Setting and Engraving a spectacular diamond eternity ring.

Today I'll take you through the process of making diamond set and engraved leaf and scroll ring. It's made from 18ct white gold and micro-set diamonds, hand made from start to finish.
This video is mostly time-lapse footage to make a very long process eight minutes long.
I'm Andrew Ashcroft, a master goldsmiths, engraver and fellow of the institute of professional goldsmiths. I specialise in commission made wedding and engagement rings but I love all sorts of metal work and plan to explore more in future videos.

Really like your videos and your voiceover about technique so helpful. And PLEASE, know, just because someone else made a video about it (even if there are lots) you making your own version is very good for your channel's algorithm. Particularly if it's a popular topic. That gets your video /channel presented in viewers playlists more frequently. Beautiful work. So nice for you to share your talent this way and help educate us.

I very much enjoyed seeing your process along with the informative explanation of certain steps you take and the side tips you give. I hope to one day start making my own jewelry and I have tried to find informative channels that do this, but all I'd ever find were videos mostly just showing the process, but that doesn't help one learn why a specific method or a certain tool is best for a particular step of the process. I'd really like it even more if the speed stayed at a normal speed whenever the engraving and other fine details happen, I would not mind at all if the video is 30 minutes or even more. :)

Hi, I'll probably get round to some longer videos. That time lapse is probably around 6-8 hours though so I doubt you want to sit through the whole thing:)

i enjoyed your video very much. More explanation of what you are doing as well as slowing down areas where you're engraving would be helpful. I know it is difficult to balance video with sound, however, too much silence sometimes keeps me wondering why is he doing that. Thanks again. The ring is very beautiful. Carolyn Gibson

Fabulous work. May I ask if you're using HSS or tungsten carbide gravers for the engraving part and also what size in mm are they across the face? Many thanks 🙏

I generally use carbide. They're just old burrs cut to shape. I shape them by hand so don't really have exact measurements. For rings like that though I usually keep them small. Maybe 1.5mm or so.
