I love your ethos about not getting on the treadmill of churning out garments and buying unneeded patterns. I also love The Closet Historian, her content is invaluable if you want to draft your own patterns. I hope you continue with this channel, I've also checked out Bella Clementine.

Thanks for this, Claire. I’m going to check out several of these channels. My go-to channel for techniques is Lifting Pins and Needles. Karina is a master at demonstrating and explaining how to get the right fit, as well as tricky things like pleats or welt pockets or whatever. I’m fortunate to have found her early in my sewing journey.

I follow several of these, love them! But I learn the most from Lifting Pins and Needles because she focuses on fit first - always a muslin as a start to fit properly to her body - and then comes the creativity with different hacks. This is a process I’ve taken for myself, which saves time, money and effort overall… and increases my satisfaction and confidence in what I’m making.

Lately I like "downtown tailoring", "aspiring gent" for tailoring my husbands suits, "Catherine Sews", "blueprintDIY", "tailor it yourself". I have stumbled onto these sites when searching how to tailor, modify or repurpose items. I previously had a long list of quilting KZfaqrs and Bag making KZfaqrs, but lately I am focused on making items in my closet usable. Thanks for sharing your favorites that I can check out.

Not me smiling ear to ear after hearing your very lovely words 🤗💛 AND to be included in a video with all of my favorite creators?!? Absolutely loved this video, and thanks so much for sharing. One of my favorite sewing channels is Bernadette Banner- she shares a lot about hand sewing and historical garment making (with a bit of Victorian lifestyle and costuming thrown in). It’s always so fun and interesting to learn about sewing through a historical context and she is so so funny. Love this video, thanks again for all your suggestions and for the inclusion 💛💛

You know you're in to deep when you already follow everyone in the video. I have been enjoying mariah patti's channel. ( I may have mispelt her name). She does a lot if pattern drafting but makes it a little simpler. I recommend her video on drafting circle skirts. I also like I bueve the channel name is making cassie. I like that they both have the same goal of a me made wardrobe but go about it so differently. Cassie also knits and crochets.

Yes! I love these channels! I also love your channel- you are definitely on my BEST OF list! 🤗❤️ I didn’t know about your second YT channel!! If you don’t already, you should definitely link it in every video description going forward, and add it to the links section of this YT channel (and do the same with the link for this channel on your other channel!)! 😃 A few sewing channels I would recommend include KnottyGnome Crafts, Sewing and the City, Seamwork, SewingTherapy, Frugalisama, WithWendy, Kiana Bonollo. And my most recent find is Steph Sewn- she is new to YT, but you would never know it! 😃

My favorite sewing channels include Alisa's (Thoughtful Creativity), Vintage Sewing School, Ellie and Mac (I bought most of my clothing patterns from their site), Lifting Pins and Needles, and Oklaroots (bagmaking). There are some quilting ones as well, but I can't remember their names off the top of my head.

@@Penguinandpear Did you mean you haven't *made* any yet? I've found that the patterns are very beginner-friendly and size-inclusive. I really like how the sizes are different layers in the pdf so I can just print what I need. I'd never done any clothing sewing until E&M. A couple if things to note: most of their patterns are designed for knits with 4-way 50% stretch, and IIRC the "curvy-fit" (vs straight-fit) patterns are based on a 5'4" (approximately 162.5 cm) model. Everything is clearly labeled, every pattern has multiple options, seam allowances 1/4 inch unless otherwise stated) are included, and a lot of people will mix-and-match parts of multiple patterns together (I haven't tried that yet). They have a really helpful FB group as well. Using E&M patterns, I've made dresses for myself (including 1 where I graded from my above-bust size, did a FBA, and put in darts... that was nerve-wracking as I'd never done anything like that before), my sister, and my niece (currently working on matching dresses for my niece and her doll), as well as various shirts, pajamas, pullovers, and cardigans for my parents, my brother, and my sister and her family.

Already watching two from the list, will definitely check others. As for mine - not quite sewing tutorials stuff, but I really dig sewing-related content from Bernadette Banner, Morgan Donner and Rachel Maksy, I find these ladies super inspiring (in fact, the very first garment I've ever made was a medieval shirt, following videos by BB and MD!) Melly Sews is a tutorial goddess when it comes to clothing (and her patterns are really good too). For non-garment sewing (like quilting) I like Erica Arndt, sewingtimes and chieko043, all three are extremely creative ladies and I learned so much from how they draft their patterns and explain their designs in the videos.

In regards to threading a serger, your best bet would be to search for videos about the specific model you'll be getting. Different models are threaded in different ways and orders.

I have MANY favorites, but I will list only a few 🙂 1. Shirley Bogan @shirleybogan1292 - I love her personality. She sews Big 4 patterns and then models her garments while dancing and singing to gospel music. 2. MichelleSewsAgain @MichelleSewsAgain - She likes colorful prints and mainly sews Indy patterns. I always look forward to seeing what she will make next. 3. Dee & Dory Design Dreamer s@sewingfun - They are sisters that pick a project, a pattern or specific design details from a hat then sew and model the resulting garments. They are delightful to watch. 4. Anmaree's Workshop @anmareesworkshop - She films in Jamacia and has a very creative skill set. I think her next project will be a reversible garments challenge.
