I have never changed the plugs on any type of motor and ever been able to tell a difference in performance…..until now.!! My Sea Doo went from a dog to a beast for 7 bucks! The improvement in performance was amazing. Thanks for the tip, it was a HUGE help!

All of these newer 4 stroke water craft including outboards burn through spark plugs. 100 hrs or less and they are done. Cheap easy fix. Glad I could help. And thanks for watching..👍🏼

Let me know what ya think, is this a problem you have had only to realize the fix truly was simple? This is more common then you think from new 4 stroke jetskis to 4 stroke outboards.

Sure hope this solves my problem. Light tested from coil to spark plug tip and lights look good. Removed air intake so there is plenty air. Pulled injector rail and all 3 spray a strong V shaped fine mist. Ski ran once (fairly badly) and quit after 3 or 4 minutes. Wouldn't get on plane, bogged down and stopped. Fired up once more after several minutes but ran maybe 20 seconds and died again. Now in the driveway it turns over fine but doesn't even try to fire up. Ordered new plugs. Sure hope it's this simple. Thanks for the video!

Well I hope for your sake it is as well. And once the problem starts it just tends to get worse. Please update after or if you find another issue but you went thru all the other steps except the easy one first lol. Again I have seen plugs die in a little as 10 hrs on some units. I don’t get it. Normally 50-75 is pretty standard. Ok hope to hear from you soon. 👍🏼🙏🏼

Went thru 6 plugs in different combinations as 3 were "virtually" new. 2 of those 3 were on the shelf from purchase several years ago and pretty sure they'd never been in motor. Any way, stop at Autozone ($3.49 each btw) and 3 new plugs later and the joker fired right up. Hard to believe no other combination of those original 6 plugs would even try to fire it but that was the case. Thanks so much as you have saved me some grief!

Dude that’s awesome, heck yea!! Yea so many times I tell people start simple, if it’s a ski or even the new 4 stroke outboards just change the plugs first. Dude so glad it helped. And don’t buy any crazy fancy plugs the parts counter guy try’s to sell ya. Just stay with what is called for and Honestly NGK have always served me well....👍🏼👍🏼

@@johnnysweekends been working on outboards, jetski's and all sorts of engines for 40+ years so I should know better but honestly I have never seen a motor so sensitive to plugs. Seen rough running, almost cranking, all sorts of stuff but never seen one completely dead when plugs were giving at least some spark. But yeah, hopefully lesson learned on my part. Thanks again brother!

Yea was and still am on the side a jet ski and marine mechanic as well but slowly getting out, but agree the 4 Tec motor is sensitive to plugs the get a certain amount of hours or coating on them. Like they are to good for older plugs😅 Right on man and hey everyday we still learning 👍🏼🤜🏻😎

Great video. started my sea doo gti 155 back at the end of March with no problems. since the it'd been on a trickler charger and tried started. nothing no beep, no dash..any suggestions? thanks

I did answer this on another reply but still check battery voltage because I have seen chargers just die. That way you know your starting with full power..👍🏼

I have a two year old Scarab with twin Rotax 300HP engines. One engine wouldn't start, replaced the plugs at 65hrs and all good. However the tach still shows it is surging. I guess I should replace the plugs on the other engine. Not certain I took off the metal cap off the tip of the plug. Would that be the culprit?

Yes replace plugs on other that way you are doing at the same time and yes make sure the tips are removed like the old plugs. Unless they changed the plug caps but I think they are still the same.

Always start simple…. Double beeps ? No then you’ll have to pull codes or get different key Yes…. Good battery? Does full pump click on and go off? Does it crank ? Have you pulled plugs to look and inspect? What do they look like?

I have a 2020 GTX 230 that won't beep, no power to gauge cluster. Fuses are good. Could this be a bad wiring harness or computer? Battery drains really fast when trying to start so likely needs to be replaced. Could this just be a bad battery issue?

In order to diagnose problems accurately a good battery is a must so you know proper voltage will be displayed when testing. Water sports batteries have a short life span especially if you let them die over the off season and not keep them trickle charged. If they die they can literally have less then half the capacity and or even create shorts. I would definitely replace the battery first as this is a easy first step which more then likely could be your problem. Unless you wanna fully charge your current battery and then load test it. Hope this helps

Hi I have a question about my seadoo gtr 230 2020 it only 44hs some how I run in the lake and it just run up to 45 mph max normally run up to 60 mph or around 6000rpm to 6800rpm do you know what’s going on with it? Thanks

I have do the service at 10hs and next service is about 50hs but not seconds service yet, I check it and I didn’t see the learning mode I have no idea why it happen like that

They’re has 3 mode one is spot mode and eco mode but i always go by eco off mode that is normally I run with

Sometimes learning mode it with a different key. It’s a learner key which is programmed to run slower. If you are sure you are running the right key and prop is good…The I would change the spark plugs. You would be surprised how quick they die. I have seen one fail in as little as 15 hrs…🤷♂️ and I don’t know why watercraft go through them fast sometimes. Go buy 3 of the ngk plugs. It should say in the manual what it takes and the procedure to change them is the same in the video. Sometimes this is a quick easy and cheap fix.

