I'm no gang member, but the story of Joe Morgan has always been interesting to me. Especially as a white dude that has Mexican family and a mixed Mother. I lot of people on the street don't even believe my Grandmother and Mother are related to me. I also had a good Chicano friend growing up from LA, dude was like my brother. Idek what I'm trying to say completely, but nothing but respect to the Mexicans and Chicanos out there. US and Mexican culture has so much in common, I hope people start realizing it more. We're both American, they don't want us to realize that though..

A lot of the culture reminds me of my Grandfather and great uncle (both white, more greaser types). Oldies, Pendleton, 501s, classic cars, some of the hair, white tees, work wear, even some of the slang. It's that classic Americana, I love that shit, and I love that some of ya'll still keep it alive.

I love your comment my brother you’re right we are all Americans with pride values I had a lot of solid CAMARADAS that were white just like back in the day grew up with Chicanos back in the 50s the City we grew up in were mostly white but as Our families came an moved into the neighborhood most white famliy moved but the ones that stayed embraced our culture my friend was from Nebraska but spoke fluent Spanglishjust like Jose (JoeMorgan) my Father was busted with him an was one of the fellas he showed me a kite Jose wrote to him ( Asmall note That was written in perfect Spanish Jose Spoke more Spanish an had an accent he was truly a solid friend

You have to understand. Joe Was in his late 30s - 40s when he joined. He was already a murderer, bank robber, escaped several times. Even do he was from Ford Maravilla, on his own he had connections to La Cosa Nostra, Mexican Cartels( Before they where even called that). His crime record goes back to before even BGF, NF, AB or EME even existed. He was an ideal candidate and an asset to any group. Few can state that.

Great documentary. I really believe that there are some poeple who are blessed with the talent of being good leaders and politicians. These are admirable traits. Its just happens that he is a career criminal. But if Joe was actually dealt a better card by life, I think he would have been a great senator.

My tio was in and out of CA prisons from the late 60's to late 90's including a 8 year and two 5 year bids and he would get drunk and talk about Joe Morgan the boss and being locked up with him we never paid him any mind about the guy but I guess his stories were true about how violent and brutal the guy was and how much power he had I didnt realize he was telling the truth till I was put on the neighborhood and heard stories from other older homeboys about dude he was definitely the definition of a real one

Because this Gorilla is a rat like Morgan, who also leaves out Morgan was never convicted for bank robbery, which was dismissed and Morgan sent to prison for possession of heroin instead. Morgan was known to have secret meetings with warden Louis Nelson and Raymond Procuiner .

How did he maintain being a tough fighter with a Peg leg? I would think that would be a big problem. Also, if La Eme started in a youth facility and then moved to San Quentin, how does that work? A bunch of adult hardened convicts wanted to join a bunch of kids?

I first heard of Joe in 1985 when I went to Vacaville for reception, I always thought he would look like a fuckin pirate, Joe "captain " Morgan. Long black hair and beard with a wooden leg walking around the yard saying "Eye Matey"

@@sethferrantistruecrime when I listened to the audiobook Mafia Prince Philip Leonetti story, There's a part were Nicky Scarffo was doing time in prison, in La Tuna I think it was called, And Leonetti says that his uncle Scarffo had two big strong Mexican guys as his bodyguards, and I always wondered if they might have been from the Eme, I've always been curious to know. @@albertobetto522I could answer that... No that'll be very unlikely.. they wouldn't be anyone's bodyguard... It'll be equivalent to having gotti as your bodyguard... It wouldn't happen.. although he (gotti) did pay for protection they woulda assigned someone to him but it wouldn't be a full fledged member (they have their own bodyguards) u can tell peoples allegiance by their tattoos such as a black hand, m&m characters or butterfly tattoos. A historical fact,Cartels were not around in those days,it was mostly clans or families,such as the Herreras out of Durango or the Quinteros of Sinaloa! The Guadalajara group was the first Mexican Cartel followed by the Gulf!

You're not using the term Guero correctly. Guero means light skinned...not white! Gringo isn't even the correct word either because it refers to even chicanos due to being anyone from the U.S.A. Gabacho might be okay but it's still incorrect. Just say Anglo because the latinos who use these terms like this are just stupid!
