I think Dan really screwed Hal on a couple points there. With the best Chris argument, Hal never said anything about hanging out with Chris Pratt and he was the only one with a valid argument on the talent and skill of his pick while the other two were just concerned with looks and a drinking buddy. On the soundtrack argument, yes Hal may not have been completely knowledgeable on the specific songs in the soundtrack but he seemed like he had the most passion for what was in there. Mike's answer was kind of iffy because while that movie does have narrative, it's basically just a Beatles album and not a real soundtrack. Soundtracks should be made up of a compilation of songs that really compliments the movie.

Ya, he definitely made the wrong choice on the soundtrack argument though. I would've been fine if either Nick or Hal got points on that since they were both compilation soundtracks and they made good points, but Mike didn't deserve that one.

The Rule of Shyamalan is that every film he does is precisely half as good as the one before it. Sixth Sense was phenomenal Unbreakable was great Signs was okay The Village was tolerable Lady in the Water was bad The Happening was awful The Last Airbender was dreadful After Earth was a crime against humanity Gawd help us if he makes another film. 'The Visit' may just destroy us all.

I think the best side kick was an incomplete argument- because no one mentioned the one side kick who's been there throughout the making of a superhero right until the end- Alfred. Alfred helps Bruce out in his toughest situations- when he begins to doubt himself and what Batman stands for. Alfred literally defines what Batman is. There could be a Batman without Robin, but there is no Batman without Alfred. Can any superhero boast of a sidekick they are so dependent upon?

These rumors of the Suicide Squad cast are ridiculous. There is NO WAY they will get three A-list actors to play non-leading roles in a DC movie about the B-list villains that nobody has ever heard of outside the sweaty nerds. Will Smith turned down Django Unchained b/c he didn't kill the main villain in the end, and he didn't think he would be the focal point. Do you honestly believe he would play an Australian guy named Captain Boomerang? lol, ffs, in this case I would applaud him for turning this down.

I really don't think Will Smith is right for Captain Boomerang. I like him as an actor, but Captain Boomerang is not a charismatic character and I don't recall Will Smith playing any other character well aside from Will Smith (if there are any I forgot, feel free to correct me). Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad is that jerk who always butts heads with the leader. He did this in Assault on Arkham and in that one JLU episode where we got a pseudo-Squad together of Rick Flagg, Deadshot, Plastique, Clock King, and Captain Boomerang. Does THAT sound like Will Smith to you?

I agree with Nick, the Joker can NEVER work as an anti-hero. He hardly works as a tragic character, because he is AWARE of his condition and anarchic views of the world and just doesn't care. He's beyond the human mind, that's what makes him one of, if not, my favorite villain ever, and one of the greatest in fiction. He doesn't want to get better, and there is no way to get better. If you gave the Joker ANY opportunity to do what he's told, for the greater good, he won't do it. Ever. If the Joker is to show up in a Suicide Squad movie, do it like in the recent animated movie, and Iike I've heard somewhere else, make him just a "guest" character, or a pop-in villain.

My favorite QT movie is probably Reservoir Dogs; that said, I gotta say that QT's most underrated/forgotten/underappreciated film has to be Jackie Brown. There's a lot to like in that movie, and the soundtrack? That's gotta be the best soundtrack QT has assembled aside from Pulp Fiction. BTW, nice Lemongrab shirt, Mike. :-)

I feel like a new feature you could incorporate is something like a category honorable mentions shortlist, for instance on the soundtracks round you could have talked about other film soundtracks briefly that a viewer would feel were left out of the conversation completely when they needed notice. You could have talked about how the soundtrack for guardians of the galaxy was also a concept album about a connection between a mother's era and distant son in another galaxy, or how the songs in reservoir dogs were cleverly added through the use of a fictional radio station, stuff like that.

*****" Excuse me for not knowing the non-main stream title" What has the Swedish (I think) translation of a Tarantino film to do with non-mainstream? You could have taken 5 seconds to look at that list (which consists of exactly 8 films->his entire directorial filmography), look at that weird, non-English title in there (what did you think it was?) and then, yes, used your brain. Not my problem if you don't think for a second before trying to point an apparent omission out which clearly isn't the case.

Personally, I'd go with Tim Curry as the Joker. The man is so terrifying, when he auditioned for Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, he was turned away for being, "TOO terrifying." And he's funny. Even in Scary Movie 2, he is HYSTERICALLY funny. Also, get Ron Perlman to play Deadshot or somebody. The man is legendary at playing anti-heroic figures.

As for The Riddler, I think Hugo Weaving or Robert Carlyle (you know, Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon a Time?) would be a better Riddler than James Franco. Sure, Franco may look the part, but I'm not sure he can act the part.

