It's because Paul is a writer and a producer, not an actor. He said in interviews that acting was the hardest part of the show, rather than directing and writing some of the episodes, which he did.

I took TV Pro in high school, it is REALLY REALLY hard to reset once you start laughing about something on camera. Like you come completely out of character and then have to get completely back into character directly after laughing.

As much as I love that Dwight got married in the series finale, I still think a better ending should have been Michael and Holly's wedding and it would have been a perfect place to have everyone that's been on the show past and present make an appearance. They sort of did it with Michael's movie Threat Level Midnight lol but a wedding would have been great I think.

I might be over analyzing this but I think steve Carell sometimes fake laughs when others mess up so they don't feel too bad about the retake, like he laughs at the mistake so everyone will laugh instead of getting annoyed. It's hard to tell since he's such a good actor

At 7:04, that spank had some jiggle to it. Very nice. But they didn't keep it for the real scene. I wouldn't be surprised if it got awkward because of how many times they had redo the scene. That's just my opinion though. lol
