In this video I review the Janome 1100D Professional serger. I do not show you how to thread this machine because it's really easy, straight forward and the machine comes with a great step-by-step DVD with close-up shots of the threading. Instead I share with you how it works, the displays, how to select and choose stitches and set it up, the options it allows and of course my favorite parts of what it can do. Look forward to more video tutorials featuring the Janome 1100D Professional serger coming soon.
If you are interested in purchasing a Janome 1100D serger click here to find your nearest Janome dealer: www.janome.com/en/find-a-dealer/
Disclaimer: Janome let me borrow this machine and I will have the option to purchase it if I want... and I think I will. I have two other sergers but I am very happy with this one and the flexibility it allows me. I also love the speed of it! Some other home sergers stitch too slow for me even when on the fastest speed setting.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you. I have been sewing since I was eight years old and my sewing machines and serger were stolen so I am considering the above model, and I want to thank you for teaching straight to the point. No delayed talking so that the person can be focused on the stitching and what machine can do. Excellent on camera teaching presentation! Again, thank you. R.Heddinger; Friday, March 27, 2020.

Hey crafty, I was almost positive you have a video on threading your old serger, but I can't find it. I need to see it again. As usual, it was very detailed and easy to follow, thx

that was great video. Makes me want to get one. I like that it's quiet and that you can go to different weights of fabric without having to change tension, those tensions can be a beast

Wonderful demo and reviews of machines - which machine would you say gives the better finish and is the smoothest/quietest - this Janome or the Juki Mo1000 air threader?

I'm really trying to find out what all this machine can do. I love the enthusiasm of the crafty gemini, but was looking for some real information and demonstrations of different feet, stitches etc. Any basic 4 threading machine from Janome (such as my 634D) stitches like this--let's get an in depth, real look at it!! Also, pros and cons would be great.

Nice review. Does this machine require a hardware change to do a rolled hem (like for napkins and tablecloths)? My older serger requires enough of a changeover that I never want to go through all the trouble to change it, and change back, so I just never use that feature. Hoping it is simpler. Thanks

Hello, we are at the beginning of 2016. Did you get the Janome 1100d finally? If so, would you still consider that is a good buy to do? If you had a choice between a Janome 634D and the 1100D what would be your choice? Thank you!

Throughout the video there was no mention of threading the machine, is threading difficult ? This could be a deciding factor. The stitch quality is beautiful on this machine. Thanks for the review.

Young lady thank you very much for all that info. I have been thinking about buying a new Serger. What is your opinion on the sergers that have more then 5 thread cones? Also I am looking forward on your new sewing project. Also is there a way you could turn the volume up a little on your side. I have the vol. up on my side and it seems like I can hardly hear you. And this is a new lap top & the guys have checked out L.T. to make sure it's run fine. Have a nice weekend.

I have sewn professionally for over 20 years. I just got this machine two weeks ago( I swear by Janome, yes I've owned a Bernina and sold it preferring my much less expensive Janome.) So Just a couple of quirky things on this Janome 1100d that I have not noticed on my others.634ds - The right needle will unthread its self consistently in the basic 4 thread stitch -Tip 1 to prevent: Pull your upper and lower looper under the presser foot notch to the very left of the foot. Leave them very long and running well off the back of the machine -After threading your upper needles L and R. Use the clip to the very right to pull them out of the way separate from the lower looper and upper looper threads.Then run the machine to get them to chain up and leave a 6 to 10" off the back of the machine before you sew on fabric. Bizzare right? I've never had a janome where this was an issue but on this machine, I cannot just pull them through the right notch on the presser foot all together thread them all together. -Tip 2 Leave the chain stich threads long.

The video is great except for one thing. I've been using a regular sewing machine for 40 years (not the same one). What is the advantage to a serger? Can I use a serger for regular sewing as well? Do you have a video that shows the differences between a regular sewing machine, a serger and any others that we might use? I want to get in to using stretchy fabrics, and I've been learning quilting (your videos are great) and have even joined a Quilters Guild. Thanks for your help in this.

Great review! Question: If using the 4 thread function is it necessary to stitch a seam with your regular sewing machine? For example, if I'm joining a shoulder seam should I serge the two pieces separately using the serger then sew a regular seam to stitch the two together? Or, can I simply join the two pieces by running them through the serger together and skip the regular sewing machine all together?
@TheCraftyGemini
@TheCraftyGemini 9 жыл бұрын
LAX0X0 You can use the 4 thread stitch to sew the pieces together AND finish the edge. So if you can line up your seam allowance correctly you should be fine. :)

So what is the price range for this particular brand/model? There are NO prices shown anywhere on line, & calling around locally, the dealers refuse to discuss anything over the phone. One MUST [even those of us who are disabled] come into the store in person just to ask about the machine. Once there, there are NO prices posted anywhere. They size the customer up visually then "quote" you a price based on what they feel you should pay that day, based on their visual appraisal of the customer. NO WAY TO RUN AN INDUSTRY!!!
