You absolutely should've read Sentinel. The card is one of the most interesting depictions of Shapeshifters in MtG. It grows to take on any threat it encounters, but only in a way that lets it survive, like a shadow twin of yourself that you can never beat and that will never beat you, matching you blow for blow forever.

Bird with a gun is a higher risk. Bat with a knife is my friend. :)

I went and looked at Scryfall's Windswept Heaths for a lighter version, and that printing is from a World Championship deck. When shown clearly the 'tree' actually looks like a ship with a figurehead that has that face.

During the Portal 2nd Age bit, I wish Wheeler had brought up the reminder text on cards from that set like Armageddon and Wildfire. Both cards destroy lands on each player's side, and each one also reminds you (This includes your lands.)

My pet peeve with Meathook Massacre continues to be why even put a hand on the hook? There's no meat on there. A bunch of empty hooks and a single hand? I'm thinking this guy isn't a very good butcher.

My nanogene conversion rant is that I think, in addition to targetting your creatures on the battlefield, I think it should be able to target your suspended creature cards. It helps it tie a bit more into the deck theme and feel less random, while still playing largely the same

I started playing Extended. My first deck was a G Stumpy with a U splash. It worked because of Rancor mostly and it rotated out of Type II like a month or two after I started playing. So without having any idea what it meant, I followed it. I've never been much of a tournament player. But my first tournament was Extended. I made top 8 only by beating the tournament leader 2/1, and another rookie in the 1st phase. I met the tournament leader again in the first game of the 2nd phase and defeated him out of the tournament. He was playing a mono B Reanimator with Avatar of Woe in it's hay day. Fun memories 😂 Was completely manascrewed in the 2nd game and lost to the W Weanie that won the tournament.

Seeing not a single person jump up at the cool DTK dragon that synergizes with Dash incredibly well (which was the red-black mechanic) made me realize that I too am destined to feel like Wheeler does any time a card from prior to 2005 gets shown. Khans block is to me what Kamigawa is to Wheeler and realizing people forgot literally any detail about it has me shaking my fist at the sands of time lmao

Wheeler is actually dead wrong on something here. Otaria has elves. Onslaught block is on the same continent and it has all the creature types that weren't in Odyssey block. Elves, Goblins... stuff like that. They just made the decision to not include them in the set.

The true rule zero is agreeing to a commander game where you can run out of color cards, removing commander damage, reducing deck size to 60, changing player count to 1v1, lowering life to 20, putting your commander into your deck, and allowing up to 4-ofs. Radical changes, but maybe people will play it.
