He's just like Buddy Holly: actor/musician Zachary Stevenson takes his role seriously by visiting Texas, New Mexico and Iowa - three states that were significant in the pioneering rock n' roller's life.

I still remember the day the music died, I was only 13 but I was into rock n roll heavily back then. Even though Buddy and his companions are gone I am glad someone takes the time to remember the man and his music...Thanks.. Wayne..

Holly all but disappeared for a number of years ... you didn't hear his name, they didn't play it on the radio, and you could not find it in a store ... it was like I was his only fan.

Remarkable how three R&R legends, still "live" fifty years after they were simultaneously killed. Seems like they keep the "The Surf Ballroom" alive as well. Three young souls we all love. God rest your mortal remains while you continue to live forever.

When I first moved to Iowa, I drove up to Clear Lake (was going to visit the spot there the plane went down but went to the Surf instead. I wound up doing about 10 minutes solo acoustic in front of the Surf Ballroom)

I know a guy John Anderson who flew to the US drove to Lubbock and got to jam with a guy who had jammed with Buddy Holly. I will be green for the rest of my life about that. I wrote a story once - wishful thinking that Buddy Holly had a car accident on the way to the plane, lost his memory and regained it 20 years later. Buddy Holly was so influential for such a short career. I'm pretty sure he's the reason we all played Fender Stratocasters, started writing and producing our own songs and became tight self contained units like the Beatles.

Glad you put Clovis, NM! I really hope you get to come out to the Clovis Music Festival that we have every year that is in memorium to Buddy Holly, most people dont even know of how much Buddy Holly loved this place. He even called it his 2nd home because it was so close to Lubbock. Next time you come down go to Foxy's Restuarant, it was Buddy Holly's favorite place to eat at.

Thanks, I like it. It was cool of you to do this video. I lived in Lubbock from 1957 to 1966 every fall from September to December out on First Street before all the new additions were built and there were always kids at the talent shows wanting to imitate Buddy Holly never Elvis for some reason. I saw one guy who was really good that did a talent show in Shallowater Texas.

Very cool video. Thanks for sharing! Your son sounds a lot like Buddy! I have been to the Norman Petty studio twice over the past 12 years. It's like a religious experience for me. A good friend of mine actually helped Vi Petty run the studio in her final years. Buddy Holly, Buddy Knox, Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs, Roy Orbison...that place is a rock and roll shrine! Paul McCartney (a huge Holly fan) visited the studio several years ago also. Someday I will make it to Clear Lake.

Hello, Jhonny. Come to Texas anytime. You'll definitely be welcomed with open arms. And yes, the music still lives on. My stepfather grew up with Buddy and I heard all the great stories about him and what made him great. Most importantly, he LOVED music. He truly loved music, and to me, that's what I hear the most in his music. He felt and expressed the magic.
