Here's 2 (and a half) secrets you can do with this amazing loop pedal: amzn.to/2Ww03oR
I bought this ditto x4 loop pedal as a 'back up' pedal (I normally use the TC Helicon Voicelive 3 as my main looper and fx unit), and have been playing around with it. It's SUPER useful if everything else fails and this is your only option, although having to switch to double speed to get a bass line for EVERY song would get annoying. but... ITS POSSIBLE! and that's pretty fun and pretty handy!
Also... this is kind of a loop tutorial (you get to watch what I'm doing to create the basics of the Englishman in New York tune that I use as a teaching example), buuuut a lot of this is really specifically relevant to the ditto x4.

Creating a higher 'organ' type sound 3:36

Excellent video, thanks! If you don't mind a small correction, I believe Englishman in New York is a Sting song. It was released in 1987, 3 years after The Police disbanded. It's in the album "Nothing Like the Sun". As I said, excellent tutorial and great rendition of the song!

Hey David, Thanks for sharing this with us. Really great how you show the versatility of this looper. I have the Ditto X4 already four years by myself and yet I didn’t quite figure out how to use it correctly. Would you mind sharing how you have set the switches at the back of your ditto? Thanks a lot and keep doing what you’re doing - it’s just great!

hey Sebastian - I wish I could - gave this looper to Shim to create some violin loops and have fun with. This won't answer your question (I don't think he mentions the back settings), but is a great resource if this is your looper. wolfewithane.com/pedalurgy-all-the-ditto-x4-looper-pedal-tricks

is it so difficult for a company to make one simple looper that has 3 channels with one being a bass (octave on off) chanel? An all start stop button and a simple effects unit with a chorus and reverb will make things perfect. Thanks for the demo!

Two things about the Ditto X4, the buttons are a bit noisy and I wish there was a "short fade" and a "long fade"!!...other then that, it's super cool to use and very versatile!!...

haha yes to the fade options that would be amazing! Buttons are ok when it's a loud show - not so great on the more intimate settings though eh!

Nice try David :) All my TCE... loopers and pedals (3) just died on my board. Still alive, others US brands, not affected, such as 1 MXR, 2 KEYLEE, 1 CAE, 2 EH... Looper is just a practice tool - one track is enough (A low budget mini stuff in the MOD effect loop of your board). It's a crutch. And this one is x4 crutch (Sorry for my french, you know I love you David, you're so talented)

Help me. I'm deciding to buy Ditto 4x looper for acustic live preformances and I would like to ask if I can plug in two separete instruments in this pedal (in my case electro acustoc guitar and the electro acustic stomp box ) since it has the stereo mode?
@davidshanhun
@davidshanhun 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alen, yes, you can plug in two separate instruments. There are two jack inputs and they stay on their own channels, so you will have two jack outputs also - one for the guitar, and one for the electro acoustic stompbox. Works great!

That double speed trick is crazy! Love it though - do the audience enjoy the variation of doubling the speed of the track for a short period?
@davidshanhun
@davidshanhun 5 жыл бұрын
haha yeah pretty odd but interesting eh! ...I dont actually know the answer to that regarding audience response! I've used this at home jamming mostly as my backup, and fortunately (touch wood), haven't had to run it for a full live show - I think I would choose to do it on select tracks only if I was doing a longer show, and run my OC-3 pedal as the bass sound. One or two tracks its a cool gimmick, but if it was every track I think it'd get pretty annoying!
@olivergearing
@olivergearing 5 жыл бұрын
I think you’re right - you could get away with it for one track perhaps, and a couple of smatterings elsewhere. It’s quite a strange way for a hardware company to come up with a speed up/slowdown function, pretty unique as far as I can tell. For a guitar looper, unless you’re happy to double the speed of your track, it’s difficult to use live. I think you should give it a crack at your next covers gig... CHALLENGE :-)

Hey mann!! a help how do you connect you headphones to your pedal so that you can listen cuz I have a Rc 30 boss and I put my normal headphones but I can't listen to me pliz a help
@davidshanhun
@davidshanhun 3 жыл бұрын
Plug your headphones into the L/Mono output from the Boss RC-30. You will have your guitar/instrument plugged into the L/Mono input. Depending on your headphones you will likely have to turn up the volume on your guitar to max as the output is not designed to plug headphones in directly. It can work however and have done this in the past. 😊

You could use one of these impulse response pedals to make your acoustic guitar sound less quacky. In fact they are so goid these days that i can't really hear any difference. It just sounds so much better in the mix.

Wondering why there are no loop pedals with just a nice delay/reverb and octave effect? Having to speed things up or slow them down doesn't really work live.

Live it's not something I would do for every song, just a one off for fun and impact/intrigue in most cases. I use an octave pedal for the bass for live shows so that's covered already. I think the audience would get over it pretty quickly if it was used for every song to build a bass line etc.
