’s boyfriend - in Scream it was Billy Loomis, and in Scream 5 it was Richie Kirsch. In scream 6 pelicula completa en español, Sam's boyfriend Danny Brackett (Josh Segarra) was a suspect, just like Sidney’s boyfriend in Scream 2, Derek Feldman (Jerry O’Connell).
9. The Scream 6 killer is the vengeful parent of one of the previous movie's killers. In Scream 2, one of the killers is Billy Loomis's mother (operating under the pseudonym Debbie Salt and played by Laurie Metcalf), and in Scream 6, one of the killers is Detective Bailey (Dermot Mulroney), who turns out to be Richie's dad.
10. The Scream 6 ending takes place in a theater. Sidney and Gale’s final confrontation with Ghostface took place in the school’s auditorium. There, Sidney and Gale killed Nancy Loomis and the second Ghostface, Mickey Altieri. The ending Scream 6 scene took place in an abandoned theater in which Bailey and his children had set a Ghostface shrine.
