After the second episode of Secret Invasion, we're convinced that Rhodey is a Skrull. We combed through the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and all the way back in Iron Man and Iron Man 2, there are a litany of clues that War Machine is a secret villain in the MCU.

Skrulls] have invaded the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Replacing characters we know and love by taking not only their skin, but their memories too. And we think an OG MCU character who’s been around since day one could be one of these Secret Skrulls-Colonel James Rhodes. [clip, Tony “Rhodey?!”]
We went back through the history of the MCU and found out that-holy hell, it makes PERFECT sense if Rhodey had been a Skrull this entire time. So we’re going to present our evidence, and also talk about the eerie fact that Rhodey was recast in 2010’s Iron Man 2.
Doug: Surely that was just a coincidence.
Sure it was. [punch in] or maybe it wasn’t. [punch out] But yeah, it probably was.
We started thinking Rhodey could be a skrull because of how he acted in this scene with Nick Fury. Rhodey is acting really weird, not like himself. [clip, Rhodey being rude and dismissive of Fury]
Now there’ve been plenty of times in the MCU where Rhod ey has been stern or blunt with Tony and other members of the team. But in this interaction with Fury, you can see Rhodey slightly smiling as if he’s enjoying the confrontation and taking pleasure in firing Nick Fury.
The Rhodey I know would never act this way [clip, Mace Windu “it’s not in his character.”]
But I could easily see a Skrull being unable to hide their smile when getting to fire a man they hate so much for his broken promises.
And listen to how he talks about his security [clip, they jump in front of bullets for me]
This just doesn't sound to me like something Rhodey would say. He’s the type of guy that would jump in front of a bullet to save someone's life. So I don't see him making light of something like that. Sounds to me more like a Skrull who’s dismissive of human life. [clip]
So I wanted to go back and compare this interaction between Fury and Rhodey to past interactions from other films. But here’s the thing, there are no other interactions. This scene in Secret Invasion is the first time we’ve ever seen Rhodey and Fury share the screen.
Sure they were both at Tony’s funeral and the battle of Sokovia, but still, we’ve never seen them actually speak or interact with one another, until now.
So for all we know their relationship may have always been adversarial. Rhodey has always had trouble coloring outside the lines in his government role. [clip]
Whereas Nick Fury on the other hand has always had trouble coloring inside the lines. [clip]
So the stark difference in the way Rhodey and Fury conduct themselves while on the job could be an existing rift we’ve never seen. (Zoom in) But I still think he’s a Skrull.
Rhodey being revealed as a Skrull would be an even bigger gut punch than the Everet Ross reveal in episode 1. Now whether Ross has recently been replaced by a Skrull or has been one [clip, the whole time] is yet to be seen. We’ve actually got a great video up on the channel dissecting how long Ross has been a Skrull, so be sure to check that out.
Anyway, Rhodey has been around since the beginning. He was there for three Thanos fights, the time heist, and the death of Tony Stark. He participated in debates over the Sokovia Accords, the final battle with Ultron, and he was even there for this [clip, “I am Iron Man” and point to Rhodey]
Doug: Who’s that guy? That’s not Don Cheadle.
Well remember buddy in the first Iron Man Rhodey was played by Terrance Howard, not Don Cheadle. Cheadle came in as Rhodey in Iron Man 2.
Doug: Oh yeah the recasting thing.
We’ve got a fun theory about how they could retcon this recasting into the MCU with a little help from our old friend, KEVIN [kevin clip].
But first, let’s go back and look at all the signs over the years that Rhodey was actually a Skrull, all along [what!].
Well, let’s go through the history of what we know about Colonel James Rhodes, aka war machne, aka iron patriot, aka, Rhodey.
It’s possible Rhodey has been a Skrull since even before Iron Man 2. Rhodey may have been a Skrull from the moment we met him in the first Iron Man.

Forgive me if someone has already said this and I missed it. But Rhodey could not have been a skrull before his fall accident. They said he barely had a heartbeat. If that was true, he would've turned back into skrull form at that point, just like Talos did in the last episode just due to major injury.

