you’re right that she didn’t know she was a star, when people she knew would tell her she was a big star she’d be like “what are you talking about? i’m not a star” lol she was so humble. she really didn’t know how special she was
@loscano4 жыл бұрын
Ya. She would just go to Wal Mart, Kmart..everywhere alone and unattended here in Corpus Christi to do her shopping like a regular homegirl..Wasn't worried about anything..Meanwhile, the call was coming from inside the house..😑

Can you imagine if there had been a Selena/Janet or Selena/Michael collab?? That would have been fire. ♥
@frankhdz3 жыл бұрын
That would have been awesome. It would have also been inevitable. In the spanish music circles everyone wanted to do music with her. The same would have happened in the english speaking market. She could sing any style as if she had been sining it for years. She was an incredible performer, her presence on stage was electric and you could feel her energy. Just think how high that star could have flown.
@summermcpherson82093 жыл бұрын
Oh yes it would! And we all know she did a cover of Air Supply's "Where Did the Feeling Go". I always thought she would've done a hell of a cover of Making Love Out of Nothing At All.

Selena's father said in an interview that she never got to realize how big of a star she was. She had been performing since she was a little girl that whether there were 3 People in the room or 68000 people she would give you the same performance. You are exactly right, she did not know how big of a start she was and was becoming evermore.

When Pete Astudillo was her backup singer! The one who wrote most of her hits, there dancing and singing next to her. They were both so young. It's so nostalgic to see them perform together. Please react to more videos of when Pete was part of the band so you can see how they would dance together. They made some duos too.

Melissa Villa ummmm there’s a difference in ..... the degree with which these two ‘used choreography.’ Based on what I do know about each woman.....Selena’s rose to stardom was gradual; while was still enigmatic. She was dancing and performing long before there would have been finances and resources to the degree that JLo has long had. I also think it’s interesting that vocally- Selena is incredibly powerful and technical- a SERIOUS set of pipes. While JLo has LONG been very weak vocally, has that very thin vocal that is absolutely no comparison to Selena’s thick voice and overall projection. JLo is a well trained dancer who can’t really sing, while Selena was quite capable and impressive at BOTH. I also think most- if not ALL today’s artists are pale in compared to Selena in ANY category. Beyoncé is overrated and into some dark arts or witchcraft she admittedly summons- While Selena has typically maintained a respectable reputation for being an actual great role model.

So when we lost her it really crushed the Hispanic community as well as those who were beginning to love her and know her! Now every race around the world knows her! She is was something special!!

First of all, thank you so much for considering my request of this video. I wanted people to know that she not only sang Spanish music but English music as well and not only during the time of her passing but from the earlier time of her career. Alot of people don't react to this video alot cause alot of people mainly only focus on her Houston Astrodome Concert where she wore the purple outfit cause it was her most known Concert on TV, but this clip here is one of my favorites so thank you for reacting to it. Also, I was 15 going on 16 when she was taken from this world and one of my biggest dreams was to meet her one day. Since I never got the chance to meet her, I turned that dream into trying to meet all members of her family. I'm thankful that I've gotten to meet her husband Chris Perez in 2015 and her Sister Suzette (the drummer of her band) just this past March. If you live in LA, you should go see her Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, I've gone to see her Wax Figure and she's so beautiful seeing it in person. Not to mention her Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There are 2 other videos that I hope you consider reacting to which are songs you've already heard before but there's more dancing involved which is what I love to watch her do. She Dances and sings like no other. Como la Flor and La Carcacha in 2 different concerts. I'll look for the links and I'll post them to you on a future reaction clip that you do. Thanks again. 😊

Selena could definitely put a moving in her bones.She was a natural, versatile dancer.Personally, I love her Spanish songs the most.Even tho I don't know a lick of Spanish lol.I feel like she displayed a different kind of elegance during her Spanish performances.I love when she performed La Carcacha.The footwork(In the heels), spins, energy, etc etc...So full of joy & grace.

Totally, as someone on another thread put it; JLo is living Selena's life but only a small portion of it because Selena would have gone much further than her. Selena is one of the greats like Elvis, Jimmy Hendrix, Jannis Joplin, Patsy Cline you get the picture. An entertainer like no other like those aforementioned artists, and there will never be another Selena.
