I feel like I've been drinking from a fire hose with all the amazing videos being released on Sewing with Cinnamon during the 12 Days of Christmas. I've learned from every topic that has been covered and I know I need to go back and watch all of them again to learn even more. I'm so excited to practice all these skills and techniques. Pattern "hacking" is something that every seamstress learns to do. Take a basic dress pattern that fits well, add sleeves, lengthen the skirt or add a full skirt by cutting a wider skirt piece and gathering. Take a bodice, cut up the front to turn it into a bolero or add a ruffle to make it a peplum jacket. PixieFaire patterns are terrific for this especially for new sewers because you know the individual pieces fit your doll so you can easily change them around.

The pattern acadamy is a wonderful course to have under your sewing repertoire. Love all the classes and videos

This will be fun to try taking patterns and merge them together. This will be new for me and I cannot wait.

I can't afford the Design Academy, but pattern hacks are something I've done for years. From editing Cabbage Patch clothes patterns years ago...starting with one that was sort of what I wanted and changing it, to making cosplay outfits for myself, to changing patterns from PixieFaire to get the look I want. The most recent was hacking two 15-inch baby doll patterns together and changing them sew a sleep sack like what my niece has for her Baby Annabell doll for Christmas. (mixing 18 on Main's "My Baby Blanket Sleeper" and 123 Mulberry Street's "Sweet & Simple Dress" to make a reversible sleep sack that was like a tanktop front and opened at centre front ). I think I've already watched these since I've been a Sewing with Cinnamon member for a few years, but I'll re-watch and hopefully pick up new ideas. This is one of the few things I'm pretty confident about in my sewing... zippers, delicate fabrics, vinyl, shirring.... many things I'm not...