Logically it probably happened after Endgame. If consistency mattered, it would definitely happen AFTER Endgame. But the thing is, the modern MCU doesn't care about consistency or being logical. A celestial started to crawl out of the surface of the Earth, and the only indication of that being a thing is a single news article in the background of She Hulk. Think about that for a moment. A gigantic humanoid figure emerged from the ocean and had no lasting consequences besides one news article being like "Hey look - a giant statue." And everything about Doctor Strange from Phase 4 onward is character assassination. There is no way that Doctor Strange would ever start casting a spell that has the potential to break all of reality without at the very LEAST explaining it so that anyone else in the room won't ruin it. They don't care about consistency. Honestly, I'm not even sure if they know they're being inconsistent. I think they're not even bothering to check whether what they're writing now contradicts what they wrote in the past or not.

Not necessarily There of course exist artificial methods to slow down ones heartbeat, but as seen with Prescod when he was shot only the lower parts of his body reverted to their Skrull form. So he could have either faked the slow heartbeat through medication or training or he was actually injured but then it isn't impossible only the area around his injury reverted.

as I said above, Rhodey has been a skrull after endgame (when past Thanos drops the Avengers building on top of them we can see him that he can't walk and he's got blood on his face -- skrulls can't immitate human blood) -- in Secret Invasion , Skrhodey isn't using any walking aid. Also, his demeanor changed drastically in Secret Invasion

man i gotta say, as a lifelong MCU fan, secret invasion is the first time since infinity war that i have really loved the way the MCU feels. videos like this and all the talk of secret invasion feels genuinely good again. i hope they manage to keep this up (also W video! loved it!)

I could see him maybe having been replaced after the fall, but then that would mean Rhody has no idea that his best friend died. That could take away from that entire funeral scene we got in endgame unless they have a similarly beautiful scene in Armor Wars where Rhody shares his reaction to the news that Tony is gone. I dont think thats the route they would go though. If Rhody is a scrull, for sure he would have been swapped after endgame.

During civil war that was Rhody based off of the fall. Skrulls revert back when they are severely injured. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any Skrulls running around since the 90s looking like any and everyone on Earth because they have to blend in. It could have been a swap after civil war, up until now during the funeral in Endgame. If Secret Invasion don't show us that which I doubt it we will definitely find out during armor wars. Armor Wars might be a prequel to what's happening now in secret invasion ijs.

It was 100% after Endgame. This is because when past Thanos came into the future, and demolished the building, the next time you see Rhodey, he has red HUMAN blood, which means he was hurt, but didn’t turn to Skrull form. It must have been somehow in that leap from Endgame to The Falcon and the Winter soldier.

Fury and Rhodey’s conversation was too real, it’d be a gut punch if he was revealed to be a Skrull during all of that. I actually buy Rhodey’s legitimate resentment over his accident, Tony’s death, Fury’s absence, etc and could totally see that just being plain old Rhodey. I’m more concerned about his security detail, and I think they’ll eventually capture him, but he’s not a Skrull yet.

I think it’s recent. The reason I think this is because - while I agree with you on the impact of having a long standing character being a skrull - I think marvel is aware that there’s considerable fondness for Rhodey. And I think they’re aware that making him a skrull would cheapen the death of Tony. I also think that if anyone was going to figure out that someone close to them was a skrull, it would be Tony stark and I just don’t feasibly see Rhodey hiding this from someone like Tony for a long period of time. He would notice. Now, he’s dead so I guess you could just ignore that but I do think this aspect is important. Even if Tony didn’t know what Rhodey was (like even if he was somehow unaware of the skrulls which I don’t believe for a moment) you cannot convince me that he just wouldn’t have noticed or wouldn’t have had technology that noticed. I do think we are going to find out that there’s long standing skrulls but I don’t think they’ll choose Rhodey. Just like they made sure all the main avengers survived the snap, they’re not going to make someone like Rhodey a long con skrull. I think Ross has been a skrull for awhile. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they chose someone like Hawkeye. Or you could do Sharon or even fury. I get the shock of revealing a loved character as a skrull and having it being a big moment. But marvel knows their audience and I don’t think it will be Rhodey.

they specifically say in the show that secret invasion started ONLY after Endgame, when Fury dissapears. Thats when Skrulls finally realise Fury is not gonna fulfill his promise and they start replacing people in government (Rhodey included).

