Today we started seeding!!! We go through the normal process of the start of seeding, and work through the hiccups that occur.
Had a few stubble blocks but everyone was kept busy today and we actually had a very productive day of seeding!!

Single disc drills becoming very popular here in Manitoba. Very good trash clearance and seeding depth consistency. Also a little faster travel speed. Higher upkeep though.
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm Жыл бұрын
They are gaining popularity lately, and would be nice to not have the trash flow issues! I'm not sure we have the right soil for discs, and chemical incorporation is a big thing. But I think it would be something that I would have a look at when it comes to change out the bar and bin.

Don’t worry I do three headlands and do them first. Never see a difference at harvest
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm Жыл бұрын
Glad I'm not alone! But I agree, we don't notice any difference come harvest time. The only thing I have noticed is on a very wet paddock this tractor smudges the ground when it turns at the end of the row and you do notice there. But that only on certain conditions.

I was thinking is you can't get a replacement valve, consider a blanking plate adaptor and perhaps a ball valve? I'm still 9 months behind and I refuse to look ahead so it might be fixed.

Jh ,.have you thought about using the wing frames that you cut. of to wide n the smudge bar.gyou could use two more chains to support each w ing
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm Жыл бұрын
I thought of doing that, however part of the wings are missing (taken for other projects) so it wouldn't be even towing behind the tractor. And just for simplicity and ease having the one solid bar works best for us.

Thanks for getting back to me and please keep the videos coming. 🍻🍻

I think its rather incredible that in years past, to pull such a beast of a seeder and trailer, you would have had probably an articulated tractor with either duals or triples at each corner and now you have 1 tracked John Deere. So what is it? The tracks give you so much more traction or is it the tractor has so much more power or both? Nice video. Thanks for all the interesting information!!

It is hard to believe, but with the tracks there is actually more rubber to ground then what you would have with triples!!! So basically the tracks just provide a lot more traction!
@billjoat
@billjoat Жыл бұрын
@@tomsbrookfarm Watched a video from a farmer here in the states and he uses articulated John Deeres with a pair of tires at each corner. He also was stating what tractor was which and when I went to tractordata I can see why you use the 9520RT. It has MUCH more horsepower than these other ones and surely with the wide tracks more rubber on the ground. Good job!! One more thing.? Are you the owner or the general manager or both?

@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm Жыл бұрын
Haha the old blame Canada bin. So we had a chaser driver who was Canadian and she got a little to close to the bin with the chaser and sliced the bin open. Easy fix but this was right around the time that South Park had come out with the song Blame Canada! So after dad had fixed the bin he got out the spray paint and wrote a little note for the chaser driver haha
