The sad news is we are going to have to fight all over again. The fund is no longer just for rescue and recovery workers and people that lived and worked in the immediate area. It was opened up to everyone below Canal Street in 2001. But if you lived on the North side of Canal Street: Tough Luck! I assume there must have been an invisible barrier down the middle of Canal Street preventing deadly wind born toxins crossing from the South side to the North. This is the kind of insane sh*t that has been going on for 21 years. Congress is a 🤡 circus.

And instead of helping the people who where so brave to respond are left in the cold by the same people who made there career out if a tragedy. @JD-od6jh4 жыл бұрын
I'm very sorry for your loss, your father was a true hero. And I feel incredibly sad that a system as Jon mentioned, contimued to use the politcal stance of "never forget..' actually 'forgot' to do something about these horrible conditions. I'm not even American, so ofcourse 9/11 wasn't as impactful to me as it was to you guys. But it's still unspeakable, un-fucking-thinkable that thos is the way true heroes were treated. The two major things i've been thaught here in Holland are that we should never ever forget WWII, and 9/11. And it's heartbreaking to think there are people like me who seem to care more about the health of those people as some of congress seemed to. I'm extremely happy to hear this bill has passed because it's the bare minimum after 18 years. Sorry for the ramble but this is something that just really gets to me. Again, your father was a true hero for his country. Risking his life to save those who were unable to help themselfs. And those should never, ever be forgotten not to mention discarded. God bless you and your family.

I moved to NYC a few years after 9/11 and I'm not surprised how the first responders there sacrificed themselves for the people . for a city that gets ripped for being too gruff, or individualized...just nope. Good people all proud to live there, be free, and still help each other. I live elsewhere now and I miss the city every day. Such a special place with special people. God bless your fathers and all the heroes that day and every day. SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT. There is always money to support veterans/first responders. Always. Maybe the defense contractors who profited off the war in Iraq could cough up some of their billions for these guys? 9/11 was the impetus for the war, right? So these guys made money off 9/11 technically.

@@Pinkielover - The entire world watched, including the people who are enemies of our country, including the people who perpetrated this attack. Watching an attack does not make you a hero. Simply being alive on the day of 9-11 does not make you a hero. No offense, lots of people did heroic things on that day, and I am sure that it is those smaller acts of heroism that you are trying to also shine a light on. If I am right in my guess, I applaud your intentions. But being a hero requires, at a minimum, SOME form of positive action. Merely watching and existing is not heroic, nor should the people who simply existed on that day get credit for 'heroism'. It devalues the self sacrificing actions of the real heroes of that day.

According to the program's director, FDNY chief medical officer Dr. David Prezant, the department withheld half a million dollars annually in 2016 and 2017, with the sum rising to $630,000 in 2018 and 2019. Some $1.447 million were withheld by the Treasury Department through late August, the reported, citing Prezant. "This is the most amazing thing.