If Rhodey is a Skrull, it's way more likely to have occurred post Endgame. Having it happen prior to that really kills the fact that he was Starks best friend and one of the three people there at his death with Pepper and Peter.

it changes nothing. The Skrull could have develop real feelings just how Fury married a Skrull. For all we know he could decide in the end to betrayed the Skrulls because of his relationship with his friend during his time on Earth.

It’s either rhodey’s a skrull or he’s a traitor. Rhodey being a skrull most definitely happened during near present time of when the planning of the attack by gravik happened. If rhodey is a skrull then that means he got captured.

Unless that Skrull had been Rhodey all along and had genuinely loved Tony. Similar to the deep friendship between Nick and Talos. The real Rhodes met Tony met in college and then didn't see each other until years later, just before Iron Man 1. Plenty of time for any character change in the Skrull replacement to be unnoticeable to Tony.

No the only way to do it is this. We know from what we have seen in Secrect invasion rhoady is a skrull buttttt the only way to do this to where it doesn’t ruin the sadness when he knew tony was gonna die and him crying at the funeral The only way to not ruin that and spit in the face of all those great scenes is to basically say after the events of falcon and the winter solider rhoady got captured or he figured out somthing was wrong and went to investigate he was captured and simmed rhoady that way it doesn’t ruin those good scenes

One thing I would like to propose is that Rhodey is actually “just” a lawful good. I think that’s always been a part of his characterization, and it works well when contrasted with chaotic goods like Tony and Fury. The reason I put “just” in quotes is I want to make it clear: there is nothing easy or lazy about the writing a lawful good character. It’s brave and difficult to pull off a lawful good character, because they’re inherently unlikeable, think Hermione. They have a tendency to be self righteous and trusting of the strictures of power, willing to work within the establishment. The writing world is full of batmans, Rhodey doesn’t need to be another one.

Agreed. The only time he is ever seen disobeying orders (even indirectly) is to protect Tony Stark or Steve Rogers. Otherwise he is very by the book.

In secret invasion they said a millions scrolls came to earth but they came after the snap, so at age of ultron and civil war there was still a limited amount of scrolls and fury knew about who was who, so it would of happend after the snap, he also could be a good scroll

The work around our retcon to cover this would be that his medical team were all Skrulls and covered up any removed tissue that would revert and expose him as a Skrull

@@NYCHotDogStandsthey never showed how close they were working. He could’ve been working close with her bc he was a Skrull n wanted to find out what her deal was. In the opening scene of Endgame, he challenges Cap Marvel ab y she hasn’t been on Earth. Sure all the Skrulls came after the snap, but maybe they had been planning something long before. So they took Rhodey first, or one of the first, n expanded after the snap

I really hope Rhodey does not turn out to be a Skrull. That scene between him and Nick Fury was one of the best character interactions in the MCU and it would really cheapen both the scene and the character to have "real Rhodey" show up and contradict a really character-defining dialogue.

Wasn't there a point in the comics where even the skrulls didn't know they themselves weren't the actual person they were pretending to be? Also it makes it BETTER if that's how convincing the skrulls are in their interactions. It's no good if the audience isn't able to believe in the characters authenticity.

t seems that many people have overlooked Rhodey's leg braces. Rhodey has been wearing leg braces in every scene since getting injured in Civil War. Upon closer inspection of his knees in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, one can observe a glowing light emanating from under his pants. This suggests that he was likely abducted after the events of that show. If you look closely during Secret Invasion Rhodey does not have the glowing lights on his knees under his pants like he did in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

It has the same problem with the Ross theory. Rhodey had to receive medical care after what happened in Civil War, someone could've figure it out there if he was an Alien.