I think it would've been SO MUCH BETTER if they had made World War Z into a TV show. they changed so much of it from the book and there was so much content in the book that can easily be built off of, like maybe having each incident/story be a season. Not to mention how epic it would be to see some actual celebs playing sleazy versions of themselves for the Celeb House chapter. That movie felt like it had "opportunity wasted" written all over it, but in a way it can be understandable (somewhat) because there were so many stories that would've needed to be covered. Though it probably would've been better if they had just stuck to one of the stories instead of changing almost the entire thing.

I'm really surprised Chris Evans didn't get praise beyond acknowledgement. Forget Captain America and forget the Human Torch: Sunshine, Scott Pilgrim, Puncture and now Snowpiercer. This guy delivers. In Sunshine, he plays a mechanic, almost the lowliest of positions on the Icarus II but he knows his faults and he is willing to amend himself for his team. Snowpiercer is kind of a Cap movie in terms of his role (as a leader of men looked up to) so there's not much to say other than it was a great movie. Puncture is a demonstration that Evans can lead, that everything can revolve around him. The movie is good, not outstanding but he makes the movie. His portrayal of Mike bursts with charisma no matter what tortured existence his character lives.

Watchmen - best soundtrack. The first three songs over the Comedian's death (Unforgettable), the opening credits (The Times They Are a-Changin), and the Comedian's funeral (The Sound of Silence) are just perfect. And later on you have Ride of the Valkyries, Hallelujah, All Along the Watchtower. Just fucking great. Not a flawless film, but an amazing soundtrack, and it's honest to the comic. Several of the songs are referenced in the comic, and were selected for use in the film based on their appearance in the comic. Easy choice. Also, next week you guys should debate best film SCORE, rather than soundtrack. Perhaps introduce a "no-John-Willams" rule?

This is a hard one for me because I really like the music in Watchmen. Jimi Hendrix's All along the Watchtower (which was originally written by Bob Dylan) is one of my favorite songs for all time. The music and it's placement are taken straight from the comic though, so I don't know if it's fair to other movies that had to come up with their own original soundtracks. Kudos for bring that up though.

If you're gonna choose the best movie soundtracks, I have two. *This is Spinal Tap* The stars of this movie wrote, recorded, and performed all of the songs and, taking it one step further years later, became an actual band with an album of new, original material (Break Like the Wind) and went on tour. This is Spinal Tap was the mockumentary that spawned a hit album and a band of talented musicians / comedians / writers. *Pink Floyd: The Wall* You loved the visuals and were sucked in by the stark imagery and animation. You left the theater emotionally bereft but that soundtrack..! You bought the album and immersed yourself in the ambiance and orchestration. This is a soundtrack you can choose to take out of context from the movie but are still unable to shake the imagery from your mind. The Wall stands as a masterpiece of modern music!

Mike shouldn't have won with his final choice of The Beatles. It's honestly a cop-out answer for anything related to music after the 60's. Everyone wants to say that without the Beatles music would be a whole new thing today, but the Rolling Stones would have still been around, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan, The Mamas and Papas, Van Morrison, all artists who formed within 2 or 3 years of The Beatles, and then nobody ever thinks to remember Mr. Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, or the King himself Elvis Presley. The Beatles weren't needed to form any of these bands, because by the time the bands were officially formed, all of the musicians have been playing their instruments for years and were in previous bands. The Beatles did influence the world for their time, but they are just an overrated boy band now and really aren't that great when you compare them to, as Nick Mundy said, Lynard Skynard or any other countless bands that came out after them.

I disagree. You can very clearly go on Spotify and find the individual songs. That's like saying Live and Let Die isn't a song because it was made for a James Bond movie. Howard Shore transcended movie soundtracks with the LOTR trilogy. He even incorporated Elvish. And don't forget about epic contributions from Billy Boyd, Viggo Mortensen and Sir. James Galway.

There are so few movies where the soundtrack is both integral to the movie itself and simply amazing... it brought an entire genre into the world of popular music... O Brother Where Art Thou? The main theme is actually involved in the story, many of the songs are sung in the action of the movie, and most importantly it's just super good.

What is Hal Rudnick on about... with Jai Courtney, did he ever see his work on Starz Spartacus: Blood and Sand. He was really good in that. He just needs a good film to spring him upward, I certainly think he is better than Sam Worthington (who is alright in mind). Signs is good? - so aliens who are hurt by water, invade a world which is covered in water and also they can't get past wooden doors. Chris Evans is also very funny (is Hal forgetting his performance in FF, he and the Thing were the best things about those two movies).

whomee2 Conan the Barbarian is an aweasome movie. The sequel (destroyer) and the remake are bullshit, agrred there. However, there is a wealth of narrative from the Conan novels by R. Howard, not to mention the original storyline penned by Oliver Stone woul provide the Conan myhthos with enough plot, character and history to rival Game of Thrones. The Conan franchise was originally envisioned as a multi sequle franchise, comparible to James Bond, but this plan was wrecked by DeLaurentis. Im for Dredd and I say give Conan one more chance, a ten part mini series could acheive a lot with both entities. I would also love to see a Snake Plissken series, dealing with his back story prior to Escape from New York. Sam Worthington could totally do that part, or maybe even John Rambos vietnam saga????? but who else, after Stallone could take that role?

