+TheRealBeatMaster One of the only movies i prefer to watch in german these days because the german dub for anakin is better than the original (voice) acting. It makes it soooo much easier to watch the movie

lastdragon55 You wouldn't be the first. I will admit the movie has some good moments. But that' really all I can give it. As a whole, the movie just isn't that good in my eyes. There are alot of things that are wrong with it. And since it's part of a trilogy, that only hurts it more because I can't just analyze ROTS by itself.

Jared Allen It is viewed as the best amongst the prequels. But the prequels as a whole really aren't that good. So the best in a series that wasn't that good. Still doesn't do much.

Yep Copy tht.. fk the Haters..when GL made the First Saga he didn't have the Sequels Planned out so what if it doesnt line up to the decimal.. its close enough & enjoyable.. the lightsaber batles were the best of all Six so its even worth a rewatch every cppl years..haha

Oh, and one more thing: You're complaining that Jar Jar is back... When he has NO dialogue and he's only there for 2 seconds while walking slowly forward with his head down. He was literally ONLY there because of the connection he had to Padme from the previous movies. Come on. Now you're just trying too hard.

Evelina999 Not really. Actually, in my eyes, he's not that bad of a character. He does annoy me at times, yes, but he did get a few chuckles out of me. And I'm gonna be honest, you can't complain about a character being in a movie when he's barely there and for an admittedly logical reason and he gets no dialogue whatsoever in a "blink-and-you-miss-it" cameo. Sorry, but no. This is an illogical complaint.

The scene where Padmé and Anakin stare out the windows is one of the most powerful moments in the film, in my opinion. Both are uncertain and fearful of what will happen to them and their relationship next. It's a very deep, emotional scene that required no dialog to be great.

"Anakin is easy to manipulate." Why is it hard to believe that Palpatine is a genius and a master of deception? He was the one orchestrating a galaxy-spanning war, went from senator to supreme chancellor with little opposition and gained complete control of the government, and couldn't even be sensed by Yoda. You really think manipulating one person would be difficult for him?

The thing is, Palpatine led the war from both aides for more than one movie. He only manipulated Anakin for one movie. I think that’s why it pales in comparison to his other genius feats. Nonetheless it’s still interesting and he was one of the best parts of the Prequel

Eternal Branches hmmm kinda but also- if you watch clone wars you can see him building a relationship with Annikan and growing trust between them- one quote from the movie is after he was sent to naboo palpatine says “so they’ve finally given you an assignment etc” it’s honestly the small stuff that got planted throughout the earlier movies that made it easier for palpatine to be able to seem like a trustworthy mentor and someone that was genuinely wanting to help him in rots- especially after the same thing happened with his mother I would be paranoid too if history was about to repeat itself and I was going to lose the love of my life.

Hayden was a very bad choice to play Anakin, since the character wasn't supposed to be a weird version of Luke, he was supposed to be a powerful giant warrior (the name comes from the giants of the Bible) with tendency to violence and who got lost in his path and was seduce by the dark side due to either a bitter tragedy or a misunderstood belief in the end justifying the means. George forgot what Vader was all about in his prequels.

+Yoda on DMT The story was weak (and barely added anything to the original trilogy) and all of Anakin's acting was bad, Jar Jar. The Phantom Menace was horrible, the Clone Wars were ok, same with Revenge of the Sith. They weren't necessarily bad, just weak in many different aspects that made fans of the originals come to hate it because of how amazing the original trilogy was.

I came here to say this. I stood in like for like 7 hours to see Attack of the Clones when I was in high school and I loved it! It wasn’t until I was in college and went to see Revenge of the Sith with some friends that I realized that people didn’t like the movies. I realize that they all have plenty of faults, but I genuinely enjoyed all of them. 🤷♀️

Anakin's real reason for turning: he didn't like how the Republic was handling themselves. The way jedi are trained are no different from how stormtroopers are trained. He feared once they defeated the Sith, they would slowly become the sith. So Anakin turned not to become evil for evil's sake, but to create a compromise between both sides. He thought he could redefine the Sith and settle the war, while also being an example for the Republic, but Palpatine's grip on him was so tight, his goal was harder to reach. So when he found Luke, he saw a way out of that grip. He could team up with his son to kill the sith and create a new order, but unfortunately he died. Now because of crap writing, people think he's just a whiny brat who just wants to be evil. DAMMIT GEORGE!

If you watch his scenes without audio and just focus on his body language, he's actually great. He can't deliver lines well, but he can convey an awful lot just through stance and movement.

