Session's worst update ever. A friend of mine told me to check out Session's new update, and obviously I got excited when I heard there was an update! After not finding any new content, I went over to JL's channel to see if he had made a video on it, and sure enough he did. It turns out that this is Session's first update where they don't add anything, and they only removed content... What are your thoughts on this?

Blows cause a lot of people really liked that update but firmly agree with what he's saying make it a limited time deal where people know in advance that it'll be taken off at a later date. (me personally) never got the update cause it was during the time when I first found out session was doing away with making real cities and (to me) that was just a quick let's hurry up and make something to makeup for it feat in an attempt to win back fans. which was cool and all again I never got the update cause I enjoyed skating the real locations vs something made up and that's including the waterpark DLC. I never got any of those updates but know people enjoyed them and really liked skating them and feel it was unfair to them that they weren't notified of this till they decided to take it off but hey that's 💁🏽‍♂️just me! 🚶🏽‍♂️🚪

Yes it’s licensing, not all licensing deals are limited but it’s not uncommon. An example I can think of is when the Stranger Things license ran out for Dead by Daylight. They gave everyone the characters from the license, but weren’t allowed to keep the licensed map in the game

Yep, so you'd have to just not use the content or not use a whole ass feature of the game. Then some people(maybe it's just me and I'm insane) like deleting their save files and restarting over. Well I haven't played in awhile so I wanted to re do the story missions and go through from scratch again. Well I lost that whole map. It really puts me off. I love the game and will still play sporadically. But man this just feels bad. Even feel more bad for the people who never even got use the stuff.

In the past 1 and a half years since 1.0's release, they've changed object dropper controls, added paid dlc, and added/removed TMNT.

They also released a Switch version of the game. A Switch version that broke the side-pop controls for every other platform, but they did release a Switch port.

@@benjamincounter1285because that’s not how these businesses work. They have an objective list. They’re not going to drop everything to do what people demand. They have to keep money and productivity in mind. They have said they’re fixing stuff. It’s just not easy to fix. I feel like adding a skin pack is easier than fixing a bug. Just because an event ended doesn’t mean that’s where their focus is either.

It's been made clear they're focusing on porting the game to UE5. No point adding new features when they'd just need to remake them anyway.

I bought this game because you said it's more like an investment for the game to make it better. And it's only been worse. They updated it when I was almost done with the campaign and it restarted it all. And I had to start over.

Surely they could leave the map even if they had to take the suits out? Also, we're still waiting for cloud saves on PC, it's literally the most basic thing that even indie one-person dev games have. It's so lame.

I just discovered this game a few weeks ago and started playing. I saw the cosmetics right away when I started playing and bought some shirts. But I didn't know about the Sewer level and didn't unlock it, so sadly missed out on it. That being said, it makes sense why it was removed. But I would assume you can still use the content since you received it during the licensing. The licensing ending probably just means they can't continue to "promote" or provide that content for new players/players that didn't aquire the content during the licensing window. That would be my guess

I think people got too used to collab license back in the day that stayed forever because games weren't live service as they are now. Even with the tony hawk re-releases they no longer had licensing for a lot of old songs so they couldn't have them with a new product. Same with session. I'm actually happy that they allow you to keep the merch and map instead of just nuking them all together for everyone. That could've easily been the case with alot of dev's in the same position.

so, Payday 2 had a similar thing happen with their Scarface collab. the licence ran out and Starbreeze had to remove the ability to buy it. but anybody who bought the DLC still had access to the content from the DLC pack. Where I'm confused is, the session DLC for the turtles was a free update, whereas the Payday x Scarface thing was a paid DLC. i guess it's because TMNT would have taken a small profit of whatever money Creature made from sales of session due to having the turtles in the game, but now the licence is over, they would no longer make money. So, i guess it's the same thing of, if you accessed the content while it was available, you can keep it for the legal reasons, but new players won't have access to it as the licence is over and there's no money to be made anymore, and creature can no longer profit from the Turtles being in the game. I could be wrong, but that's my general understanding of how licencing in video games works.

To me this could be 1 of 2 things. 1.- Kinda like a "collectors" thing, special edition kinda stuff like devs do in other games. Or 2.- It's related to the 40th TNMT anniversary, and maybe the license became more expensive or perhaps exclusive to someone else.

