The lack of Snatcher is a crime. I wish Konami would let that one out of the vault. Pretty much the crown jewel of rare sega CD games and it'd be great to have some kind of official release. Edit: Apparently the Mini 2 and the Turbogfx 16 mini in Japan have Snatcher so WTF? Do they not think people want to play it over here or something? Are the licensing rights for the dub funky? What possible reason is there to exclude it if Konami isn't the problem? WTH Sega.

Besides the Lunar RPGs and Popful Mail being MIA, Konami couldn't add Snatcher or Rocket Knight Adventures in this thing? The latter has ZERO licensing issues and is one of the best action games on the platform (and of that generation) It really should've been included here. The game list (especially the exclusives like the new Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone ports) is still great so that's really saying something!

Ranger-X and Crusader of Centy have been in licensing purgatory forever, so it's great to see those finally sorted out. The Japanese Mini 2 has a bunch of licensed anime stuff, so they really went the extra mile there. They also took an old quiz game and updated it with all new modern questions. The English Mini 2 has way less curveballs in comparison, but it's still a solid lineup nonetheless.

A much more interesting games list than the original, imo. Very happy with this.

Yeah I wish they would've put a little more in on the Sega CD side of things (especially with Sega CD titles being one of the main selling points), but overall it's still a pretty solid little system I'd be happy to own and enjoy for what it is.

Some bangers on this model 2 mini, Crusader of Centy, Lightening Force, Ristar, Truxton, Shining Force II, Sonic CD, Hereog Zwei & Final Fight to name a few but model 1 had more must haves IMO. Odd some older games made model 2 mini and newer games made the model 1 mini, sort of a flip flop. Glad there’s more SHUMPS this go and SoR 3 is actually a great game, definitely underrated. Figured Working Design game translations like Luner series & Popful Mail would be difficult to license. Snatcher was something I had high hopes because Konami’s Contra & CastleVania made it on the model 1. Perhaps MGS is an issue with this or SONY on the building during the start of the games scene. Its a definite preorder for me regardless and I’m grateful Sega made this happen especially with the shortages that still plague supply chains.

Happy to hear Ian likes 3D Blast. atleast the Saturn version^^ I understand why it gets shit onn but it's still a fun game to me. I played it endlessly on Mega Collection for the Cube. and turns out it was the Genesis version.. years later I found out they made a Saturn version WITH a different OST made by Richard J. the man behind The beautiful Sonic R OST. ♡

Solid lineup but I think they missed out on omitting Snatcher, Popful Mail, and the Lunar games since they're including Sega CD games now. Those are some heavy hitters for CD titles.

I really hoped they were going to finally include Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder since it's never gotten a proper console release. That is a stellar game and my favorite in the series.

Without Snatcher they could have included Lords of Thunder for Sega CD. That game ROCKS.

They've not advertised it well, but the super scalers all have enhanced versions, presumably using the scaler chip in the cd 😀 I'm on the fence tbh, but it looks like a great system

I'm disappointed because they cut the Lunar games and Popful Mail from the western release and are making the system itself an import-only release.

Biggest problem is the lack of Sega CD games. Not having the Working Designs releases or Snatcher is a big miss. Keio Flying Squadron should have been a cheap license too but sadly not present.

Ninja Warrior is a wee bit more advanced than Kung Fu. You're a robot. And when you take damage parts of your body become exposed. Very large sprites. Solid game play. Ask Jonny Millineum about it lol. Edit it also saw an updated release on switch.

I want Centurion, King's Bounty, MM2 and Shadowrun.

Pumped for this, excellent set of deep cuts. Surprised it's this serious. By coincidence I sold a number of these titles out of my collection recently just to thin out the heard. This little package fits in perfect... Might even consider selling a few more 😅

The one game you guys didn’t mention that I feel most people are disappointed with is sonic 3 and knuckles. I know I know Michael Jackson legalities and blah blah blah. But they could have had m2 do a port of the newer release of the games with the new music and just kept it at 4:3 ratio. But alas, it’s not there

The lineup for this is satisfying those are who are interested in the Genesis library and haven't been able to pick up the harder-to-find games since prices on Genesis started to climb up/complete games got less common. Started noticing that 2-3 years before pandemic. There are some omissions, but they all have weird hang-ups (the Working Designs stuff, Snatcher, Sonic3 and Knuckles, Konami games, Alisia Dragoon if it's still owned by Gainax), and what they have instead is pretty cool, especially that unreleased puzzle game. This is the most appealing mini console to me so far, and it will be the least available one! I'm hoping they might do a 'sequel' to the Sega Genesis Collection that was released for Pc/Switch/PS4/Xbox, and maybe have most of these games on there.

This video reassured me a bit on getting the console. As a casual Genesis fan (grew up with SNES) I really got into Sega with the first mini. While I would have liked a couple more “commercial” hits (ex Jurassic park, turtles, Aladdin, eternal champs, sports title) and less rare/expensive games…I think that kinda what the console was going for. Some rare hidden gems.

