i feel so lucky i never hit my head in all my years of skateboarding. i hated my dad for making me wear a helmet the few times he took me to a skatepark, but i’d do the absolute same with my kids. hopefully skateboarding will have changed enough by then that they’ll feel okay doing it themselves rather than me forcing them.

This is why imma always wear a helmet from now on.

Not to belittle his altercation but he is gonna be just fine a lot working out and figuring out on your own first then with the help of others . Therapist couldn't help me because I didn't have faith in my bodies ability to come back so my perseverance wasn't there. 13 - 14 years later With only 5 years of pt /ot couldn't get myself walking. It was a start to get me going. Got creative with exercising. Walking now , independent, in college studying anatomy and physiology and I have a job . I'm trying to accomplish everything I was supposed to accomplish earlier on and hope on inspiring others . Came across this video trying to get more function in my fingers .

Hes doing much better the most recent update I found was last year and he's already up and running the mile !

The irony of him being forced to wear a helmet in the hospital after choosing not to wear one on his board. I'm still dealing with post concussion syndrome 5 years after hitting my head on the underside of a solid wood reception desk. I am NOT going through another bout of concussion without a fight. And my helmet is my shield when I'm riding my board, bike or scooter. The people that laugh at me for it probably never even broke a bone let alone got dinked on the skull.

I know how to fall also, and after my entire life of being very active, i recently just hit the back my head (do have concussion, right ear is like dead and can’t taste or smell) on the street penny boarding down small hill did a dozen times, lil pothole distracted me as my footing was slightly off about to take the turn concerned about traffic all at at once an just crashed, tried back peddling and catching myself but board went under rite foot perfectly and just landed on butt/ back and head whipped back and down, Narley man, absolutely nar

It doesn’t matter that you’re an adult to wear skateboard protection, what matters that you need to wear it because it keeps you safe. Always wear a helmet safety first.

Late 80's...Kona Skatepark =, Jacksonville Florida. Riding a Kevin Staab Pirate Deck on the "J Run". Had never fallen backwards where my head slapped the pavement before that day and never did again - but that day I did. Had I not been wearing a helmet.... Not good at all. Glad Kona required it that day. Wear a helmet

inter active metronome is awesome for traumatic brain injury. I know from experience. music is awesome medicine

Helmets do nothing to protect against mTBI's/Concussions. They only "help" limit skull fractures. Brain injuries will still happen because the soft brain suddenly stops inside the boney skull. That is where most of the damage happens. YES- do wear a high quality helmet and make sure it is properly and tightly held on your head (they often fall off.) But know that you are not invincible just because you have one on. In fact, I opine they lead to more brain damage because when you strap one on, complete with the RedBull Logo, you feel like a protected person. You are mostly NOT. People will jump off cliffs and do really dumb things in part because they are wearing some old gear. Gear that, in reality will do very little to actually protect you. It sells gear and can limit the extent of some injuries but if you smash against a hard object, mostly you are done. I hope he continues to improve. Family should learn about diet and healthy fats and meat and no carbs.

😂Great show! Congratulation... By the way, did you know that there are 3 types of roller-skaters: Those with properly fitted helmet, those without helmet & those with loosely fitted helmet. The first one likes their brain (Although they might overestimate its value), the second type prefers their comfort vs their longevity, & the third type, with loosely fitted helmet, who don't give a sh... about their usefulness on earth (Could be right about that:). The third type puts up with all the discomfort of wearing a helmet & none of its advantage...Same for skateboarders: Seattle skateboarder slowly improves from traumatic head injury
