@o o Most of all, you must be interested in music to do interesting reactions. I guess you're thinking of reality tv, but that's a whole different story. They have a big production team and a lot of money to dramatize it. How do people know you're not fake, just another bitter troll?

Musicians though are in a particular spot of being able to sell art to the masses with a special freedom of expression. There may be the look of artistic character, of noble intention, but often it's easier for a group to create some false profundity, fake depth if you will. Selling out in their eyes seems to be compromising one's morals for something fleeting like money.

The dancer slows her frantic pace In pain and desperation Her aching limbs and downcast face Aglow with perspiration Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire With just the briefest pause The flooding through her memory The echoes of old applause She limps across the floor And closes her bedroom door The writer stares with glassy eyes Defies the empty page His beard is white, his face is lined And streaked with tears of rage Thirty years ago, how the words would flow With passion and precision But now his mind is dark and dulled By sickness and indecision And he stares out the kitchen door Where the sun will rise no more

The reggae bit was inspired by Rush's appreciation for another 3-piece rock group, THE POLICE, which had a number of tunes with a reggae beat.

Back when I was in high school, the Rock station DJ played this every thirty minuted between 7 and 9 am to get us up and going to school. Shout out to WNOR 99FM Norfolk, Va!

That big transition to the reggae and big riff at the end of the song was them imitating cruising around the dial for some music.

The song that propelled them from basic group to superstars is the 7 part song 2112 a 20 minute eargasm. The song is a story of a dystopian future that forbids music.

That is the PROFESSOR!!! You have met the PROFESSOR! The late...greatest...Neil Peart! Not only does he make the drums look like a Picasso...he also writes the lyrics. We lost a God the day he died. A true, legit, Rock n Roll God.

1st, RUSH is Canadian, & we could not be more proud of how they represented us, 2nd, they were brilliant musicians & all could play more than 3 instruments, & only needed 3 of them to sound like a band of 5, and lastly, once you hear them, you are never the same, & now, you are one of us !!! LOL 😊 Oh ya, one of the reasons there were so many transitions in this particular song, is because RUSH, wanted to give the listeners the feeling of changing the channel on the radio!!!
