So what makes the Pathfinder Nylon Tarp a Great Value!? Size, Shape, Versatility! A quality tarp is a must-have on camping trips and backpacking adventures. The Pathfinder Nylon Tarp has all the essential features you'd expect in a dependable waterproof camping tarp.
It comes with 19 tie-outs, providing the means to create a water-repellent shelter that will keep you protected from the elements while lying on your ground cover or a hammock.
At 7'8" x 7'8", it's spacious enough to provide shelter for you and all your gear. This tent tarp is heavy-duty and durable but still compact and lightweight, so you can count on carrying an easy-to-set-up cover from wind, rain, and sun without weighing you down.

I love the Luciano tarp configuration. So does the cat, loves Luciano too. I love seeing the cat. Dave said those stakes may not work for hard ground, but actually those stakes work really well (better than titanium and many other types of stakes I have used in the hard packed, rock-laden, sandy-gravely ground we have here. I have tried so many different types of stakes, trying to find some that work decently.These stakes go in to the full length and I haven't bent one yet, I've bent many other stakes though. These are my favorites. So much so that I bought a bunch more similar (from another vendor since SRO doesn't sell them separately).

I feel that the pre-made ridge line should be used for emergencies and if time is not an issue you should carry an extra piece of cordage with no knots so you can tie them on site so you get practice tying the needed knots. Tying knots is a skill you could have trouble with when you need it most.

Yeah back in the day i taught myself how to tie a bunch of knots (at home) for the woods. But I'd go blank once i was actually out there needing to apply them

Excellent video Dave! Really like the Luciano configuration. I've been wanting one of those tarps for some time now. Guess I'll just have to break down and pull the trigger on one.(Update: I just noticed that SRO is running a special on this tarp and the Pathfinder Hammock as a combo for US$69.99. Yeah, I jumped on one of those combo specials and ordered it. Two birds, one stone.) Thanks for the video Dave, and for sharing your thoughts, ideas and experience with us.

That triangle shelter with a 12x12 would be very comfortable in rough weather. The 8x8 looks a little cramped but dry and warm. I'm in Florida so it's almost always warm but the weather gets bad without warning. Thank you 👍 I'll be setting up that triangle tent this weekend.

@@lydiajohnston4954 I have one of each weight of the Aquaquests, two 10 x 13 and 10 x 10 Defender. Definitely bombproof but twice the weight. The Pathfinder is too small for me but no doubt is a quality product. I have a lot of their gear, all well made and designed.

Take some paracord where ever u go. When u have a few mins of spare time, practice some knots. That’s what I do and it helps a lot to remember and absorb
@motrock93b
@motrock93b 10 ай бұрын
I hear you! That's why I started carrying a 5 foot piece of paracord in my pocket to randomly practice a few essential knots. it's worked well, and I also now always have a way to hang my backpack/camelbak/jacket or whatever just by looping the cord around any tree/object and using any little toggle (stick) or other object (pocket knife, pencil, ?) as the "hook" by using a marlinspike loop. It takes up almost zero space in my pocket and has proven very useful. No more wet/muddy camelbak.
