Sena 50S Intercom Battery Replacement

If I would have to name one thing which I take with me all the time when I go for a ride, my Sena would be one of them. It's that element which enables me to connect with other, to emerge in to the ride regardless of my mood, sad or happy, I can listen to my favorite music and so on!
So after few years, my first Sena 50S battery has started to run low on energy even if it looks that is is charged. Charging time is really fast and it's actually not charging for real and even so, after a "full charge" when I plug it on, I start it and the second it connects to the phone, the low battery message will pop!
Since I was unable to find a proper tutorial on how to replace the battery I've decided to make one, ENJOY!

I contacted the after-sales service which remained ineffective in the face of a simple battery failure. A few euros for amazon with the help of this excellent tutorial. THANKS.

Thanks for this! Using a heater to remove the connector on the bottom is the way to go. Looking at the connector with the diagonal bit in the lower left corner, the plastic on top can be moved a bit. That is where I could carefully wedge a plastic hook-thingy meant to small repairs to remove it. As far as I could see there is only some adhesive on the left and right sides of the connector.

Sir, what a great video. What can I say. My 50S battery became faulty only months out of its warranty period. Some days it will work all day other days it will work only for an hour or 2. I've got into the habit of connecting a battery pack to it and putting the battery pack in my jacket. Now I'm going to give changing the battery a try. Again many many thanks and a BIG thumbs up.

@@StefaManuMoto Gi day froma raining Sydney Australia Saturday. I just replaced the sena 50S battery following your instructions to the letter and it works like a charm. At first power up it showed 80% battery. The battery I bought on eBay is a higher mAh rating than the OEM one. It has saved me binning the 50S so I can get a couple of more years out of it. The battery I bought on eBay is a higher mAh rating than the OEM one. As I said a great video and again many thanks. Cheers Kym

I am so glad to see this. I have no clue why Sena is not selling genuine batteries for this. It would have been another way of creating revenue for them and a way of saving units for us. It’s not like anyone had the skill to do it at home so for them as a company would have been a win win situation.

@@StefaManuMoto I agree with you 100%... But I cannot understand Sena Company.... They seems, they have not follow to creating revenue as additional , they thinking sell new models to old users ((( And I still fighting with them; about 30K's their wrong software..

@@BahaBuran ahh software wise they are rubbish!:( I really like the mesh, the “hi google”, “hi siri” integration and the reliability but I feel like they are so behind in comparison with Cardo for example. :(

omg thank you bro, mine have a problem with the power button that dont work. i just cant figure out how to take out the motherboard but your vid using the dryer helps!! I just use a lighter btw and it came off easily. Clean it up using contact cleaner and now its working again, i almost thinking of throwing it away, thank you so much. 👍👍👍👍

Waaaa, so glad that it was helpful for you and it saved your Sena. Keep in mind to properly align the white rubber gasket that prevents the water and also when you screw back the screws be careful when tighten them not to break the plastic brackets.

No need to remove the Jog-wheel, the sides open and reassemble fine without removing it!

Literally my 50s after owning it for a year… 20s is still going strong can sit over the winter and retain the charge.

Well now you have a solution for the 50s too. 😁 It’s a nice product to throw it away only because the battery is dead.

Thank you! The battery? I am not sure, haven’t done any research on the 50r, but what you can do is to see if the 50r’s battery has the same specs as 50s. If they are the same most probably they share the same size. You can ping my on instagram @stefmanu for more questions if you need.

Maybe you can help me. My 50s worked perfect last week. Charged it after a ride overnight. The light turned off and now it wont turn on at all and when i plug it in there is no light

Wow, so little waterproofing. Could have applied lacquer to the motherboard, used magnets on the jogwheel instead.

Mye…..Sena starts to be a disappointment. An expensive unit with no water proofing, poor battery life and quite big in comparison with other units on the market. I really like the sound quality, the integration with Siri and Android, easy way of interacting with commands but all of this is useless if you lose them after a ride in the rain or after a year of use because the battery life is dead…..

I have no clue but I would expect to be totally different since 50C has a different layout and setup. I would asume that because it has the camera, it should have a bigger battery. You need to tare it down and see what is inside of it.

I have a problem with the Sina 50 headphone. It works for 5 minutes or less and then suddenly turns off. What should I do? The battery has been replaced and the problem is not resolved?

Well I would asume that there is a connection issue inside the unit or the connection between the unit and the dock on the helmet. Was it doing the same before you changed the battery?

@@StefaManuMoto It works and everything is fine. After a few minutes, it turns itself off. I turn it back on and it works for a few minutes and then turns off
