This particular song not only won a grammy , but it broke The Beatles record at the time (I think it was for staying in the number 1 spot the longest at the time for 8 weeks if I remember correctly)…the single on its own went double platinum selling over 2 million copies world wide. The album it appeared on “East 1999 Eternal” I think sold 4-5 million out the gate and has now sold over 10 million certifyibg it as a Diamons selling record. The song is a dedication to thier friends and family who had passed away including thier mentir Eazy E who was the person who signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993. Eazy passed in 1995

How have you not heard of Bone Thugs? These dudes are super legends in hip hop. Been in the game for 30 years and still putting out music…still have a cult following and still tour. Grammy award winning, only group ever to work with Eazy E, 2Pac, Biggie and Big Pun while they were alive. They’ve crossed genres and have worjed with all kinds of artists. You mention the Commedors? Look up Krayzie Bone and Commedors…he collabed with them. Krayzie being 1 of the 5 members. They’ve also worked with the likes of Jonathan Davis (of Korn), Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, the Marley Borithers among many many other legends showing thier versatility. As others have said, I suggest you do some research and give them a further listen…most influential rap group of all time and the majority of todays rap is influenced from Bone

I honestly this came off a little disrespectful and I was anticipating a little more open mindedness considering I’ve never seen your videos before and you’re not the typical demographic for this kind of music. At least on the surface. I would suggest at least minimum research before reacting to a group that you’ve never heard. I say this because Bone Thugs have a huge following and history that is full of drama and excitement. They’re still dropping music to this day, almost 30 yrs now. That being said they’re not classically trained for singing. They have a huge catalog and some songs are only singing some are a mix and some are just straight rapping with little to no singing. They are definitely the pioneers of the triplet flow that you got a brief example of on this song. Eazy E is the one signed them to his label Ruthless Records and that suggested adding the N Harmony part to their name after listening to them because of how much they harmonize. Bone Thugs N Harmony have had a lot of influence in the rap game. They’re living legends. Krayzie Bone and Bizzy Bone are amongst the top echelon of MCs. They’re more than just rappers. Personally I think they’re well rounded artists because of how experimental they are. I’m biased being a die hard fan and maybe I over exaggerated but I feel like there was an overall disrespectful tone. Hopefully you give them another chance. They are a talented group. Also prayers to Krayzie Bone who is in the hospital right now due sarcoidosis 🙏🏾

This group was rappers and not R&B Singers, so comparing to other R&B artist and Lionel Richie you’re prob going to be underwhelmed. That was never their talent or genre. They came onto the RAP scene with the triplet flow (which hadn’t been heard of that time), which really was like their baseline and just mixed in harmonies (which was also a first in rap). They kind of took the rap genre by storm and were really successful in it. I’d recommend giving some of their other hits a try, but they still might not be y’all cup of tea.

The first time I listened to this song I felt the same way you guys feel right now. However, I feel the song was way before its time allowing it to deliver a message and feelings that a typical R&B song couldn't do nor a typical rap song. The problem I initially had with it was I was initially looking at it as an RnB song expecting typical hooks and bridge ect, however, the unorthodox structure took time to get used to and once I got used to the structure I was able to then digest the message and feelings behind the song. In the end, this is a unique song that has not been repeated even though there are literally millions in the budget of many record companies for those who can make another crossroads. As a matter of fact, even to this day Bone has been asked to make another Crossroads, and even though they have been successful using certain elements from this song, nobody has been able to quite put the pieces together the way this song is constructed. The best analogy I can come up with is a rap version of Bohemian Rhapsody another song with a million moving parts, but the execution of placing these parts in the perfect place separates it from any other song. The pure beauty of this song is that it basically created a different genre of music, not quite singing and not quite rap, but in the end, it has a whole lot of what's missing in today's music, SOUL.

Oh man, if you guys think you're thrown for a loop on the structure of the song and how it's not conventional, wait until you listen to Outkast, more specifically Andre 3000. You never know if he's going to start on the one or the two, you might split a word to end a bar then the second syllable of the same word begins the next bar. It's bananas. This wasn't a version of the record that was planned, which is why the earlier release of E.1999 had a different Crossroads on it. That one was dedicated to their homie who was essentially the 6th member, but he was killed before they met Eazy and blew up. While out on tour they kept getting call after call about friends/family dying (most notably Layzie's child and of course Eazy E) so they went in the studio and produced this masterpiece dedicated to everyone they lost.

I was really into this video until I hrard the term RnB, Bone is actually a hip hop, who's rhyme patterns are similar to a TechNine or Twista. The only difference is Bone started using more harmonies once their second album "E.99 Eternal" came out. Also, when they speak of their dawg getting killed, they're not talking about the animal "dog" its a reference to his homie, or his friend. Definitely gotta get more into hip hop language before you react to hip hop jams or the video will come off a lil weird. Its all love tho, I enjoyed the video, just wanted to point those things out, keep rhem coming...

It’s called creativity, lots of things going on, but only creative minds can catch the lyrics, the cross overs and paint a picture. None of those weak rules 1-2 whatever. Different culture, white folks uses 1-2 cha cha for dances while everyone else dance to the rythme.