It's a solid lineup. I was hoping for more Disney and Konami games (Aladdin, Gargoyles, Quack Shot, Rocket Knight, Snatcher, etc) as the first mini really went after the absolute best the Genesis had to offer. I then hoped it would be a Sega CD powerhouse to showcase what the CD add on could do (and the Mega Drive Mini 2 trailers were heavy focusing on the CD titles with their first couple of announcements) but only 12 titles and if you don't like Echo it's about 5 games you'll play more than once. It's not just Working Designs either. Plenty others to pick through. But for me the biggest kick is the price. The original was in stores and cost $80. The Mega Drive Mini 2 preorders were about $85 when converted but the US price is $100 (at least it's down from the original $105), it's Amazon exclusive and you HAVE to pay shipping so about $130 ($50 more than the first) to go with very limited availability. I'm a huge Genesis fan and there's plenty to enjoy here so I'm sure plenty of people will like it but I'll pass on this one.

The Revenge of Shinobi is actually on the Sega Maga Drive mini (from Japan) even though it skipped the US Genesis mini. I'm pretty stoked for this new Genesis 2 mini. I'm looking forward for "Lightening Force" (even though I bought it on Switch) and Splatterhouse 2. Actually pretty happy Earthworm Jim 2 is on it, too. I have it on the Saturn, but I honestly prefer the Genesis version for both games because I like the music for them most on Genesis. I think the thing about this thing that has me so happy about it is that it's not just "typical Genesis collection" bunch of games. I mean, the first one wasn't really either, but I like that they're still putting some neat, hard-to-get games on this. I can't wait to get mine!

I have 4 hdmi inputs for my tv and I use them all. Put it on PlayStation or Xbox. We have the option of just using a raspberry pi and installing every single game on genesis, but we don’t wanna break the law.

I never got to play Sega games until Sonic Adventure 2 on the GameCube, so adding the Genesis mini 1 and 2 to my collection will be great! Though, truthfully, the mini 1 had more games that appeal to me. This one having like... what, 7, 8, maybe even 9 or 10 or more games where some major element of it is shooting, appeals the least to me, though some, like Ranger-X, do look interesting. I see more appeal in the RPGs, platformers, and, to a lesser extent, the racing games. Arcade ports and shooters just have never been my thing, but I do recognize that a big part of the appeal of the Genesis originally was that it could do faithful ports of arcade games, so at the same time, I don't really fault the Genesis library for being what it is

Ninja Warriors was an arcade game. Lucky Leos, Seaside had one. It was a wide cabinet with a "triple" wide display. Never beat it as it glitched out and I kept walking to the right with nothing to fight.

Sonic 3D blast is underrated, and although not quite as good as the saturn version, the genesis port is a pretty impressive game actually.

7:31 Working Designs would bring back the Langrisser series to the West with its PS2 & PSP iterations & keep the original name, a la what happened to Dragon Quest when 8 released on the PS2. I didn’t know this was the first Langrisser game in the US. Thanks Ian.

What about Mutant League sports games? That would work in regards to the NHL/PA licenses, although Ive heard that ML Hockey isnt that great for some reason. Lunar 1+2 and Popful Mail would be great additions.

I know everyone has their preferences, but to call SFII Special Champion Edition "ass" is just dumb. The voice samples may be a bit harsh and doesn't look quite as good as the SNES versions, but it plays just as well as any of the other 16-bit versions and I actually prefer the music renditions compared to any other 16-bit version.

Wow, didn't know the C64 game Suicide Express was actually a rip-off of Super Locomotive.

Would have loved Earthworm Jim (sega cd version) and Terminator (sega CD), but of course licensing and having already had the original version of earthworm on the first mini would have made them a hard sell. Still, pretty cool otherwise.

Luckily these systems eventually get hacked and will release a tool to add all the roms you want. I REALLY need a saturn mini. That would be killer.

Give me the Dreamcast mini that comes with Dreamcast, Genesis, SEGA CD and Saturn games preloaded on the system.

SF2 Special Champion isn’t ass at all, to the point where there’s debate as to whether the SNES Turbo version is better or not. New Challengers, on the other hand, has a lot of issues.

If you consider all the regions from the first mini, there’s some repeat titles. Plus I think the Japanese list had more cd titles.

Since Victor Ireland is taking a lot of hits and blame I thought I'd pass along this. I've seen several people say something similar but this also gives credit to Joe from Game Sack who is someone I think we should trust. "Joe from Game Sack talked to Vic Ireland (former Working Designs) a month ago when MD Mini 2 announced. He said that They likely offered him a tiny amount for the audio on those games. For the Lunars, Game Arts or Sega could have easily just subtitled the speaking parts in English since Game Arts owns the rights to the English translation. So it's not Vic's fault the Lunars didn't get released. Popful Mail has a lot more audio so they'd never go through and translate all of that themselves."