I think Rhody being a Skrull would be too easy.. everyone thought of that from the first. My theory is that actually his attitude towards Fury was actually to help him... a cover of sorts. Oh and let's not forget the movie Armor Wars which has him as the main character...

My thought was that Rhody deliberately kicked Fury out because he knows that every resource he could officially provide to Fury is compromised by the Skrulls. He wants Fury outside, relying only on his own secret resources that he never shared with anyone, because that's the only way he might be able to win.

Rhodey was visibly bleeding and unconscious after his fall in civil war when tony took off his mask. Since he was still rhodey at that point and his blood was red, not green, it goes without saying that rhodey was not a skrull all along. He was most likely captured recently as Graviks insurgency was just beginning.

I think that it's more believable that he was replaced during Endgame because we have seen so little of the character since then (in fact, only one scene at the beginning of Falcon and the Winter Soldier).

The part I find so unbelievable is, with all the alien species we've encountered in the MCU, Fury and Cpt. Marvel still haven't found a planet for the Skrulls after 30 years.

To me this is one of the bigger mysteries of the show that isn’t getting talked about much. I can’t imagine they failed in finding a planet. Was it Fury’s hubris that made him think he can just use the skrulls as his spies and not keep his end of the bargain? How much of an effort did he actually put into finding a planet for them? I don’t think they just “failed,” I think there’s another reason, we just don’t know what it is yet.

There is a lot of mention of him going pretty much AWOL, and a lot of implication that he's just given up on the earth after the blip to explain everything since then. Before then you are talking about either finding habitable planet and setting up infrastructure to support around 1 million people who are used to working with modern technology or finding a planet already inhabited who are okay with a million people joining them who can look like anyone they want and who have very, very powerful intergalactic enemies...

facts, well fury had somewhat of an excuse. he’s only human and it isn’t often he went up into space. he spent his years after captain marvel trying to create the avengers, and once that happened he had to deal with hydra and he had to fake his death and keep on the down low, then he got dusted and was technically dead for 5 years. But after he came back he was up in space for the entire time just chilling tho so idk. and captain marvel literally travels around space all the time and it’s not like she had any major conflicts to deal with for 30 years besides thanos.

Counter-theory: Tony and Rhodey met in College and were just party buddies. The entire real relationship that developed afterwards was between Tony and the Skrull the whole time. It doesn't cheapen Tony's death because that Skrull really was Tony's friend and loved him in a way that a vapid ROTC party boy never could.

The weight of Tony's death isn't impacted by Rhodey being a Skrull. It's not like Rhodey was the only one to clearly have an emotional reaction to his death. And also, that makes their friendship tragic if Tony didn't know (and conversely Rhodey).... These two supposedly best friends never had a proper goodbye to each other. Personally, I think it'd be a bold (if not telegraphed) move to have Rhodey be a Skrull.

I like the fish out of water approach, like you mentioned in the first episode review, with Ross being a Skrull for a significant amount of time. Maybe a joint venture of both human Ross and Rhodey awakening and finding out they have been in stasis for years/decades. For Ross, he isn't even a government agent. He was just some college kid or rando off the street that was kidnapped. And then having to deal with the actions and lives that the impersonators left them. Something similar to support groups of the snap, but this time it's Skrull impersonation.

To me, it makes sense that Rhodey was replaced after the Blip. Talos confirmed that the million Skrulls came AFTER Fury hid in SABER. which happens after the Blip. Before then, it is conceivable that Fury and the Skrulls were still under the deal. Otherwise why would Gravik not try to assume control during the 5 years which would be a great excuse for Skrulls to replace the Vanished. Which by the way, would be a great One-Shot for a marvel feature. Fury would have known everyone that was a Skrull until he did not know how many Skrulls there were

Skrull or not, the most logical point for Rhodey to have been replaced is post-Endgame, or else the emotional weight of a lot of moments will be retconned and that changes a lot of the films, especially Tony’s death scene. Also, Gravik’s plan for infiltration clearly was a response to Fury leaving post-Endgame, so the replacements starting after that is the most sensible.

