The Sex Pistols interviewed in Finland June 21st 1996. Many times I have seen this listed as being from Finsbury Park, but if you listen close you will hear John Say "We're in Finland Now" Taken from a Greek Electronic Press Kit (EPK) VHS videotape.

Great interview, I saw an interview with Glen years later where he talked about the tension between John and the rest of the band, like for example 2 tour buses - one for John and another for the rest of the band. But they were professional about it and did the tour. The tension always helped the music. Great to see this. Thank you.

fave moments: Steve saying 'don't be predictable' to Paul. And when the interviewer says '...will this progress into anything beyond a tour?' Glen says 'can't see it, really' instantly. Glen reminds me of an elongated Dudley Moore, in appearance - there was a nutty idea going round once that the Earth experiences fluctuations in gravitational pull which (supposedly) accounts for the varying heights of persons. Glen could portray the low-grav Dud in an illustration of said concept. Steve said 'concept' just as I typed that! Plate o'shrimp! God bless Malcolm.

It's pretty clear that back then it was about using the nostalgia effect to make a few lousy bucks. The thing would have been much cooler if they had played new songs or produced new albums back then. But that's not what the whole thing was about. The Pistols stood for something completely new and original in their time. Instead, in the 90s they simply warmed up the whole thing a bit and that was it.

John always acts like he doesn't care but then he turns around and talks as if he has something to prove about how important and influential the Sex Pistols are. It's a little annoying but interesting to see that he very much always cared about how they were perceived. For the most part, John's schtick really is all such an act. And in a situation like this, he has to flip on the "Rotten" switch and give everyone what they expect from him. It's also a wall he puts up due to his insecurities.

Currently in the news is Roger Waters and his tremendous ego, living on past accomplishments and being the center of the universe. And here's Johnny doing the same thing to even greater comic heights. Yes, Rotten claims, if not for him then Hip Hop wouldn't exist! So....South Bronx 1976 "you hear that new Sex Pistol song? We got to something like that"! While the old argument of where and who started Punk, was it New York or London will be argued forever, the fact is alternative and new music was happening everywhere before and with or without Johhny Rotten. The only thing the Pistols did was fine tune it into a pop phenomenon and ride the UK tabloid news shocking coverage to fame and fortune.

JOHNNY HAS LIGHTENER IN HIS HAIR! 😂😅😅!! HE'S BLEACHING HIS HAIR!! I HOPE HE HAS A TIMER ON IT! HE HAS TO BE CAREFUL. IT DOES STOP AFTER SO LONG, BUT HIS HAIR MAY NOT NEED THAT MUCH TIME WITH THE LIGHTER ON IT. YOU KNOW, JOHNNY HAS MULTIPLE THOUGHTS RUNNING THROUGH HIS MIND(HE MENTIONED IT IN ANOTHER MUCH LATER INTERVIEW) AND THE INTERVIEWER ISN'T PRIVILEGED TO THESE THOUGHTS BEFORE HAND. ESPECIALLY DURING THE EARLY YEARS. AFTER JOHNNY HAD A BIT OF MONEY AND APPRECIATION AND THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE IN HIS LIFE HE WAS A LITTLE MORE OPEN AND HE EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON IN HIS LIFE AND HIS THOUGHTS. HE HAD GONE THROUGH A LOT OF DISAPPOINTMENT AND WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY PEOPLE HE TRUSTED AND THAT REALLY HURT HIM HORRIBLY. HE MADE IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO KNOW HIM OR HIS THOUGHTS EARLY IN LIFE. IT TOOK A LONG TIME FOR HIM TO REALLY OPEN UP AND TO UNDERSTAND WHERE HE WAS REALLY COMING FROM. HE HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, HE HAS A VAST KNOWLEDGE OF MANY THINGS, HIS ANGERS, HIS PASSIONS AND HIS WONDERFUL LOVE OF LIFE. ❤
