I agree with the grey area thing it’s the best appeal of the show to me. I don’t like things rhaenyra and her uncle husband has done but it’s more likeable characters to me on team black that’s why I lean towards them tbh.

I get what they are doing with the helmets, Hollywood has always been cringe about needing to show faces of their actors, but DREDD shows how you do it right. Karl Urban kept that god damn brain bucket on his head for every shot and people fucking love him for it. If westerosi ride into battle absent a helmet, they are taking a dirt nap. And if they ride with an open face helmet all the martial class is going to look like Prussian mad-lads who scarred their faces with dueling sabers because they thought facial scars were metal.

One little Theory that I have is that Rhaenyra ends up being the one who orders the murder of Aegon’s kid. Perhaps it truly wasn’t Daemon’s plan, but in Fire & Blood, the maesters try their best to paint Daemon as nothing but a monster because they favored the greens but in the show Daemon is definitely more human. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make Rhaenyra be the one to order Blood & Cheese given the fact that season 1 ended with her being filled with sorrow and rage. And the fact that in episode 7 of season 1, Rhaenyra suggested that Aemond, a 13 year old boy at the time, should be “questioned sharply” regardless if he had just lost an eye… *(In the world of A Song of Ice & Fire, being “questioned sharply” is Westerosi euphemism for torture.)* This would add even more shock value to the already brutal scene that is definitely going to happen. It would also make some fans of The Blacks look at Rhaenyra differently instead of blindly siding with her because she’s pretty much the main character. It will also make some fans of The Blacks question which side do they truly favor or should they be choosing sides at all? War brings out the worst in people and Blood & Cheese should be portrayed as a prime example of that! This war will be atrocity after atrocity and it’s going to be the innocent who suffer the most. George is very well known for detailing the grisly side of war and never romanticizes it…which always gives a story more tension and fear for the lives of our characters.

Green Team is where the braincells congregate in this fandom. It bothers me to no end that the show tried to make Aegon cartoonishly evil. They couldn't settle with him being a r***st, they had to make him enjoy kid pit fights and not just with any kids, but his own illegitimate ones! Funny how in this instance they did not go the "it's just historical hyperbole" route, but they prop Rhaenyra up at every turn with "the records are Green propaganda" excuse. One of the most braindead takes is when I see/hear fans (from minority groups no less) claim that Alicent's children are not true Targaryens. I can't even.

Honestly, the whole thing with team black thinking that Jace and Lucerys should inherit anything is completely ridiculous. Like you guys said, all of these same people rooted for Ned for saying the same thing.

3:55 the helmet is a crowned barbute, an Italian helmet typically used by lightly armored soldiers using crossbows or firearms, but Aegon using an open-faced helmet with a crown on it in battle is basically saying "come at me, bro."

Go Team Green 💚. Praying to the Old Gods & New that they make this season more balanced. And to be fair, they don't need to do much to make it balanced to the writers credit. I loved the last season, and it looks kinda like they are making it more balanced. But my fingers are crossed nonetheless. I'm not saying Greens are rainbows and sunshine, but neither are the Blacks, more specifically Rhaenyra. They shouldn't keep exaggerating Aegon's bad actions under a magnifying glass. If not outright inventing them. While minimizing Rhaenyra's or outright shunting her worst actions onto Daemon to keep her hands as clean as possible. One of her nicknames being "Maegor with T*ts" was earned. This is suppose to be a terrible civil war between terrible people. Now I totally agree Aegon looks to be having something of an upgrade this coming season and appears to be less of the Joffery-Lite caricature they mostly had him as in Season 1. Though the constant referrals to the Greens as Hightowers by show and some of the fans is getting a little annoying. They are Targaryens. The Blacks aren't the "Starks" of the Dance of Dragons. Even if most of Rhaenyra's kids look like Starks.

Team black enjoyer here, but i get your critique of the depiction of both teams. I still hold that there is sufficient material for people to be sympathetic with team green, but they didn’t have to do Aegon that dirty. And they made both Criston & Rhaenys do some out of pocket dumb shit 😢. Totally on board with them giving the blacks distinctive banners. And praying to the Seven that there’s no more illogical scenes just because the creators want something cool looking in season 2.

I think casting messed up. Aemon (Ewan Mitchell) looks WAAAAY MORE Aegon-ish than Ty Tennant. He just has that Arryan look. As kids, Aemon was the short ugly kid and Aemon was tall and a little better looking but not much. So yeah... the new King Aegon looks NOTHING like a Targaryen!

B&C only did the act in retaliation for Unlucky-Lukey's death. The King set the stage for the Blacks, by decree, the Greens went crazy trying to change it. Murdering those who stuck by their word to V, bullying the rest by example, hurried crowning like cowards, and filling Aegon's head with fear to make him take the crown...bleh! There's no good there, show-wise. I'm really team Dragon and both sides suck because they basically wiped them out, but those Greens...grrrrrr.

I thought the greens were the lesser evil in the books & made more sense for inheritance but the show perspective makes root for the blacks cuz aegon looks like aegon IV & sucks & would be horrible, plus his son is so young so if he didn't last long you'd have a child king, and rhaenyra comes off as being a little better cuz her family seems closer & better like I'd rather have her or daemon as parents over alicent or aegon, plus she actually wants the throne where aegon doesn't & didn't expect it, and the show makes jacerys look really good & like he'll be a good leader & was raised better to rule, people that have no clue what's going on are probably like "hopefully aegon dies & rhaenyra and jacerys is king at the end, that'd be a great ending he'd be the best ruler"

I don't like the dragons' portrayal in this show, to be honest. they look awesome, but are basically just fire breathing dogs. I grew up playing DnD, and those dragons were smarter than humans by a LOT. they could speak, cast spells, and a single one could rule over vast swaths of land for centuries or millennia at a time.

Can I hate them all? The only character who wasn't a total dewsh was Viserys. Everyone else is gross or evil or stupid or greedy or power-hungry or a mix of those. Viserys 💪
