Because I had just done a second rendering of a few batches of wax, I decided to add to this video what those renderings looked like, and they were beautiful. However, the main focus of this video is an update on a hive removal Charlie and I had done 4 weeks prior. I get a lot of requests about doing updates but I never seem to get around to them, but because I was feeding these girls so much and I was very curious myself, I did the video.
For those who missed the video on the removal, that link is below, and for those who missed the video on the wax rendering, that video link is listed below as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

Mr. Ed, when I look at dark clouds, I can always tell when it’s fixin’ to rain or storm. In Pennsylvania, where I come from, thunderstorms, often referred to as thunderheads and thundershowers, and severe thunderstorms, commonly referred to as severe thunderheads severe thundershowers, and on rare occasions supercells, are common occurrences in hot weather, but because I’m a gardener and a God loving Christian man, I believe that God brings the rain. And in my belief, the tornado I witnessed in 2017 was God’s way of sending a warning to my community that a tornado can spin up anywhere. As for bees, I’m fond of them. I’m not afraid. But when it comes to wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets, I stay away from them. I know they’re aggressive. My dad got stung by a yellow jacket.

What happens to the bees body when she dies in the hive?do they just throw her out with the trash? If so have you ever seen piles of bee bodies by a hive before? Bee safe.
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Жыл бұрын
If a bee should die in the hive, it is the responsibility of a hive bee to remove her body from the hive. Often they fly out of the hive and deposit the body away from the hive, but if there is a pile of dead bees right outside of the hive, that is an indication of poisoning, and the bee itself came out the hive to die but did not get far. God's peace Lamont. Mr. Ed

At what time do the larva get capped and after capping how long before they emerge?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Жыл бұрын
Generally, after an eggs has been laid to the time it emerges as a larva is about 5 days. Then the cell is capped and about 12 days later the bee emerges. God's peace Larry. Mr. Ed

Anyone have any suggestions for getting a honeybee hive out of our house, without cutting anything? Backstory: We have a hive that's basically in kind of an outside corner overhang/eave and I think it might go up into an inaccessible area of the attic. We absolutely cannot afford to fix any damage to the house that might be necessary to remove them humanely. We also can't afford any damage the bees themselves might do, which is why we need them out. Every "bee relocator" we've contacted can't help us in that regard. They're happy to do the removal work for free, but they can't repair anything and can't pay for repairs (I'd never expect them to though!). I was looking for something like the honey robber spray to maybe chase them out, but it's approaching Fall, and then Winter, and I'd worry about them having enough stores to survive the cold and snow if they had to build a new hive right now on their own. We don't want them *gone*, just not living where they are. Anyone have any thoughts?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Жыл бұрын
The hive can possibly be removed using a "trap out" method. There are lots of videos made on the process. It is a long process, possible up to a month long, but they do work. The bad thing is the comb is still in your house and that would be another issue that needs to be addressed. God's peace. Mr. Ed

@@JeffHorchoff I acts as oxidizer and is antiseptic, so it works a bit like bleach, but it leaves no residues besides water. So for sure it does not do harm to bees or humans and leaves no chemicals. It is just an idea, I have no experience if it works. But if it does, you might get a wax with a lighter and nicer colour. I would use that when your wax is contaminated by brood and has a nasty coloor, on the other hand it might also take away of the smell of the wax. So it is an experiment to try on some nasty wax with the wrong color or smell, if it can improve the product.

@@JeffHorchoff Found this..... "Beeswax can be lightened by warming the wax, over water, at just below boiling point (of the water) and then hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is added, which boils... forming very small bubbles that rise through the molten wax. This "wets" small water soluble particles that were previously suspended in the wax and allows them to separate. There is also a bleaching action as the "spare" oxygen is released. This process needs to be performed in a vessel that has tall sides so that the violent foaming does not cause spillage of wax and water."...so probably needs to be done vey carefully, and anyway the golden colour is the real colour of beeswax.
@adamabele785
@adamabele785 Жыл бұрын
@@PelicanSoup Yes, I thought about stuff that is more brown, reddish, black or grey, that has some off-colour. You do not need it, if your wax already has the right golden colour that you look for. And of course you start with a small dose of the stuff until you know what the right dosage is and how it behaves.
