My wife and I have (almost) all of Seth's books. This KZfaq interview will be watched a lot by us. My wife has become a published author largely due to Seth's prompting. I moved from being in a tech start up to running a woodworking business for the same reason. Each sentence from Seth could be a hook to hang an entire book on. Absolute treasure and not just a national one.

I have a framed slogan from the back of a promo book I bought from Seth years ago that says, "Yesterday is over. Tomorrow is too late. And now is exactly the right time. So start." That keeps me going.

Community theater has been a rock in my life for years now. I think that the key in both of these is the word "community". And the fact that no one is there trying to make a living; they're there as amateurs in the most true sense (which has the same root as amour, love), doing something they love.

I’m exactly Seth’s age, same day, same year. I have yet to mourn the loss of my youth in a significant manner. I think that over the years I’ve learned how to consider ageing in a strategic manner. I’ve experienced a lot of deaths of friends and family, particularly in my 50-60’s, and it’s taught me a lot more about myself - my limits, my fears, and curiously, what’s possible for me at 63. On our shared birthday I began a new phase in my life - amping up my physical conditioning through what I term as controlled adversity. I’m accomplishing this through cycling. Sure, there are activities I’ve identified as things I’ll never do again, but I’ve begun to consider those things in the same regard as any other past memory…not worthy of dwelling on or investing any energy in grieving. Instead, I’ve learned that instead of slacking off that this is my time to amp it up. For me, this means identifying an area of physical endurance, strength, and speed in which I can execute with a high degree of ability. I believe that “adversity shows you to yourself in ways that ease cannot.” In this manner, I understand what David Goggins means when he says “we only use about 40% of our capacity.” With this hypothesis in mind, I have designed what I describe as “controlled adverse conditions” (CAC’s) that work very well both physically and psychologically because the two are inextricably connected. These CAC’s will be unique to each individual because you begin where you are and work incrementally to push yourself beyond your perceived limits. I’ve learned more about myself during these times, both positive and not-so-positive, as well as assessing the value of these learning opportunities in a comprehensive manner after the experience, than I’ve ever learned from purely positive experiences. Why? Because they are empowering! I choose the terms of my engagement. I chose the date, time, duration, and level of difficulty. I chose to push myself beyond my limits as I chased a stronger, tougher, faster, more resourceful version of me. It’s interesting…because you always work best when riding in the slipstream of someone ahead of you, never the rider behind you. If you are going to be in a chase group, AT ANY AGE, why not chase your own best example? It works for me! I’m also an author and blogger and I guess I’ve just written my next blog post here! 😊 Thanks, gents, for being my inspiration today!

Seth Godin! My goodness what an icon and inspiration. I saw him 10 years ago on a lecture called “The Purple Cow” and I’ve been paying attention to him more. He gave me the greatest advice on business which was: Solve interesting problems, but real problems. Then sell your solution.

Seth Godin is an underrated genius and he's got a vast warehouse of anecdotal useful stories that is as big as whatever ChatGPT version is currently available. This was mind blowingly good. Will have to listen to a few more times to get them to stick.

I am glad I saw this. I feel like among my processes of recovery are the messages from consumer marketing institutions, although I suppose not all of the took root. Many of my beliefs are of unknown origin. As I explore my beliefs and their origins I find my belief exist to support things I don't want to support. My agency was taken from me before I understood that agency existed. Many things that I believe are facts have origins in ad campaigns, an example might be "Carbon Footprint" or a belief that recycling helps. My city is required by my state to have a recycling program which produces raw materials that have no value and no market. There is a company "Wren" that helps individuals reduce their carbon footprint, Isn't that pointless after coming to understand BP paid an advertising firm to invent and promote the concept in oder to make privileged people feel guilty. I bought the carbon book. I hope it will help with finding ways to help not ways to relieve guilt, built by the "marketing" that made Seth Godin and interesting person.

I was a fan of Seth and his Purple Cow for some time when he launched Squidoo. I was just getting interested in blogging, and I joined Squidoo right at the start. I made plans, reserved some “Lenses” around the topics of wine & travel, and started outlining my content. Before I even posted anything two of my lenses were flagged by the admins for “adult content” outside of their guidelines, and my lenses were blocked. …..there was no content, adult or otherwise. I tried a while to fix it, and then just gave up. Fairly quickly after that I lost my enthusiasm for the Seths’ whole spiel and stopped paying attention.

I love ferris.....but hes missing the women, the children. Meaning comes from - survival.....reproducing a generation that can survive into the future ( think gardening, perrenials)....its women who nuture, raise, teach....the next generation has power to vote in no time. ....yet this country abandons its children for money.....for consumption. Ferris is so out of balance. I'll listen, but it's still male, ego-centric ....not community building. Still all about the numbers.