It actually bothers me to think he's been a skrull this entire time and that during secret invasion we could watch roadie wake up for the first time in almost fifteen years and have to watch him realize how much catastrophe and lost there has been. But I also agree it would be one of the most amazing plot developments to push armor wars forward and give him a reason to want to come back and set everything straight

We know he was at least not a Skrull before Civil War. When he gets saved from the Skrull compound he still paralyzed, and that happened in Civil War after Vision hit him with his laser. My guess is probably some time after the blip, because in Infinity War he getting used to the Stark Tech they implemented into his legs to help him walk again.

While i do think rhodes is a skrull, he was able to take the MK 2 because Tony thought he was dying and at the donut shop Fury and Widow say Tony had "protocols in place to prevent such a thing" but because he was dying the suits were always meant to go to Rhodes when tony was gone, which is how he took it, or at least that's what the donut shop scene implies

I think rhodey is clearly a skrull but ONLY for this series for three reasons. 1) rhodey is one of the only main characters aside from the main cast in the show. And one of the only members that can be revealed as a skrull for shock effect. 2) it would make no sense for him to be a skrull the whole time and also marvel just dont have the balls to make him a skrull the whole time. 3) He acts so differently in this series to any time beforehand and even nick fury makes a comment on how rhodey was always about saving lives and protecting the world and is out of character for him to be so aggressive about how hes reacting to nick.

Wait, I think this (the when of Rhodes being replaced by a Skrull) may be a reach, Rhodey even though is the best candidate for the Skrulls to infiltrate the Avengers, we know that Tony willingly gave away the suit to Rhodes because he's the person in the government Tony trusts the most. As indicated by the "Please exit the doughnut scene". He didn't go to the military base in the middle of the night because to show how cool the suit is and how impressed even the people on the hanger found it if there's not too many people on the base, that was probably just to add the significance and the need the government had in the acquiring an Ironman suit. It was just for the movie. Also, Rhodes couldn't get into any of the suits in Ironman 3 because Tony didn't make another suit for Rhodes, like he did in Ironman 2. He also couldn't have gone to Sokovia with the Avengers because unlike all of the Avengers, Rhodes is actually an active member of the US military, so him being there with the Avengers would've made him a US military personnel operating on foreign soil without the go ahead from the govt. He joined the battle when S.H.E.I.L.D. joined in. If Rhodes was replaced by a Skrull, I'd say it was after the events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He rose from being a Colonel to being one of the people who has the ear of the POTUS. Because he knew that Fury was on Earth really quickly and we see the Skrulls know about it right after. His exchange with Fury was really suspicious, because Rhodes was very much between Cap's Boy Scout attitude and Tony's reckless and carefree attitude. But now he just turned into a cocky guy who isn't afraid to pull rank and was more than glad to get rid of Fury. Also, if it is revealed that Rhodes was a Skrull before FAWS it will undercut the moments where Tony and Rhodes were in the frame together especially his death.

I agree with the Actor Swap/Glitch in the Matrix Theory. It follows the current MCU universe theory of being created by K.E.V.I.N (and this universe gets left behind b/c Deadpool 3). It wouldn't be far fetched at that point for the Skrull Rhodey to become a part of the team, and develop legit comradery for the Avengers; After all, they are fighting to save the World. I wonder if we'll get flashbacks to SkRhodey being told to stay out of things like Ultron, and we find out he's gone rogue to help his new team of friends. I'd put money on Skrull Rhodes turning on his own kind, and fighting for the family he chose versus the family he's given. Possibly breaking out the original Rhodes

here is a super small detail I haven't seen you explain yet though, this whole taking over the world thing started AFTER the blip because they felt left behind by Fury who broke his promise. Which led to Gravick and the other Skrull's plans. So it would be somewhat impossible for them to want to destroy humanity when they were saved by the people before the blip. But I would think it would be after EG due to Disney doing stuff like that all the time. It would suck to see him be a Skrull but it is expected

I’m not sure how long he’s been a skrull, but Rhodey definitely seemed like on in the scene w/ Fury. Specifically when he mentioned something about “they’re Hydra times a million” in response to Fury. I don’t recall Fury saying anything about there being a million Skrulls on earth, so that line feels like a subtle way of letting us know that Rhodey is a skrull and that’s why he’d know there are a million of them on Earth.

