I flew 7501 nearly 20 years later at the beginning of my AA pilot career. At that point, it was less than a year from retirement.

The British de Havilland Comet may have been the first commercial jetliner, but it was the Boeing 707 that truly ushered in the "Jet Age."

N6101A was the first Electra to crash. February 3, 1959: American Airlines Flight 320 en route from Chicago to New York City crashed on approach, killing 65 of 73 on board.

I have an old, metal 1/43 scale travel agency model of N6101A with its American Airlines markings. On the nose on both sides it reads, "Flagship Greater New York."
