SensoCOMFORT User Guide Part 1

A basic guide around the control and features of the system, in this guide we cover the basic user menu.
This guide is designed for systems using the SensoCOMFORT as the main thermostat, meaning that you have no other thermostats in your house to control your heating.
**********************************************************************************************If you have 3rd party room thermostats such as; Heatmiser, Hive, Nest etc. adjusting the desired room temperature, will no adjust the room temperature instead it will adjust the heating flow to the system based off the heat curve. For example, adjusting the 'desired heating temperature' by half a degree will adjust the flow temperature by 1c. I will produce another video explaining this later on.
*adjusting the system without fully understanding it may cause adverse effects such as increased running costs or damage to the system. If in doubt always refer to the user manual or seek expert advise.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, i have to fit one of these along with the sensonet gateway next week. I fit a lot of vaillant boilers but do find getting product information about the controls and installation instructions/wiring diagrams etc a bit of a grey area. I have two heating zones and a hot water tank so i am hoping this control is the correct one for the homeowners. Thanks again.

Hello mate very good guide indeed. Just a few questions, I have just had this installed in my house today. I have a gateway and a senso unit connected to the boiler and I have downloaded the app. When l come to the point where l choose WLAN or Lan, I choose WLan and the next it says to turn off the boiler, I hope l don't lose the settings it's already on,in the system.? Getting back to the wall unit, When you showed you can change temperature and then ok it with the tick button, Mine shows up 3 hours, like some sort of time schedule, so I don't have a clue what's going on there. So can not change the temperature and ok it with tick button. The guy that installed it today,was his first time by the way. Also, another query, When you can change the water tank to heat up at certain times, Can you explain this, l just took it for granted that the water tank just stays on The desired temp setting in my case 55degrees. and just stays hot so there is always hot water, l don't understand the reason for setting the tank temp to different times. What l can tell you though, there is 4 to 5 people showering between 6-7am in the morning and for only a 190l tank it does not seem to fun out of hot water ,which is pretty amazing. but could this be a time that l should command more hot water, even though it seems to be coping. Hope you understand me thanks.

When you get to the point where 3 hours is displayed, you can alter this time by pressing the column of dots on the right of the display to increase or decrease the time for which you want the new temperature to take effect. At the end of this time period you have set, the system will just revert to the original setting. I have an aroTHERM + 7kW pump with a 200l uniSTOR cylinder and originally had the same manual set up as you describe. I have the Octopus GO tariff which gives me 4 hours off-peak electricity at 9p/kWh (30.25p/kWh daytime). There are two of us in the house and the hot water is only used for 1 morning shower and 1 evening showing. There is still ample hot water for the evening shower so all my hot water needs are met at the lower rate by using the timer. Having said that, you have more people using the shower so you will have to experiment to see if you have enough hot water to meet your needs?

You shouldn’t loose any settings once it’s been switched off, then on. Imagine the frustration with power cuts. It’s showing up with a select amount of hours to adjust to because it is set to time controlled, as in a schedule. To change go to control, zone 1, mode = manual To set time programs for the hot water, go to; control, DHW, mode = time control. A new menu will appears when you exit that page called DHW weekly planner, enter this and set as desired

Ok, thanks but is rhis just really a way to not have tank producing hot water all the time, so like for saving energy. I have 7 people in my family and l guess needs the demand to be on all the time. Yes l could turn off from 2 am to 530 am. But what the point. What would you do leave it as is.

The best thing to do is experiment with it, if you know all your hot water usage patterns then it makes it a bit easier. Bearing in mind you’ll have a hot water charging time (time for cylinder to head up) will depend on a few factors, such as cylinder size, current hot water temperature, required temperature etc. if you all use hot water in the evenings only then yes it makes sense to just heat up before you need it, if it’s more sporadic then maybe leaving on constantly might work better.

Los of settings on switching on/off. Can you confirm that this controller will retain settings in event of mains powere failure to boiler? Older barttery powered Vaillant controllers (VRT 350) lost settings when boiler power lost even though battery remained active - very poor design and my principal objection to a Vaillant controller.

A quick query if i may, do i need an additional wiring centre to fit the sensonet and sensocomfort? I have been through the Vaillant werbsite but ended up even more confused. I have x2 heating zones and 1x hot water cylinder. Any info would be much appreciated. thanks

To fit just the SensoNET and sensoCOMFORT, no, on a heat pump they wire into the HP module (VWZ-Ai) If you are fitting 2 SensoCOMFORT’s (one for each zone) then a VR71 wiring centre would be required. Hope this helps

@@i85_Heat_Pumps Many thanks for getting back to me. I have hot water/radiators/ and a towel rail circuit, all separate zone valves. So I'm guessing I need some kind of an additional thermostat to control the towel rails? This would be difficult as it's three rails with trv's in three separate bathrooms so not sure how I would overcome this. Many thanks for your help 👍

Hello. Can you tell me which variant of the vrc720 this is as each of 3 (or 6 if you include the /f) has different nuances and menu items. Thanks.

Unfortunately I am unable too as this is just a simulation and cannot get that information. I’d assume it’s one of the earlier versions If I come across another will the same layout, I’ll let you know.

How do you set a time period? It says 'Scroll all the way through', but what do you press to scroll? Can you scroll backwards as well as forwards? How do you set dates for absence?

Either enter the heating or hot water menu, depending on which one you want to set a time period on, select “mode” and make sure it’s on time control to set a time periods, manual being “on constant” and “off” being off. Use the bar on the right hand side, + symbol up and small dot at the bottom, down. Enter absence mode and select the dates you require

one thing l was disappointed with this wall unit. I expected it to be powered by the mains and would love to have the display on permanently. Stupid to be only powered by batteries and always turned off. Takes the joy of using it away,me thinks.

You are able to get a SensoCOMFORT that is hard wired, the batteries in the wireless display will last a few years believe it or not