I believe he is, and I told a friend they could have swapped Rhodie after his accident. My mother worked with paraplegics and there is no way for him to return so soon. Although it is not impossible. But that person usually takes several years to not only get over the mental side of it but is generally left with a limp or a completely different gate.

I have literally been saying this since i saw episode 2... Marias death was just too strange a situation. I really believe she was a skrull since the beginning of the episode and this was all part of Graviks plan to emotionally break Fury. Remember Maria mentioned that she didnt call Nick back to Earth, Talos did. Also someone had to have been inside their circle leaking info, because how else would both the US powers in Rhodey (if he is indeed a skrull), and Graviks unit all receive reports about Furys return so quickly. 'Maria' emotionally foreshadowing her own death in the chess game, also her 'mother' interrogating Fury at the funeral, it seems like all pointing towards an effort to break Fury. All of the confirmed or expected skrulls tried to convince him that he's washed up, and tried to convince him to drop the fight, Maria was one of the biggest to do this. Lets not also forget that opening episode 1, Skrull Ross dialed up 'Maria' for an extraction when he realized he was being chased by Talos, and we're expected to believe Maria had no idea she had been working with a Skrull, when in truth she simply held true to her disguise after pulling up and seeing Ross Skrull already fataly wounded from his fall... something tells me the real Maria was captured by Skrulls and impostered long before Nick got back. Maria was also the one to pick Gi'ah out of the crowd of people and lead Fury and Talos down the wrong path when uncovering the bombs. How was she able to recognize Gi'ah so quickly in a world where not even Nick is sure whose who?? Theres a grand mindfuck on the way and its the only way Marvel can create greater shock value than that which was experienced by leading us to believe Maria (going on 11 years as one of our heros) died a pointless death in episode 1. Think guys, there is no way Marvel played it's Ace in the first episode of the series.

A skrull immediately changes back when it dies yes, but what happens if the death was faked just long enough for Fury to be evacuated from the situation. Episode 2 with the skrull that was being tortured showed us that they are able to hold their human forms even under a great amount of physical stress and they are notably stronger and more durable than humans. A single shot to the stomach is not the most fatal of wounds, and a skrull could likely survive longer than a human in that circumstance.

The same agent they're trying to link to the bombing that killed 2,000 of their citizens. I think Baron Zemo and numerous Sokovians were Skrulls. If the Skrulls had settled in the Sokovian area, that would explain why Hydra was conducting experiments in the region as well as Ultron's interest in destroying the place. This would also explain the incredible influence Sokovia had on the global politics concerning heroes following the disaster.

I think it's funny that it's assumed people don't change over time. Just because Rhodey acted this way back at the start of the MCU doesn't mean he has to act the same way (after going through all he has) now in the MCU.

We want him to be a skrull after iron man 1. Evidence seems like it happened after Civil war but logically it seems most replacements was after endgame when fury came back and left and they decided to take over

Regarding the first part about Rhodey’s antics, do you remember when Rhodey was talking about the tesseract to Rodgers in Endgame. He asked why he didn’t jump out of the plane that had bombs on it before it crashed, after the tesseract sunk in the Ocean.

In the video Ryan talks about how in the comics how he like to go back and re-read the old comics after learning that those characters were a Skrull. Got to say, I just don't see retcons the same way, although I get why some do. I just can't look at something differently that has been changed by a retcon after the fact. The writer(s) of the original work had no idea that a future retcon was coming, so trying to find some sort of alternative meaning in the older content because I know a retcon happens later just doesn't work for me. Like I can't say "oh, this scene in Ironman 2 is written this way because Rhodey was actually a Skrull" just feels like crazy fanboy behavior to me because it reads way too much into it. On the other hand, if it turns out Rhodey is a Skrull from Ironman 2 going forward but Don Cheadle comes out and says "Fiege told me this back in 2008 that this was the plan", then I'd be all in. And again, maybe that's just me. I'm all for retcons if they make for a better story going forward, but it doesn't change my opinion on previous works.