I have a starting issue. Tried changing battery and plugs. Still no joy. Put some fuel down the spark plug shafts. Engine starts but dies after 10 sec. Any advise?

With your seat off, attach your key and listen. You should get the beep beep and click click bzzzz tik. Basically you should be able to here your fuel pump come on and pressurize for a couple secs and shut off. If it runs with fuel down the holes you have spark and compression is good but no fuel. So currently I would say a fuel issue so that’s what you need to find out is why.. Hard to tell with out being there but something to check.

Great video! Trying to get my ski going, Started it up in March no problem. Since then I've had it on a trickler charger for 3 months. Now no click or dash lights nothing. Tried jumping still nothing. Any suggestions?

I would still check the battery voltage and make sure it’s good and correct. Charger could have died seen it before. That way you know your starting with power then move to fuses

What are your thoughts on faulty Check Valves? How often are those bad boys the culprit?

Ahh it depends, I have found it’s less of a problem then more. Just depends how much water is flying in and out of the ski. Or even salty water will plug them quicker. One nice thing is they are cheap and easy to replace, to check that off the box.

@@johnnysweekends thank you! Yeah I’m going to swap my plugs out along with the check valve. I found it almost incomprehensible that my plugs would already be bad after only putting maybe 12 hours on my NGKs. I have a well maintained 2006 SeaDoo RXP 215 (supercharged) and it ran great the last run of the season last September. Yet, after watching your video and reading the comments you’re probably right. I have the jerky acceleration and sudden throttle burst. I couldn’t even run it long last week when I tried to run it. All the gas is fresh. Last run last year was a stabilized fuel tank which I always do and run nearly dry at the end of the year. No check engine light but the “Maintenance” light did flash at me.

Yea it’s possible because when they sit over the season, I’m not sure if a small coating or some kind electrolysis happens but they just die. Doesn’t matter the brand and I’m a big fan of ngk but the new 4 stroke water craft including outboards just burn plugs quicker so…🤷♂️

Thank you for the info!!! I have a 2007 Seadoo Wake 215. It ran great at first after storage. But once I shut It off and started it back up, it threw codes P0351, P0352, P0353 at the same time and a check engine. Now it won’t start. It will crank over and try to start for about 1 second then dies and throws those codes. Any tips on where I should start the diagnosis? Thanks for the help!

I have heard a few things about these codes all coming at same time which can be a few issues. Low voltage to starter and coils, fuse blown by ecm or even corrosion at a connector causing low voltage and more. I would start simple and check your battery voltage and load test. Make sure battery is good and connections are tight then head down stream to find bad connection or wires and work your way to computer/ecm and check fuses. Hard with out being there. I have heard this can also be a bad ecm as well.

@@johnnysweekends I just got it a couple days ago. The guy said supercharger washers were replaced and the plugs, filter, and oil were done at the end of last season. I’ll be looking through to check out the connectors on battery, fuses of the 1, 2, and 3 coils, and the coils themselves. Definitely a bummer after a first ride. Ran perfect on the test run and ride home. That’s what stumps me.

The kicker is that the ski is In absolute PHENOMENAL shape. Hardly any blemishes on the body and 26 hours on the engine. But like an old collectible muscle car, that can be a blessing and a rare find or a curse.

Yea weird how that works. One thing you can also check is the spark plugs. The resistor cap I believe needs to be off for a full connection. So you could check that to make sure the little caps are off. Other then that it would be a process of elimination. Maybe even disconnect battery for a few minutes and let the system reset. Also a different lanyard key as well. Let me know what you find

spark plugs are good for 200hrs easily on the 2016 and up models. 250hrs on mine and still going. seadoo recommends replacing at 200hrs. 25hr replacement is absurd ( oil change is every 50hrs!). you got something else wrong if that is the case

They say that but all depends. I see them last 100-150 up to 200 but see them give issues as low as 50. Even the newer 4 stroke outboards seem to eat plugs in 100-150 hrs.
