Today is a beautiful day and I am going fishing!! I use light gear and enjoy some amazing sport on an inshore reef with fish after fish after fish. I talk about the method and show you how to catch these fish too. I keep one healthy fish to feed my family.
The little spinners that I used today really nailed the fish, here is a link to them - amzn.to/3I7Zwnk

Thanks for a reply John, yes you don't need to worry about what you do, it's perfect and educational. We all don't stay in Cornwall, I'm in 5he Clyde estuary or very close by. 50 years ago it was the mecca with famous marks like the gamtocks etc. Pretty crap for the last few decades and we get the seasonal fish etc. If you have a yaught the Clyde estuary is heaven, but if your an angler it's been crap for years. If you can tow past me to fish the Mull, I might try that coming down your way for a holiday. Take care m8 and yes although with all those subscribers you might not know, I have very recently fitted a Chinese diesel heater in my boat which is going to Loch Tay this week and it will be tried and tested. Just took it off lomond this afternoon.

I just love watching your program. I used to love going fishing with my husband. We went out in the boat all the time. He had a stroke and passed. I miss him terribly. I miss spending the time with him fishing. And I miss eating the fresh fish and crabs etc. nothing like fresh. I’m too old to go fishing anymore. But I love watching others fish, the tournaments etc. so much fun. It’s good to watch others have fun at it. Keep it up. I watch for you every week. You’re so blessed.

Mary, I'm a female angler in the US and I don't know where you are, but I'd get in touch with the people that your husband used to go fishing with and ask if you could just go as a passenger on the boat. Fishing really doesn't have an age limit. I hope you can find a boat to take you out!

Mary, I understand about feeling your not able, but you could perhaps off a pier. I too lost my husband. We had such good times. I moved away from the coast and only able to freshwater fish. I do not shore fish unless I have a family member with me. I am afraid I am not fast enough and being hearing impaired I would not hear the hiss of a venomous snake. So I never go alone like I used to even with snake boots, not a good ideal. I do hope you find a way like I did to still enjoy fishing from time to time.

Excellent session as always, I agree 100% with your take only what you need policy. I taught same to my two. I took it a step further. I allot 2 30 gallon trash bags to every trip we took fishing. If the kids wanted to go again on my next day off, they had to fill at least one of the trash bags up with trash. I wanted to teach my now grown children that it did not matter who left the trash around. It mattered more who was willing to leave a fishing spot cleaner than they got there. Best to you all.

Thanks, John, for another enjoyable, productive trip on a lovely winter day. In addition, I'm always glad when you show people what an extraordinary difference bleeding a fish the minute it comes out of the water makes in the quality of the fillets. Speaking of which, it's also nice to see another veteran angler take time and care when filleting so as to get the most meat possible off each fish (and create good-looking fillets). My brother and I both do this, and a lot of our friends think we're too slow and fussy. Best, Chris (Maine, USA)

When I lived in China and around Asia. Sea cucumber was a delicacy. Not to my taste but the locals loved them. Also abalone which are easily caught in rock pools in the channel isles. Again not my cup of tea but the Chinese paid a lot for them. The people of the Channel Islands call them ormers. You can’t dive for, that’s ilkegal but they prevalent in rock pools

@@TheFishLocker No problem. You are living my dream! When I retired my dream was to move close to the sea and buy a small boat to use for fishing, crabbing/lobstering, etc. I’ve had that dream since I was boy. We have moved to a wonderful life in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. Unfortunately Tod is about as far from the sea as you can get and remain in Yorkshire! So it’s wonderful to see you doing the things I can’t! You can see from your face that you are completely smitten with what you are doing! Keep filming and keep smiling!

The thought of no fish in the sea is scary as we will have nothing to watch or catch you do the right thing everytime and some of these unscrupulous trawlers do more damage on one trawl than a 1000 small boats in one day. your a gentleman and a scholar. nice one crack on

Reminds me of when I was a boy growing up on the coast of New England. Catching fish in the morning, and digging for steamer clams in the salt flats later in the day if the tide was right. Nothing quite like sustainable living. Unfortunately now the commercial fishermen use those massive nets and pull everything in, and killing so much unnecessarily. Interesting that for thousands of years fishing was sustainable, yet all of a sudden in our lifetimes it’s no longer. I’m hoping they’ll stop before it’s too late. Nature does have a way of repairing itself.

It’s much like farming John. We have too many people who have grown lazy and cannot grow, forage or hunt for their own food. So someone must do it for them. And that requires large scale productions.
