Nice collection of videos and well edited. Your skills are good too. I'm still positive that no one would have left a large orange bulls eye target on the side of their tank but call it a creative touch. I'm positive because I have a Very old man sitting on the couch behind me yelling at the screen about how wrong it is. He'll get over it. Other than that it looks awesome. Even though the camouflage wasn't right on the commander, it was still one of the better painted crew members I've seen. Most others put all the detail into the tank and then rush the crew so they can finish. Yours looks great. Impressive. I look forward to checking out your other videos. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely job in the main- but, and they always get this wrong. Tracks are not rusty when in service. Reasonably bright on the outside where they dig into the ground and are polished. . Bright bright silver where the roadwheels run on the inner surface. (Unless brand new) Sprocket and idlers- teeth and rims are bright silver, as are the holes where the sprocket drive teeth engage. Polished by the road wheels, so they don't rust much in barracks either.

Dear Sergio, it seems so easy watching you doing this, but as a modeller myself (I'm not so young but a beginner in this hobby) I must confess I'm really impressed by your work. I've learned a lot watching your 3 videos. My last model was a Panzer iV (Tamiya, as nearly each time) and I wasn't so happy with the results. But I've now ordered the same Stug IV you did here (being a very old model it's rather cheap) to try to build it and follow in your steps! A challenge, really... It won't be easy as, so far, I do not have an airbrush - I'm afraid of the thing... - and do only paint with the brush.The only point where you could do better seems to be with the figures, even if this very-very-very old Tamiya figure is definitely not an Alpine figure (the best figures there are, and even if they are a little pricy, they're splendid). I think that a well painted beautiful figure illuminates a model and makes it live. By the way, your camo is totally wrong ;-) There were different models, but I've never seen yours :-) Thanks again for your work and especially for your good humour. It's not only very interesting to watch you, but it is very funny as well.Kind regards from Belgium (but if I could, I would live in Alcudia, Mallorca !) Michel
@SergioSolo
@SergioSolo 7 жыл бұрын
+Michel Leclercq Hi, Michel! Thank you for your comments 😊 I'm glad you found my videos useful. About the figure, yeah, I had like one hour to paint it to be able to include it in the video. I wish I had more time to research the camo pattern (and apply it) but well, still lots to learn! I need to get one of those Alpine figures you suggest. It's a very interesting part of the hobby I still have to master 🤓 Kind regards from Colombia! 🇨🇴

@SergioSolo
@SergioSolo 6 жыл бұрын

Has creado un envejecido increible. Vas a conseguir que empiece otra vez con el modelismo de plástico casi cuarenta años más tarde. No sé cuántas veces habré visto tus videos. Se aprende muchísimo de ti. Una pregunat: al principio del video comienzas dando trementina y a continuación óleos. ¿Se supone que has aplicado un barniz protector previamente o lo haces directamente sobre los acrílicos?
@SergioSolo
@SergioSolo 7 жыл бұрын
¡Muchas gracias! La trementina no afecta el acrílico, así que no hay necesidad de aplicar barniz primero. Te recomiendo que hagas pruebas con los productos que uses por si acaso. Por cierto, ¡bienvenido de vuelta a este maravilloso hobby! :)

Quick questions, I am following this quite heavily and I am at the stage of weathering with oils. Do I need to seal the paint job with a varnish before I start covering it turpentine? Great video, keep up the good work!

I copy that it is very funny videos you create. However you seems to had forgotten to remove the squared small holes in the side hull created by Tamiya only to hold their internal baterysystem for the playtoy engine? Next you overdue to much the warnout symptoms. Even the Tiger I found in Berlin 1945 in Tiergarden there were an early production model was not warnout. Please remember most tanks only had a life of 3 - 4 months after arriving at the battlefront. Next it would be almost impossible to find so warned out tracks as you have on this tanks. They had to be greased frequently preventing rust. Actual it was common with 10 hours of maintenance for a Tiger I after just one hours of figthing. Most tanks was had a big staff of maintenance people to give service every day of their live.

I love to give compliments where due, but the over use of weathering doesn't answer questions, what area did this vehicle fight in, and how long was this vehicle used as Stugs didn't have a long life span after 1944. Everyone will give praise because they like art, but tanks tracks didn't rust like that just look at construction vehicles. also where is the overall dust effect? As for tracks only the surface that makes contact with the ground is shiny. again, this is not to bash your work it is marvelous, I don't like the trend to over weather vehicles that don't compare to the ones that are found under water or in a ditch 30 years later. I only say as modelers do the research you'll find a lot of great info from wartime photos not one that have sat for years. German paint didn't wear as badly as you paint it. About that figure is he SS or Wehrmacht? The camo is throwing me off? Enjoy your craft it is all about your expression.

Well said. Modellers tend to copy other models rather than look at actual photos, so we end up with tanks covered in carefully applied scratches, chips, exposed metal and rust, whereas the real things are usually just covered in dust, dirt and mud depending on the terrain. But mainly dust. Only problem is that it gives a uniform effect which would look quite boring on a model, so modellers tend to opt for the exaggerated 'artistic' look. Very nice in a way, but so far removed from the real thing. But if you enjoy it, that's all that matters.. And nice model Sergio!

Why do modelers assume that a beat up tank looks realistic? None of tanks dredged up show any of the effects you guys keep using to show an active vehicle. Over use of rust on tracks they would only be the color of the terrain, not rusted the vehicle should be heavily dusted. I can't praise this look as it is false.
