The production story of Metropolis is I think, a great example of the saying "Things don't work out as you expect but they work out anyway." Metropolis didn't really become the great German classic they were hoping for, but rather became a classic for the ages!

The events of METROPOLIS take place in the year 2026, so I hope that when the 100th anniversary of this cinematic masterpiece arrives in a few years, there will be a big screen re-release of the restored version. Cinephiles like me would go (RADIO!) GA-GA over the chance to see this ground-breaking film in a movie theatre. Let us hope!

@@macree01 people haven’t been around for more than around 5 thousand years according to all found historic documentation and archeology. The actual written evidence of us being here is dated 3500 years. A lifetimes study of such things has broke this wheel to show reality. The elites knew that the 20th century would begin with a cataclysm for which it did shown with cities all over the world being covered in mud from the sky burying a great percentage of old building in over 10 feet of soil. The elites thought that cataclysm would be the ‘big one’ but according to scripture having been re looked at to overlook the Jews falsities and work out what these ancient people were actually talking about. This film was made after the elite knew they now had another 135 years before the next cataclysm due in 2046 with some major events happening before then. This film shows the elites plan to control all thought and try steer themselfs out of this next cataclysm for which none of us can.

Sometimes the most messed up people make something amazing. Metropolis is a powerful movie that I would consider one of my favorites. But even I will admit it has many story and editing problems. But that said, I don't know if I saw the Hollywood edit, the original German edit or what. I know I saw the version before the Argentina cut was found though, since about 1/3 the film was missing, replaced with cue cards. And I have to admit, the use of the cue cards describing the missing footage is part of the huge impression the film had on me. Not knowing any better at the time, I thought the text was intentional and added to the ethereal tone of the film. Plus, it was a good pacing break from the exhausting over acting and crazy expressionist visuals.

Never seen the original Metropolis, only the post-humanous Osamu Tezuka film.
@maxis2k4 жыл бұрын
I'm a huge anime fan, but that movie is really an insult to the original film. And Tezuka's original manga. It's beautifully animated, but the story is basically a 2 hour chase scene with an anti climatic ending.

Have you consider making your videos available to download in an easy way after a month or two? Frankly it is so frustrating to download your videos to hdd for someone like me with a slow internet... Once it was easy, click download when I was in a library or other public place, now I need to be on my computer and my browser and i need to "watch" whole movie before I can even think of making hard copy on my hdd... I know there is more than one force in play, but it would be really nice to have more freedom... I am graetfull for your passion and knowledge but current technological solutions pertaining video player are like thorns ;)

+tehdii There's plenty of online ways to get hold of his videos especially for slow bandwidths. Video-download.online works, you just need to inspect the html and grab the code. It'll look like this: player2.screenwavemedia.com/player.php?id=sfdebris-572f55b08f1e1 I do this when KZfaq is being prissy and blocks my bandwidth peak hours.

+icthulu Thank you for reminding me of this solution ;) I have used KeepVid in the past but now totally forgoten about this ;) Well Firefly reviews here I come ;) Sadly videos on the site are still not loading so online downloading will be my only option from now... Thank you for help, much appreciated brother ;)

I love your videos but constant problems with a player made me feel tired when I just thought about your site ;( Someone knew how to fix this?:)

One thing that bothers me about Metropolis. It's not logical. At one point Rotwag says that Joh Frederson wants to make the workers destroy his "factory" so that he will have an excuse to kill them later. But then his factory is ruined. It's totally destroyed. How is he going to replace it and where will he get a work force? In short, his meaness is self destructive.
@williambarringer651310 ай бұрын
The “machines” the workers are forced to labor at under ground don’t actually do anything as far as I can tell, this is a commentary on how fake the whole economy and society is in general, atleast that’s how I took it, the control over the people is more important than any factories or labor production

Truth be said here, I must say; there exists no more brilliant group than the Jewish. I am talking about every scale of intellectual and artistic genius. I'm not Jewish. Perspective through historical contributions. Uncanny ? It's interesting. The people absolutely fascinate me. I would get a lot closer, were it not for Jewish mother-in-laws.
