Beautiful video in every way. What an exquisite chemise! Love the snowflake lace, it turned out so well. Never seen lace made like this before, very inspiring. The sequences of you hand sewing and the cats are a delight to watch, very calming and a really lovely aesthetic. So glad I found your channel, it’s a real gem!

Ohhh I love the imagery with Baby Bat silhouetted in the window, she looks so elegant.. It looks so cute how the front of the chemise forms into a slight sweetheart shape. The insert lace seems like such a complicated process, but the results look so elegant. I'm very sorry for your loss, hopefully you and your family are doing well.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your skill set is so diverse you blow my mind every damn time! Seriously, you're amazing. Your lace design is gorgeous and does look like snowflakes. A suggestion for the back - maybe you can string a ribbon through the top and the bottom of your design? It would work like temporary smocking and take care of the extra fabric. I also hope it was warm when you were filming that video, otherwise poor you! The kitties are amazing as always, even if Baby Bat seems to be a grumpy traveler. Looking forward to your new video!

I am sorry for your loss. I'm always happy to see the kitties! (have a special soft spot for Babybat, I admit). And for your project, it is very nice to see a style and a period that hasn't been done to death yet. I love the 18th century, but the next time I have to endure another chemise a la Reine, I think I'm gonna scream. And about lace, have you considered thrifting? I've been mining antique fairs and thrift shops for years now and sometimes you can get some real bargains. Bed linens can really surprise you, lace wise. Have fun in LA!

One of my favorite things about your cosplay videos is when you go into the history of the pieces and then explain what you're changing and why. I love just watching the sewing, but it also makes me feel like I'm learning too! (And not just sewing tips). As a history and cosplay lover, I love this part of your videos! I have literally been storing up your videos, waiting for a day I could sew. And the day has arrived. Thank you for keeping me company with my lace insertion endeavors, and speaking of which! I have a question about lace insertion for you. The cream lace you bought, it looks like a bobbin lace type weave rather than the standard "machine stitched into a ground" lace, and I have a cotton lace that looks similar. However I'm at a complete loss of how to finish the lace edges if a lace strip meets another piece of lace! I don't want the two overlapping because it will look messy, and I need a tiny discrete way of finishing the raw edge and I just can't think of anything. I saw that you had at least one point in the sleeve where the lace ran into itself, how did you manage that edge?

Knowing nothing about the character and being a native german speaker it feels so weird hearing her referred to as Frau, because that literally means woman Or Mrs./Ms. depending on the context. That might actually just be the character's name, but every time you said "I'm doing this and this for Frau's Smock" it registered weirdly in my brain. Anyway, Love your videos! The combination of historical and fantasy is exactly my vibe and kind of what I aspire to do, though I have started to sew not that long ago.
@moth.faerie
@moth.faerie 2 жыл бұрын
It's more the title of the illustration rather than the character's name I think? They're not really characters with stories as far as I know, just more characters for illustration sake! But who knows haha, glad you liked the video anyways!

Did you consider bleaching the esty lace to a brighter white to match the rest?
@moth.faerie
@moth.faerie 2 жыл бұрын
I hadn’t thought to do that, mostly because bleaching is a lot less precise (for me at least), I’m much less confident in my ability to bleach to the correct shade without damaging the lace than I am in dyeing!
@catlova567
@catlova567 2 жыл бұрын
@@moth.faerie I would use the same process I use for hair. Make a test swatch, and dilute the bleach a LOT, letting time be the primary factor in how much you want it to lighten. I would not risk it on a darker color, but going from cream to brighter white seems pretty safe if you want to attempt it in the future. Your work is EXQUISITE, and I look forward to each new video.

I notice you use graphite pencils to mark on your fabric...does it come off easily? Do you have problems with it staining? I've been scared to try it because I've heard it stains. I have a lot of trouble with getting chalk to mark on my fabrics...I use a lot of cottons and it just does not want to mark...
@moth.faerie
@moth.faerie 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know that it comes off easily, but I have never found it to be an issue in opaque fabrics. As long as you draw a line that’s pretty thin and light it shouldn’t show on the finished garment!
