Here's a must-have video that will guide you through building a pneumatic stand for your manual shrinker stretcher set. The pneumatic cylinder takes the effort out of using a shrinker stretcher and the pressure regulator ensures that every bite of the shrinker and stretcher is consistent for even gradual bends. The overall size of this unit takes up an even smaller footprint than a manual hand-operated unit and a MUCH smaller footprint than a foot-operated machine.
Be sure to stay to the end of the video for a blueprint for the build so you can build your own.

Just built mine and had to use a Tailon sc50-100 cylinder as the one you used seems to no longer be available. Mine uses a 4 inch stroke, which seems.more than enough. Requires a cooresponding pivot that screws onto the base and the yoke is bigger than the one in the video.

@GarageFab

Thank you, Brother! I’ve got a confession to make. A couple actually. One: The truck in the intro is only a digital rendering of my next project. It’ll be a complete rebuild of a truck I built years ago that was destroyed in a hit and run. You can see what it once looked like, TPI and all, in the first serious KZfaq video I made. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7-gg6l0s7POeWg.html Two: I recently changed plans and the TPI won’t be coming back. I’m excited to reveal the new plans soon. The TPI might be going into an old 30s Chevy truck if I can get my old boss to sell it to me. We’ll see how that one goes.

So I just wanted to let you know I took this idea and ran with it. I have two separate air cylinders controlled by electric air solenoids into separate pedals. I'm extremely pleased with the results. And with the adjustable PSI in the way I built mine I have adjustable heim joints much like a tie rod. I built it in such a manner because the cylinders I had already were limited travel about 7in to be exact. So you could either screw-in or screw out the tie rod the adjust for thicker metal and I'm extremely pleased with the results. 👌 Thanks again for the inspiration. 🤟

So far so good my man! I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had a few folks say that you wouldn’t be able to ‘feel’ the workpiece and make fine adjustments on the fly. I don’t know what they’re feeling. Maybe I’m numb, but I can’t feel the metal moving with a manual shrinker/stretcher. The consistent pressure with every application of the pneumatic system has made it incredibly easy to make perfect uniform curves!

Word. It’s for the better. I made a few really good friends in the club that I still see and when we get together we talk about… trucks. It’s a win. Not to mention I met my soul mate while at a club party. No complaints. I still occasionally ponder creating another club that revolves around all the awesome that I once experienced. Like going to a buddies garage to hang, drink a beer and help get his truck ready for the next show. Maybe this channel will bring like minded folks together. 🤔

@@GarageFab, The mac guy usually only stops at the shop I work at every once and a while. I got some drill bits from him too and they’ve been pretty good so far. I wonder if you could warranty the bit online on their website.

I would love to see the layout of your shop. I also build cars and motorcycles from my home. Shop space just cost to much right now. I'm always looking for new space saving ideas. BTW no idea why this is under my wife's name. Lol. Tim, Liquid Cycle Designs

I feel you! I’d love to expand as well. One day! I imagine we’re getting close to needing to do a shop tour. There’s some things I need to organize and I want to include that in a video, but I suppose I should include what it looks like this very moment since that’s what it has looked like since the beginning. Shrug. Maybe I’ll do a before and after video. 🤔 Maybe at 50k?

I thought you where going to use a "Watts-Link" design to pull both shrinker and stretcher arms at the same time. That'd be cool and highly over complicated lol. Of course you'd have to clock/offset the two tools slightly to allow the two pull down arms to pass each other or add more separation front to back. The Watts-Link center would be connected to the cylinder shaft and a link that would go each tool. The Watts-Link's "parallel" links would hold the "propeller" and cylinder shaft from favoring and swinging toward the tool currently under load. A side benefit is the air line slots wouldn't be needed either. In the end, life is short and time is precious, so your way is better. It would be cool though.

It absolutely would be cool! And unnecessarily complicated is my signature! If it’s not complex it’s not interesting. Who cares about practicality!

Found your channel a couple of days ago. Got my sub. I’m going to have to build something similar. But I have a small English wheel, small pneumatic hammer, and some princess auto shrinker and stretcher that also need the cases made. I’m going to want them all on the same stand. Later want to build a bead roller for it. Use the pneumatic to spin the roller. Ive got big dreams. Lol