+Buzz Light year To Infinity and Beyond The prequals tell an interesting & compelling story -- they just don't always execute on the performance. For film buffs who are interested in the nuts & bolts of how movies are made, I'm sure that the prequals are unbearable. For the rest of us who are simply interested in being told a story, the prequals are actually pretty fun. I think that the Star Wars prequals are a lot like crocs. The internet hates them mostly just because it's cool to hate them.

If you’re in a real sword fight you’re not going for style points you’re going for the kill. Yeh PT never understood that. They cared more about how many cool flips they could do rather than the simple fact of its two people trying to kill each other. They lost what the original fights against Luke and Vader had, real stakes.

A lot of the stuff commented on here is heavily taken out of context. The scene between Anakin and Padme is one of the most powerful scenes in the movie for more reasons that just “standing and staring out of windows.” The Jedi falling to the Clones is also justified. They trusted them for three years and had little reason to believe they would betray them. They would have no time to respond to it. Plus, I feel Screen Junkies heavily cherry-picked the bad parts out of what is actually a good movie. There was no mention of: the best lightsaber duel in the franchise, the incredible visuals and worlds, the atmospheric scenes and amazing soundtrack and if you’ve watched the Clone Wars tv show, one of the most emotional scenes in the entire franchise. Look, just because everyone else on the internet gives the prequels hate doesn’t mean you have to follow that trend. Revenge of the Sith is good and not just by default.

Royappa It was "worst" for me, I didn't even know Anakin was Darth vader, I only saw episode II and parts of episode I before, but I knew the existence of darth vader (he was so cool and mysterious back then) and many classic scenes because of parodies and other mentions. My mind was blown when Anakin turned into Darth Vader "OHHH so this is what this trilogy is about and it is supposed to be before the other episodes, that's why they are IV, V and VI depite being made before!!!" Happily I can say that revelation felt just like the "Luke, I'm your father" scene for the people that first saw the originals.

I don't understand how this part of the video was clever. It wasn't supposed to be surprising that Palpatine was the Emperor. It wasn't supposed to be a twist. In fact, the name Palpatine was given as the Emperor's name in the New Hope novelisation and many other times before the prequels.

Yeah, it was never meant as a surprise, especially not at that point, it was obvious at that point. That would be like saying Anakin turning out to be Darth Vader was supposed to be a surprise. And yeah, the Name Imperator Palpatine was was already established. So it was pretty clear who he was in the first movie already.

+Alex Moore I don't know; I feel like a lot of younger people who grew up with the films do like them, so there isn't as much peer pressure in that group to just go along with the hate. And for older fans, it's hard for me to look at the prequels and say that people don't hate them for good reason. That's not to say that there's anything wrong with loving them, but I don't think that many people hate them just because others do.

Your og point is probably true, ppl bandwagon heavily. But...these movies offer nothing more than to set up the original trilogy. They don't stand on their own because frankly they were nothing more than a precursor. I still will never understand why they chose to start these movies with Anakin as a child, yet show no signs of his coming evil til the last 45min of the last film. I would say the battles are impressive, but its all fake. I'm not saying I want them to go back to using stop motion like they did for the AT AT's in Ep V but they could have been far more original. Remember these movies were coming out around the same time as the LOTR, a trilogy that showed how amazing practical sets and minatures were, this is something George knew. Yet he wanted the best tech and he knew the studios would fork over the cash. It's really a shame, if you take out the bad writing/actors you have an okay plot

Am I the only one who kinda liked Anakin at some point? I mean, don't get me wrong, he is a selfrighteous little shit and him killing the children definitely came out of nowhere (however that was more the fault of a bad skript), but especially when it comes to his relationship to Obi-Wan, the way he was always teasing and talking back at him and him being a cheeky little bastard... I kinda liked that.

I think these are just people who expected the prequels to be similar to the OT. They wanted to relive their childhood and got a completly new story, that they didn't understand in the first place so they started hating it. Propably the same people, who enjoyed the force awakens.

***** The whole 'giant, planet-destroying space laser' thing is ridiculous. Shooting two torpedoes down a vent (which would force them away) and they manage to then somehow travel through kilometres of vents (which apparently are just a straight line) and that blows up the entire space station. The all-round incompetence of the Empire. Obi-Wan and Vader prod at each with lightsabres in A New Hope like they're fencing rapiers, then in Empire Strikes Back Luke and Vader are flailing around like they're broadswords. The rebels fly off the moon, round the planet of Yavin and reach the Death Star is less time than it takes the Death Star to move around into view of the moon (which was stated to be half an hour). How ridiculously easy it is for them to rescue Leia and then escape. The acting also improved in the prequels as they went along. All anybody does is focus on a few bad lines and ignore anything done well.
