In June of 1974, President Richard Nixon and his cabinet were bound for Damascus, Syria, on a diplomatic trip to restore political ties with the Arab country. But while Nixon was discussing the precarious situation with his aides, they were suddenly thrown to the floor.
Air Force One had banked violently, and seconds later, pilot Colonel Ralph D.Albertazzie told the passengers they were in imminent danger. Four Soviet Mig fighters had just encircled the aircraft, and there was no way out.
The flight was about to get rough, and it was now up to the pilot and the maneuverability of the powerful aircraft to outmatch the enemies.

Join Dark Skies as we explore the world of aviation with cinematic short documentaries featuring the biggest and fastest airplanes ever built, top-secret military projects, and classified missions with hidden untold true stories. Including US, German, and Soviet warplanes, along with aircraft developments that took place during World War I, World War 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and special operations mission in between.

After albertazze's retirement he and his half brother opened a 76 truck stop in WV. They also started a television station which, if I recall rightly, didn't do to well at all. Don't remember if they sold it or just closed down the tv operation. I used to work for albertazze and his half brother at that truck stop which, today set a Walmart and other stores.

"Every aircraft that carriers the president is designated AF1"... that is not correct. Whatever branch of service the vehicles belongs to that the president is in is designated '1'. Thus AF1 is ANY Air Force vehicle. Thus MARINE 1....if he was in an Army Chinook it would be ARMY 1. If he was in an F-18 (or Navy boat of any kind) its call sign would be Navy 1. Good and entertaining video nonetheless.

No, not every aircraft carrying the POTUS is callsigned Air Force One. There was one aircraft designated as Navy One: a Lockheed S-3 Viking, BuNo 159387, assigned to the "Blue Wolves" of VS-35, which carried W to board a carrier. Army One was Army helicopters, which carried the POTUS from 1957 until 1976, although prior to 1976, helicopters alternated between Army and Marines and currently, his helicopter that picks him up at airplane inaccessible locations, such as the White House, is Marine One. If the Space Force is issued an aircraft and a POTUS would ride on it, it'd become Space Force One, which would be intolerably cool for the office. ;)

4:56 one of the most notable suck-cesses of the Syrian air force in this period was the disruption of Jordan King Hussein's vacation to Switzerland. Hussein on November 10th 1958 was piloting his own plane a De Havilland "Dove", through Syrian air space when he was attacked by 2 Syrian soviet-built Mig-15s (-17s ?). The king outmaneuvered them & made it back safely to Jordan. The Syrians claimed victory in suck-cessfoully cancelling the king's Swiss RR, & the king could claim victory by making British turboprops defeat soviet jet engines, which were British-built in the 1st place.
