How about Governor's Island? Get the ferry from the terminal to the left of the Staten Island Ferry building and be rewarded with a 5k run around a beautifully landscaped and very quiet part of New York with views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline.

Governors Island [note the strange absence of the apostrophe!] is indeed gorgeous but unfortunately open only May through October.

The high line is great if you can get there early enough. Prospect Park is the start the NYC Half which I did last year and your clip from there brought the happy memories of the race flooding back!!!

That's my hometown!! I always liked Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, but I could run there from home and I didn't drive until I was 18 - and then I moved away. I've run Central Park, but not many other places in NYC. Thanks for the tour. I'd love to run van Courtland when I go back in June, but I'll be staying across the river in Jersey.

Good vid, I was in NY 10 days ago and had a couple of great runs in Central Park - Did the JKO Reservoir and it was beautiful. It was - 8 degrees and I was traveling light with a thin run kit but it was still a fantastic place to run with beautiful views. Woul definitely try some of the other options mentioned in this vid next time I go

The old croton aqueduct is another great trail that runs north out of NY for 26.2 miles and passes through sleepy hollow and into the Rockefeller estate. Well worth checking out, especially the section north of Tarry Town.

I ran in Prospect park in April last year, was a great spot! NY is decent for running, despite how densely populated it is! The bridges are cool too to run across.

I ran round the Jackie Onassis Reservoir at Central Park about four times which is about 6 miles considering its diameter while on holiday in 2016. This was a bucket list moment for me because im a huge fan of the film Marathon Man starring Dustin Hoffman and his running training sequences were filmed at that very Reservoir back in 1975/76. What an experience, it was Running Heaven.
@cathynewyork79187 ай бұрын
You wrote on this video that you ran around the reservoir in Central Park because of the movie Marathon Man. There is another bit of "running trivia" about that reservoir running path. In the late 1960s, a garment-industry executive named Fred Lebow took his first-ever run around that reservoir to try to get himself into shape to play tennis. He struggled to get once around the 1.58-mile path - but he loved it. He fell in love with the sport of running, abandoned tennis, and eventually founded the New York City Marathon! Thank goodness Fred loved running at the reservoir so that he went on to establish our beloved NYC Marathon.
