Serena got this game like nobodyelse of the ladies. She has no boundaries, knows the way of the ball, and plays so smart (if she wants).

Steffi has a 89.25 winning percentage, Serena only 84.91. Steffi was 8 times #1 at year end, Serena only 5 times. Steffi was 377 weeks #1, Serena only 319. Steffi won each slam at least 4 times, Serena only 3 times. Steffi won at least 6 slams on every surface (clay, grass, hard court), Serena only 3. Steffi won FO, Wimbledon, USO in the same year a record 4 times. Serena only once. Steffi has no losing record against any major player, Serena is 3-4 against Sanchez, 1-3 against Osaka. Steffi has the best win/loss record in slams in the open era. Steffi beat 3 different top 10 ATGs (Evert, Navratilova, Seles) in 8 slam finals, Serena zero. Steffi has played in multiple all-time great slam finals (Wim 88, FO 92, USO 95, FO 96, FO 99 etc.), Serena not even in one. Serena is not even the greatest US player ever.

I think it's true that Serena has exceptional ball control and a really amazing backhand but can we just take a moment to appreciate her opponents too? I mean some of those moves were incredible even if they lost the point in the end because the shot was too far away.

Gosh I need her to be geared up with the backhand in 2021 French open. Players with deadly backhands are the toughest because forehands are usually deadly. If both are working she should get far.

I am *actually* Serena’s biggest fan but that backhand at 4:02 was WAY out, this tourney had no Hawkeye and some of the most atrocious line calls, all going against Venus in this match. Pity. I honestly found it kinda weak that Serena celebrated the BH winner before it even landed (it was multiple inches out)
