Service Dogs go to Zoo

2 жыл бұрынThis was Dallases very first trip to a zoo! Thought I would film it to share with everyone. You can see that Dallas is not perfect in this video, and that it okay (I want to share those moments so you can see that it’s normal for a service dog to make mistakes and get distracted). There were lots of new smells and strange animals. She did an amazing job for it being her first time.
*Please do not bring your dog to a zoo if it is not a well trained service animal that preforms tasks. Many people have been bringing fake service dogs to the zoo, and amusment parks. This is not okay as it is way to overwhelming for an untrained, unsocialzed dog. An untrained overwhelmed dog is an unpredictable dog.

Love watching your videos!! Dallas and your friend's service dog really did so good. My SDiT and I are still training on public access with distractions and I can't really imagine going to the zoo yet. 😓 Mine loves to sniff but we're working on it. I find your videos very encouraging and it's good to know that we don't have to be perfect. Thank you!! ☺️

Circling is a behaviour usually done by dogs who are understimulated. So I'm sure she does this because she is now excited and can't wait to go out hence the pacing.

Thank you for posting your experience at the zoo! Makes me less anxious going to the zoo with my SDIT tomorrow for the first time seeing other people do it!

This was super fun to watch as always. Looks like Dallas and Calvin both did a really good job and had a nice time. I’d be super nervous if a lion staired me too. What breed is Calvin?

Must be a zoo thing. I have been to three different zoo’s and they all ask for the breed, but I have never got a bandanna. They always radio that there is a service dog on premises.

I live in Melbourne, Australia and my Assistance Dog is not allowed at the Melbourne Zoos.

@dallastheservicedoodle7236 even in America, Zoos aren't required to let dogs in, because they can cause severe distress to other animals
