why aren't conmen responsible for paying back the money swindled from their victims. they should be put to work and not let free until they return whatever amount is possible. by going to prison they still use others' money in form of an upkeep.

Yes, indeed ! Such people should firstly serve a lengthy prison sentence, and then be forced to work to pay back the stolen money ! This guy will however never change, and I’m sure that he’s planning his next crimes. Such people need to be put under constant (electronic) surveillance once they are released from prison. He will be a constant danger to society as long as he lives !!! As the video shows, he was even playing the conman in prison !!!

Yes. The problem with stupid people is that they can't imagine anyone smarter than they are. A clever person can imagine cleverer people or stupider people. But the person who is not very clever - but thinks he is - is never capable of imagining that anyone can see through him. Another problem is that they are used to scamming this individual in this moment: I can convince this person I'm a doctor; this person I'm in love with her; this person that my check is good, etc. But what they forget is that they are not up against one busy policeman who may not be very smart (or may not have a lot of time to spend on one case). They are up against a network of police officers from the whole city or country or even much of the world. They are up against a team of people on the side of the law. They are up against bystanders who witness something, remember it, and report it. They are up against all the people they conned in the past who can tip off current victims or the police. Even if they kill the previous victims, they are up against multiple investigations into disappearances or murders - and that means a whole lot of law enforcement officers who can compare notes and put two and two together. They just aren't able to imagine that a team of potentially hundreds of people looking for him or investigating him could possibly combine all their intelligence (both in the sense of brains and information) and catch him.

It’s simple - ask these conmen where they work, call the company to check or ask if you can accompany them to work one day. I know where my accountant, Dentist, Doctor etc. offices are all based. Every guy I’ve dated, I’ve been to their workplace. Also, wearing fancy clothing doesn’t mean anything. Richard Branson wears a plain white shirt and jeans, Simon Cowell and Mark Zuckerburg wear t-shirts and jeans and all are wealthy. Anyone can buy a suit and pose as someone they’re not.

Knowing where someone works doesn't stop them from swindling you. Lots of doctors don't actually have degrees or worse they deliberately kill their patients. Accountants can easily steal all of your money and disappear. It doesn't matter where they work, you don't know what they're doing behind closed doors unless you put them under constant surveillance. How a person dresses and carries themselves is a tell-tale sign of old money and new.

He made a big mistake stealing the £46,000 and going to the cops lying he had returned it. Luckily he did though as it lead him to his fate. After he came out of jail he probably resuned his crimes but hiding behind another profession to con money out of people.. These victims should have been suspicious as if he really was a barrister why is he operating from an office at home ?

What is 5 years in prison, when he drove people to bankruptcy, he should a much bigger sentence and be obligated to pay the money back. I also ask myself how people can fall for this con man. When it comes to money your red light should go on, specially when he offers a return of 500%. This stinks!!!

I never agree with what the forensic psychologist says but I know she’s obviously qualified in her field. I don’t agree that people assume everyone they meet is truthful. In fact, most people are wary of strangers and struggle with trusting what people say. However, initially, we might believe someone who tells us what they do for a living bit when things don’t add up, people either ignore or dismiss the red flags or do something about them.

It takes a year for a law access course, 3 years to get a law degree, a year for the bar and a year for pupillage. Literally just become an actual barrister, it's less time and effort. He could have just gotten a student loan, and then in 6 years he's earning decent money and in a few more years he'd basically have this exact lifestyle but it's not a con. I don't get it lol.
