Don’t tell her but I use the washing machine powder and boiling water, it really does remove the goo. It stains the blade but has no detrimental effect. Best regards from England.

Yeah I could see where wash machine powder is gonna be pretty good for removing the saps, But with the baking soda I would have some vinegar to that and that made be the ticket.

I FELT RITZY WHEN I SPENT ABOUT $50 FOR MY DIABLO BLADE and then you go and mention a $150 blade. I can't begin to imagine that gold plated beast. This video was an eye opener for me. I will have to sacrifice one of my five gallon bucket lids in honor of your presentation. BY THE WAY... Your channel is my Video Carpentry and Home Repair ENCYCLOPEDIA. Thank You Sean!

The buildup must be wood resins and micro bits of saw dust that sticks to it. Great tip, sometimes just easy common cleaning stuff you have sitting around the house that you'd never associate with the tools you use in the garage or shop.

I'm pretty sure his was a reusable pie pan, or deep dish pizza pan. They sell pans for draining oil that are the right size at some places, Princess Auto if you're in Canada. I think a lid would be the cheapest though.

I use a plastic rectangular boot tray, same one I use for my wet stones when I sharpen my plane irons and Chisels. And also been using spray nine for years, with a nail brush . I dry them very well and wipe afterwards with a rag sprayed with WD-40. Thanks again Shannon for the great video.

If you do it, take it out before the dry cycle and dry by hand with a dish towel. Because the steam in the dishwasher could make them rust. Probably not worth the risk in case you forget!
