Love the look. It might be worth mentioning to folk that you can only use the iron and paper technique on solid wood as it will lift veneer.

I’ve used a water based satin urethane on my raw wood projects and so far I LOVE the results! With my first project, when sanding between coats I failed to wipe the dust completely off... As a result, my can got saw dust in the urethane and tinted my project with a slight creamy hue. I’ve since been very careful to wipe completely after sanding and have had great results! I love it!

I love the look of raw wood but was concerned about the upkeep - I'm glad there is a solution for high traffic and outdoor applications!

I have a beautiful rustic coffee table. I had coated it with a high gloss poly. After you could see every scratch and mark. I sanded it down and used a satin poly. It looks great and it doesn’t show all the grandkid abuse. I love it. Go satin

Totally wish I would have found this video before finishing a side table with 2 coats of wax! I love the raw wood look as well. I'll have to build up the strength to get in there a redo it with the poly! 😅🙃

I love raw wood too! You can also use liming wax, it’s fast and doesn’t have the wax coating. It white washes wood and gives the look of raw wood. 😀

Wow, those pieces are beautiful and now you can relax and know they are protected. I love that you treasure your furniture. They are sure to be heirlooms one day. Thanks for sharing. Any reason why you did not opt for marine varnish? I heard it's what is used to seal boats. Thanks for sharing. xoxo

I think marine varnish would work - but it's pretty spendy! If someone already had it on hand, it'd be a good option, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying it just for projects like these! :)

Thank you for the “lightly sand between coats of stain” comment. I had heard that years ago but no one emphasizes that anymore and I thought I was just confused. I probably missed this in your videos somewhere but did you make the macrame pillow on your bench? It’s beautiful.

Thank you!!! I have an antique raw wood table that I've had since I was a teenager (ahem....a LONG time ago!). Because I really didn't pay attention to how to care for that kind of stuff back then, I used it as a makeup table! It still has the stains and oils from years of makeup and then dusting spray from my feeble attempts at getting it clean. Do you think TSP would be able to clean all that off? I've wanted to clean it up and clear coat it, but haven't known how to clean it properly.

Very Helpful. What would you suggest for an antique bench that I bought at a thrift shop (still can't believe that score)? It has a dark stain, but I will be putting it outside on my covered porch for all seasons and it will get some rain and snow when the wind blows that way. Can you use the clear coat wax on an already stained bench?

Yes, you can absolutely use clear wax over a stained bench!

Question: Is the sealant they you ended up using all natural? I’ve stripped the paint off a Target kitchen table to give it that antique look, but it MUST be an all natural sealant that can protect my wood from water with a matte-satin finish. 「(°ヘ°) Any suggestions?