Hopefully they can just remove the TMNT art and themes from the map and put it back up for people that haven’t had a chance to get it yet. But if the licensing covered the creation of the entire map as well they might be screwed. It’s a bummer, but in my eyes if it helped fund the transition to Unreal Engine 5 it was still worth it.

The thing is they need to be more transparent on what is limited and permanent in the game. They lack alot of communication. Also an issue is there is no cloud saving. You cant expect people always needing to backup their saves wich still is the risk of the save have an error. Shittier games have cloud saving and yet this not having it actually feels like an insult considering this is a simulator game that makes the campaign not actually short so unlocking everything again is a pain.

Your stance on negativity is so fresh. Saying it is one thing....but you're words are genuine & true to follow. Much respect to creature studios. It might sound over the top. But thanks to them I have an outlet to pour my creativity (which saves me of an evening) Those evenings add up to me still being here for my family, ❤ Haven't got much, but atleast I can skate.

It was obviously a promotion available between certain dates, and now it’s over. So if you took part in the promotion, you got your reward. Now it’s over. No different to anything time limited really, like a birthday skin or whatever.

@@GarrettGinnerGaming It was fairly obvious, being tied in with the new movie. TNMT was everywhere. It was just marketing. And Session did post on their socials a few days before saying it was leaving. Dunno why anyone cares though, it all sucks anyway! I’m glad it’s gone, ha!

Respect because you are a positive guy and that’s great but you miss some of the points avid players are mad about here. It’s not about TMNT and losing that mid content. It’s about a lack of effort to fix issues which have been broken since most of us bought the game at full price. Meanwhile they want us out here spending $7-$14 on single maps or mediocre DLC. People are waking up and the TMNT thing was just the spark for a fuse. People bash XL but they didn’t milk their base dry. They said it is was it is and even gave a few things out for free. Session left the door open for bigger and they haven’t delivered. At this point they can go ahead and find an investor to back the creation of Session 2 because we have given them plenty of money and we have seen little to no return.

I didn't care for the TMNT tie in, but them removing access to the sewer map from only those who didn't unlock it already instead of retexturing it is asinine. I do hope JL put up his video and dealt with the hate its getting of his own free will and not as part of his duties at Crea-Ture. He's a playtester, not their social media manager. Crea-Ture, if you're paying attention to this, please don't use FOMO as a part of your strategy moving forward. All it's done is piss people off

So, you can still downgrade your Session to one of the updates BEFORE the most recent one. I tested this out personally and it works. You can still unlock the map and purchase the TMNT gear, update it again, and you'll have access to all the stuff. I don't know how long this will work, though. I also noticed TMNT is collaborating with another game very soon. I saw the announcement the day before this Session update dropped. I wonder if that had anything to do with it...I think it was COD: WARZONE. Maybe Activision said, "We'll only do this if we're the only game you're collabing with at this time"?

Sounds like whatever movie studio that owns tmnt tried to pull all the content because they werent making anymore money off their advertisement. Modern major film studios suck these days. Its cool that creature was able to get that platform but unfortunately instead of a movie studio pushing a game its up to the developers to make a movie pop. Fornite for example. All in all i dont think creature had much if any say in this but i think its cool that they were able to break into some kind of mainstream. People for people > people for profit.

Taking content out of the game specifically for people who didnt "find" the map is one of the most ridiculous things i have seen in modern gaming, and i have seen a lot of ridiculousness. Not that it is a huge deal, bc the sewer map was dog poo anyways, but its the principle that matters.

This game has been trash for years and now they want more money to add customization crap instead of fixing physics and mechanical problems. For the longest time they couldnt even fix the WRONG NAMES OF TRICKS AND HISTORICAL CHALLENGES WERE LISTED IN THE WRONG SPOTS. Pretty pathetic its taken this long to get this.

But seeing how it turned out so fun (even though the judges were a little too *cool crowd*), I hope you do take part in a future one, it was so much fun to watch and felt like 4th wall break. Personally I like the idea of features where you had to be there. Especially if it's pointless stuff like movie tie-in content. I think they should do more sort of events or hard missions where if you pass you get a stack of boards and if you miss it you miss it.

@@-dfh-866 they restricted the game and deleted loads of data before 1.0. So you can no longer do things like pressure flips out of grinds or skate secret spots out of bounds anymore.

@@zo7034 how am I manipulating anything? Try do a pressure flip out of a grind, or get to the full pipe. There's loads of things you can no long do that you could in pre alpha. Was literally told by munk in the session discord that they deleted a bunch of data before 1.0 came out.
