I finally put together a How To partially tear down the external hard drive i showed in my last video. Model number model STEB8000100. It is farily simple to do but you need to keep safety at the front of your mind. You can hurt yourself doing this so be careful. Also, you could damage the hard drive and loose all of your data. So be careful if you choose to try this. Good Luck!

I used this hard drive (4) times to backup data since purchase date, and now it's not powering on whatsoever. This will be the last measure if I can't figure out why it's not powering. Thank you for showing me how to crack this baby open!

It's clearly a Seagate ST8000DM004, you can read it on the label. Should be 5,400 RPM

Use Philip's head and don't stab myself, got it. You are a tinkering fool. Spark's battery capacity is down to 14.2kwh (38k miles), if you were curious. I track it pretty frequently, so I think it's fairly legit (as the drop has been pretty linear). I have a boneheaded theory that the Spark pack output ratio (capacity/peak power output) is right around that of a Tesla performance pack (ludicrous mode specifically), and that maybe launching the Spark A LOT is at least partially to blame.

Tinker is the only way. Dang, 14.2 is kind of low. It could have something to do with the winter time? I am commenting on your latest video now.