Personally, I think Dan surprisingly did okay. Also, I don't think Andy is a better or worst judge than Dan simply because Andy even though Andy wants people to elaborate - he only asks questions about stuff he disagrees with or when someone says something he deems illogical. In other words, he's gives them a second chance to convince him that they deserve the point whereas Dan gives someone a chance and there's no coming back. And of course Dan can vote with bias but so can (and has) Andy since every question is subjective.

You would be surprised how much the producers fucked with Airbender. Shamalayn is going independent so he can have more artistic vision in his work. 5. Pratt: he is the funniest and most charismatic 6.Pulp Fiction: no question 7.Sam: he is s basically the reason why the entire middle-earth isn't an ork-ridden hellhole. 8. The Graduate: Unlike most soundtracks this actually advances the story and almost works as narraration.

Dr Doom as a blogger could work. Here's how I'd storyboard it: Blogger guy with the handle Doom is a science prodigy who's reckless behaviour, antisocial anxiety, and dangerous projects got him kicked out of the most prominent science programme in the country where his rival, Reed Richards, the Storm siblings(adopted/half siblings/calm down.), and... the Thing attend. So he's blogging away about how he hates the school, Richards, the government, people, etc. and Richards assumes to know who the blogger is, but doesn't know for sure. Maybe little Doom still pretends to be Richards friend, they talk every now and then... who knows. The FF go into space to tap into the unlimited power source that is the background radiation of the universe. Pre-Doom hacks their computers to sabotage the mission (because of rivalry/conspiracy theories/angst) and the FF get their cosmic powers. At the same time, pre-Doom hacks into a military base and starts up a flip ton of human looking drones, and gets into a prototype combat exoskeleton. I just remembered they want to give him electric powers again for some reason, so the cosmic rays could travel through his computer signal and he gets his electricity powers. But that's what could power the suit, maybe the original power source was too big and clunky so the army never had use for the technology, and that's why other's can't just suit up to take him on. He fights the army and his crazy Ironman the suit is holding off most attacks, then the FF show up. The army starts targeting the FF because of their crazy powers, and Doom gets away after taking a liking from the Thing and Human Torch. They start calling him Doom because he said something like "I am your doom." and they can't find his blog's location because he's too smart for that even against a mind like Richard's. Epic end of movie fight reveals they didn't capture the real Doom. He had used a decoy at the last moment and what they thought was Doom is actually one of his Doom-bots. Post-credit scene shows him flying overseas to a country in the midst of civil war... Latveria?

I don't get the hate for Fantastic Four. So some things of the source material get changed up. So, Dr. Doom is not a king of a fake country anymore, big deal. Nowadays you can hurt more people with a computer than with a metal mask and a green cape. Dr. Doom's classic look in a realistic setting would look ridiculous. I'm not saying that I want every superhero movie to be grounded and realistic. I'm saying there's nothing wrong with that. And, it's directed by Josh Trank. Chronicle was great. He was hired to direct a Star Wars spin-off. That's not necessarily an indicative that FF will be good, but it doesn't mean it will be bad. It will most likely be good.

Holy shit...that soundtrack gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.It enhanced the movie's feeling and its nothing I've ever listened to before.Best Tarantino movie though...ah is difficult. He has made so many great movies. But,even if I enjoyed a lot Pulp Fiction and its a classic I think Django Unchained is his best. That was an amazing cinematic experience.

Well, I was disappointed not to hear "The Fountain" soundtrack as the best one... It really doesn't get any better than that.. ;)

I'd go for Conan The Barbarian staring Arnold. That soundtrack carries that movie. It possesses all of the emotion, moves the story forward, and glues all of it together. It might be the only good part of that movie, but its soo damn good that I actually watched all 2.5 hrs of it because the soundtrack was just so damn epic.

Question: Some people say leonardo dicaprio should have won an Oscar by now as he has been over looked so many times. What film do you think he should have won for? or should he get one at all? he doesn't even need to have been nominated for it to apply.

I like this the new Movie Fights format very much. It's fun, it's entertaining, I'ma keep watching this! I agreed with Hal most of the times in this episode. Usually I go with Nick because he is a 80's action purist. I like Spencer too, he's funny and makes valid points. The last episode with Interstellar was hilarious.

I'm incredibly surprised that anyone can call Jackie Brown the best Tarantino movie.
