They fell out AGAIN a couple years before Kobe died because his mom asked Kobe to buy them another house and he refused, after which they tried to auction off some of his memorabilia. He sued to stop them, you can search his old tweets talking about this and how hurt he was by it.

I read a article where kobe said he bought his parents a home and cars, he said he didnt like the fact that after they had everything they needed, his mom felt the need to sell some of his things he let them have to a auction. That made him upset, Maybe his parents were asked to speak and didnt want to. And for people saying they were in the back they were in the front at the memorial.