Marvel didn't even have the movie rights to the Skrulls back then, and had no reason to believe they would ever get them back. They definitely didn't have any reason to even think that the MCU would still be a thing 15 years later.

I think the "15 years" has to be important, and being between Ironman 1 and 2 would allow the awakened Rhodey to know about Ironman armor and remember being friends with Tony for Armor Wars. EDIT: would be funny if Terrence Howard ended up playing Rhodey in the final scene of this show and then on Armor Wars! LOL

Any Skrull replacement would come AFTER the Snap (when Talos told them to come and they felt Fury had failed them), any before the Snap, Fury knew about. The Skrull Council...Fury knows those people are Skrulls. He put them in those positions. If Rhodey was a Skrull the whole time, Fury knows.

I think this is the true Rhodey still. I think he will pay attention to what Fury said about his security detail, become suspicious and the Skrulls will capture him at some point to keep their secret and then they will become him to start some sort of war to clear SWORD/Avengers out of the way some how. I think it's him mainly because a Skrull would have been discovered after his fall in medical records (unless they can even copy that) and his reaction to Tony dying.

He also called him Nick, and Fury said no one called him Nick, they only called him Fury. Also his speech could be seen from the perspective of an African American but it also relates to the perspective of a Skrull

Omg we need to let go of him being called Nick and his toast being cut diagonally. This proves nothing. Fury's comments are simply alluding that he is typically called Fury by everyone. It doesn't make someone an alien for calling him something aside from his preferred nomenclature. Secondly the toast theory is just a stupid throw away line. He says if it's cut diagonally he can't eat it. It doesn't mean he is incapable of eating it, it just means he prefers it not to be cut that way. Thirdly Marvel will likely have continuity errors over things like this...which can easily be explained via the first two points as in canon.

@@robertbarnes1828 usually I would agree with you but one of the last words he says to him is Nick. It seemed like an odd placement for a name drop unless there was a purpose. And while Rhodey has always been a by the book kinda guy something about this felt cruel. Also the comments about taking power from mediocore men just to not hand it back to them seemed to going out of its way not only to be from the African perspective but remained as analogous to the Skulls as well. It could go either way and I’d be shocked no matter what

He swapped to a scroll It 100% after Endgame. This is because when past Thanos came into the future, and demolished the building, the next time you see Rhodey, he has red HUMAN blood, which means he was hurt, but didn’t turn to Skrull form. It must have been somehow in that leap from Endgame to The Falcon and the Winter soldier.

Here’s a few big problems with this theory; 1 -Rhodes couldn’t just “join the avengers” Amy time because his primary job is being in the military -he answers to them. No I’m the avengers is active duty military, not even Steve. So he can’t just up and leave when he wants. And oh btw he did eventually show up in the film, when it became an international incident -as he would on behalf of the military. And that brings me to the next point. He didn’t give the suit to the military as a “good gesture” (if he did, it was on behalf of tony); he did it because he was obligated to as it was part of his job. And 3rd point; he wasn’t just missing with the suit; he was filling in for a drunk tony stark who was supposed to be “on patrol” guarding the skies as stated clearly in the movie when he shows up to Tony’s house. Finally; why would the skrulls need tech when they already have ADVANCED tech? That’s doesn’t make any sense. And to put more of a point on that, Tony would define you know his best friend wasn’t his best friend -also tying it to the characters recasting would mean tony would also know this as well since he knows what his friend looks like.

I think Fury planted the Skrulls in those positions of power. They said they were spying for him. Makes sense that Shield would want to have plants in positions of power. This makes sense as to why the Skrulls felt they held up their end of the bargain, but Fury didn't. Fury being blipped and coming back a different man, allowed for Gravik and his ilk to pivot to a more hostile position, rather than the "play along and patience" position they had initially.
