andyduke82 Her family had multiple jobs. Her dad was her manager and body guard. He can be seen in a few videos literally behind his daughter while she mingles with fans making sure she’s safe. Mom helped her style her costumes when Selena was too busy to do it & was part of the stage crew helping set up the band. Her brother was her bassist, music producer & lyricist. Her sister was her drummer, promoter & merchandise maker. So it’s really kinda messed up that people accuse the family of being opportunist and money greedy making money off of their dead daughter/sister. Literally they created the Selena brand and ran it themselves. Selena didn’t even run it.. she became a singer to provide for her family. She was proud of that fact & left it in her contracts that her family get 50% for their hard work & her 50% if she were to pass away. She trusted them and loved them. That’s unheard of when it’s a family of entertainers. Usually there’s always legal fights of who gets what and who. Like Michael Jackson for example that’s a true example of a money hungry divided family.. his estate is all over the place & they’re going against the man wishes most of the time.

He would literally sit there with a belt in his lap while the kids were singing and if they messed up they were going to get hit. Michael, especially. No wonder he was so messed up. You could just tell that Selena had a good upbringing. Such a tragic ending for such a sweet, kind humble human being. Shot in the back by someone she considered family.

Jamel_AKA_Jamal At the same time tho, we understood Spanish so well that we’d know if the wording was wrong. 88 miles south of Corpus & the same generation, I think most of us had (& some of us still have) trouble conjugating verbs.🤷🏻‍♀️

Hell yeah lol she learned Spanish trough singing it. She is a 2nd generation texan. She wouldnt have been the same artist if born in mexico. She has so many influences because she listened to everything from Garth Brooks, to donna summers and even 80s metal. She is more influenced by american music than mexican. She just sang the songs they wrote for her. It's crazy how AB wrote his music. It was a fusion of different kinds of music but still latin. That's the stuff that went world wide. She has some good Tejano songs that alot of people dont listen to but that's where she started. That's why I kinda got offended when they only had 2 tejano artist perform for her tribute concert on univision and they squeezed them both on at the same time. They were still better than any other artist that day. Tejano is so underated .

The Quality Of Life Conjugating verbs in Spanish was a true nemesis of mine when I had to take a Spanish Grammar class in college..I could speak & read in English but writing it was torture for me, lol
