It was all left wing talking points, he made extreme left wing statements then stepped it back, reformed the statement so it was palatable. Marxists call this pushing the Overton window.

@@aguspermana8643 Yes, both are possible. The issue with claiming you have a friend of a different race is that it isn't actually a defense. @Stuart Penman Do you think Marxism is the only form of socialism? The quote I gave above shows that he was someone who believed in atleast some sort of distribution of wealth. You are confusing the man for the comedian. There are many interviews in which he shows genuine care for working people and their rights. Also he's was left wing. That didn't make him tribal. Being tribalistic would mean that he was a Democrat, which he was not. He did not believe in electoralism, which is also a tenet of Leninism and a few other left ideologies. Watch his critique of capitalism in 'The American Dream' special. Heres him lamenting the loss of worker rights and the rise of corporations: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ob6YjdxytNvdmHk.html

We were blessed to have this very intelligent and witty man amongst us……..a master of comedy. So unfair and sad that he died so young. A tragedy. He used to make me cry with laughter. Watching this I laughed so hard, but they were different kind of tears, hot little tears of sadness that welled up in the corner of my eyes, they didn’t run down my cheeks and I wasn’t crying. I was just hit with such a feeling of sadness. I saw him live once in London and I was cackling with laughter the whole way through. Comedy genius.

I think it all depends on the style of the artist. Even though greats like John Mulaney can easily be enjoyed via just listening to him, his physical demeanor matches his deadpan delivery and it really does add a certain something to his act. Some acts are weakened by physical comedy and pre-cooked joked imo, for instance Bo Burnham. I love his work and his damn near clinical timing and dedication to memorizing his material is phenomenal, but sometimes it comes across as if he's doing everything he can not to improvise. It limits him a bit.

Dry humour means subtle and deadpan. Watch most British standup and you'll notice they don't laugh at their own jokes, they're focused on wordplay, etc. Of course we have a lot that aren't but even in this for instance he's mimicking talking points that anti-pc people have and dragging them out to ridiculous extremes (wives, wives, wives). Dry doesn't mean serious or unfunny it means subtle. Hell I'd say Bill Hicks and George Carlin and a lot of other American comics are dry.
