Hello and welcome to my sewing room!
Today I'm showing you how to make my
#5 Home Town Quilt Block in 5" and also 10" size.
I am using my latest fabric collection HOME TOWN designed by me and produced and distributed by the fabulous Riley Blake Designs.
I have given you the cutting recipe for both sizes below so be sure and click until the entire description of this video is visible below.
I am making these blocks to go into the HOME TOWN SEW ALONG QUILT which takes place on my blog every Friday and Monday during this sew along.

Each tutorial I'll be showing you just one of ten blocks.
I'm also going to make several blocks of each of the ten to make a quilt for my bed and then I'll design 6 more and add them to my quilt...of course I'll show you how to make those as well!
I'll take you along on that journey with me as I sew blocks each time on my vintage featherweight sewing machine.

Miss the old music but new is fine. I'm a sucker for "old habits". Lori you are such an inspiration! I listen to you while I work and get ideas for how to be more organized in my sewing room. I wish I could sew as much as I wanted!! Big shout out to Cassidy also. She does a wonderful job. I guess I should say big shout out to grandpa for taking care of baby also! Update.... Already used to music and love it!

Love this star - and I love the little shoo fly in the sashings. I think shoo fly blocks look like they are going "yippeee!" - such a happy little design. I enjoy watch your video because you show us how to do the block and give helpful tips! Also, I was wondering how you have your small blocks that you are sewing at beginning and ending. But, I saw the small board that you had in left side of your work and how you had the two 1 1/2” squares laid out. That answered my question and I just need to get my small board and put my small squares paired up and in columns to sew them together!!! Thank you very much for that tip!!! 😀👍

Lori-I used my featherweight for the first time at a retreat last weekend. It traveled well on the plane! I had a hard time knowing where to put the seams sew easy guide in the bed of the machine to get a good, consistent 1/4” seam. Do you have any tricks of how you line up your guide? Do you match it to any holes or lines on your featherweight bed? Thanks for your videos and your fabric lines! ❤😊

One of my all time favorite blocks! Whenever I sew directly on the line, my units come out a bit small due to the fold of fabric. Would love to hear from you as to why your’s don’t.

I love your videos and your fabrics!!! I do have a question - how do you get those intersecting seams to lie so flat? I have clappers and I use your seam roller, but my intersections just don’t lie as flat as yours. Please keep the videos and fabrics coming!!

Make sure you let your daughter know that I like the background music she selects. So many things I watch have background music that is so repetitive, especially advertisements.
